Seehotel Hubertus

We stayed at the Seehotel Hubertus for 3 nights in the suite. The room was extremely spacious with an addition floor above for a third person. The view from the room over looked the lake however there was no balcony for our room. The hotel is on the banks of the large Schluchsee lake and view is stunning. The hotel is accessible by train too. Their restaurant is excellent too and also has a panoramic view of the lake. However, last order for the restaurant must take place by 7:30. The owner, Felix, gave us several tips to have an excellent stay in Black Forest.

This trip was a father and son trip through the southern part of Germany. Wanting to make my father's stay in the Black Forest memorable, I selected the Seehotel Hubertus and was very pleased. After traveling the Schwarzwald-Hochstrasse (high Black Forest highway) for the better part of the day, we arrived at the “little castle” on Lake Schluchsee. Felix our host met us in the parking lot (by name I might add) and quickly hustled our bags to the room. He then showed us the room and allowed us to settle in before dinner. Our room was a Superior room with balcony and lakeview. The accomodations were clean and very comfortable and the views across the water were beautiful. We had an excellent dinner in the hotel restaurant, with wonderful service provided by Monique. The breakfast the following morning was very good, with plenty of selection to please most any taste. In my travels, the people that you encounter can influence the experience. Monique and Felix truly made us feel welcome and I couldn't have asked for a better experience for this father and son trip. The only regret is that I didn't book more than one night.

The views from our beautifully furnished, spacious room were lovely, especially with fall foliage. At the owner's suggestion, we walked into town through the woods and back along the lake. We relaxed in the spotless spa facilities and ate delicious meals in the restaurant. (Another bonus of fall was venison season.) What a truly relaxing and memorable experience.

Location - Blew me away, utterly beautiful watching the sun set behind the lake and the forest surrounding you on the other side. Architecture and Decor - Incredible building with great history. Tasteful, clean and luxurious decor that made me feel very comfortable. Of all the 5 places we stayed on this trip the Seehotel made me feel the most relaxed. Service - Attentive, polite and interested from the outset. Food - The best steak I had during two weeks in Belgium, Germany and Austria. The food was refined, perfectly seasoned and made with great tasting fresh ingredients. A great stay and all too brief - this was a business trip but my girlfriend is already on my back to return.

Das Zimmer an sich war i.O. Ein wenig mehr Sauberkeit würde drinliegen, aber es war OK. Das Personal an der Reception war anständig, aber nicht sonderlich aufmerksam. Es wurde z.B. nichts von der kostenlosen KONUS-Gästekarte gesagt, geschweige selbständig ausgestellt. Erst auf unsere Nachfrage wurde diese ausgehändigt. Was aber leider völlig unterirdisch ist, ist das Restaurant. Das Abendessen hat nichts mit italienischer Küche zu tun. Die Carbonara wird mit Käse, Ei und Schweinebacke beschrieben. Die Sauce war im betsen Fall aus der Tüte und die Schweinebacke waren kleine, fertig gekaufte Schinkenwürfel. Die Frutta die Mare war ebenfalls eine einzige Enttäuschung und Pfeffer und Salz fehlte sowohl am Salat, wie auch an den Spaghetti. Das Personal hat von Service null und gar keine Ahnung. So etwas habe ich in all meinen Ferien noch nicht erlebt. Falsch zugewiesene, reservierte Plätze, dreckiges Geschirr und fehlendes Besteck waren noch nicht alles. Spinnweben, ein verunreinigter Boden und über Brosamen aufgedecktes Service gehörten ebenfalls dazu. Der Wein wird ebenfalls ordentlich unter dem Eichstrich serviert. Als einziges Highlight kann das Bruscchetta erwähnt werden, das wirklich gut gemacht war. Das Frühstück war gerade noch halbwegs in Ordnung, wobei der Aufschnitt garantiert nicht nur tagfrisch war. Statt handwerklich gutem Brot, werden nur Aufbackbrötchen gereicht. Die Kaffemaschine weist eine Staubschicht auf, die nicht darauf schliessen lässt, dass diese periodisch, geschweige denn täglich, gereinigt wird. Wir waren im 2024 bereits im Hubertus. Damals war die Küche ein Gedicht. Nicht zu vergleichen, was wir dieses mal erlebt haben.
