Grand Mutiara Hotel

This hotel was very disappointing. We are a western family and felt very uncomfortable. The staff appeared dismissive and judgemental. Strangely they had bar displays set up in various places but when we asked if we could order a drink in the restaurant we were told that the bars were empty display cabinets. We asked for advice about where to go to a local shop to buy provisions for our onward journey and were told that they could not help us get there and we could not walk as we would get run over. Getting lunch in the restaurant was difficult and apparently room service did not run during the day. There were signs everywhere telling us what we could not do. Overall very high priced and very poor service. Best avoided.

Unfriendly staff especially staff who stand by infront of the door of restaurant who picked your room card, the taste of food was so standard, toilet wasn’t clean enough, garden wasn’t tidy enough, swimming pool was too but building was awesome.

3.202675, 98.521592 Too far from the city centre to walk, this large resort-style hotel on the northern edge of Berastagi offers impressive view from the outside with a car ramp to the reception. It has four 2-storey wings with rooms with balconies on either side of the central hall. The entrance is imposing with a large central hall and views of the large outside pool and garden. On closer inspection, the hotel is not well maintained and the rooms are worn and outdated. This hotel has seen much better days. Major update is needed. In September 2023, our room 425 offered twin beds, excellent hot shower, television, good Wi-Fi, tea and coffee and a balcony. Fan or air-conditioning were not available. We didn’t need them in September. The room was clean and the bed slept well. The highlight of this hotel is the breakfast included in the price. Continental and Indonesian dishes tasted excellent. Grand Mutiara is a stopover hotel for one night.

The rooms are really outdated, seems like they never renovated at all since opening. Breakfast are really terrible, very little variety and cold food. Really noisy hotel, upon my stay, there is an event at the pool with sound system which was allowed until 11pm, and the buzz of the noise can be heard clearly from the room, the guest from the event were shouting with a mic which is really disturbing. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. The staff are friendly but the management are lack of empathy and consideration towards other paying guest by allowing such event
