Elegant Desert Lodge

AWESOME place. Would recommend anyone to stay there when visiting Sossousvlei. The rooms are impeccable, the pool is awesome, the food is delicious, and the staff is the friendliest. The Place is run by a great Manager Yvonne who has a good relationship with her staff who all calls her Ouma. Do yourself a favour and stay at this beautiful establishment when you're in the area.

We had very spacious rooms with 2 extra beds and a small balcony that we didn't really need ... but it was nice to have the space. The bathroom was small in comparison, and it would have been a bit of a nightmare if there were 4 of us sharing that room. The drainage was also not good enough so if there were too many people at the lodge having a shower than our shower didn't drain properly and the water simply filled up the small bathroom and went out into the entrance of the room (nowhere near the beds but still not exactly ideal). The pool area was the best part about this. Plenty of places to lie in the sun or shade and tables to play some cards. The pool itself is a little small given the size of the place. If there's more than 2 people in it then it starts feeling crowded very quickly. But, perfect just to cool yourself off and get ready for some more lolling about around the pool. The restaurant is also very spacious and has a cool fireplace area, although only around 10 people can sit around the fireplace, which, again, is not a lot considering the size of the place. The food was disappointing. The fixed menu sounded great. But the portions were tiny and the quality was disappointing for the price that they charge. All-in-all, it seems like a good place for touring companies and large groups, but I'm not sure if I would ever recommend this place to individuals or small groups.

Wonderful stay with the warmest team. Yvonne and her Team are so welcomîng. Diner / breakfast area is the most beautiful place on earth ! The rooms are quiet, beautifully decorated. Peaceful place. Go for it ! You’ ll have a unique experience.

We stayed at the camp rather than the lodge itself, which is about 6km (but part of the same business). We were warmly welcomed and shown to our luxury tent - only thing tent about it was a canvas roof. Huge room, huge bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower. Bed on wheels, so you could roll it out on the patio to watch the stars - we didn't bother as there was a large beanbag type affair on the pation which did the job every bit as well. Did the game drive with Bullet who knew the terrain and the wildlife like the back of his hand and was so informative and the sundowners were amazing - what a location! Back for dinner in the walled enclosure with fires to keep us warm while we ate - absolutely delicious. The highlight though was an afternoon dip in the pool with a chilled glass of beer - what a location. Hint: you have to climb a few steps to get up to it on top of the hill, but what a view (and what a beer). As for the morning - not every day I wake up to see zebra and eland walk in front of the window. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for making it amazing.

What a great experience to stay in this lodge. The lodge is beautifuly located, With a stunning view. The lodges are very clean and we enjoyed the bedtime stories. We would definately recommend the environmental walk, where you can spot the Mountain zebra's if you are lucky. Also the personnel is extraordinary. They did all they can to organise an unforgettable barbecue in the dessert because we had something to celebrate.
