Just returned after a fabulous week at the Hotel Principi di Piemont in Sestriere. Entry into the hotel is a wonderful sight with all the elaborate winter and Christmas decorations everywhere. The reception staff were speedy but thorough with information and welcoming. We were given a superior double room where we had a bunk bed too. The beds were extremely comfortable, a little firm for some maybe but certainly didn't affect sleep at all. I loved them. The room was clean and tidy with a large double window overlooking the mountains and sunrise. A very decent sized fitted wardrobe with plenty of hangers. Bathroom had a great hot shower with jacuzzi bath, though didn't use that. Soap, shampoo and haidryer was provided as was a coffee machine with espresso pods, but bit too strong for me as no milk. There is a fridge. The restaurant has various dining areas. We were overlooking the mountains and the buffet style provides a huge array of food. Breakfast starting at 7.30am included cereals, fruit, pastries and a typical fried offer. Two coffee machines that were never too busy. Also a decent selection of tea bags. Evening meal started at 7pm and again offered a huge choice. Large salad bar with optional seafood, a daily soup, choices of anti pasta, a main course of meat, fish or vegetarian. Deserts were plentiful and typically Italian... Ask behind the serving counter for ice cream. It's probably best to select your deserts at the beginning to ensure you get the best choice... same with the cheese. I finished most nights with a small cheese board. Having 5 or 6 plates of food you'll never ever go hungry. They sell you bottled water for dinner at 3 euros... But it is what it is. They also have a massive selection of wines if you wish. The only niggle would be that both breakfast and dinner main courses were never piping hot, but warm. The very large bar area is excellent and wonderfully decorated with comfy areas for bigger groups or areas for a couple to relax after skiing. We soon integrated with two other couples for a sociable week in the evenings and even did a group ski on the last day. There are also TVs showing Italian and Premier League football but thankfully with no sound so you can chat and listen to the piped music. There's a wide range of local lagers and spirits including a decent Guinness; all beers cost 7 euros. The only niggle it was a little cool in the bar on some evenings which is very unusual for a mountain hotel bar. It would have been nice to have had the roaring fire. The spa was okay, the pool a little too cold for me. It costs 10 euros pp for the week and a robe and slippers provided. You need to book the spa the day before, I guess to prevent overcrowding. The locker room was just outside and downstairs. Electronic lockers that some were not working... Sometimes you can't beat a good old fashioned key. Both set of skis and boots can be stored in one locker and the heaters work ... Though I have been in much warmer ones. S

Lovely hotel located on the edge of Sestriere. It is a 10min walk to other hotels in the area but it's 20mins into the centre of the town. If you don't fancy walking, there is a minibus shuttle in the morning and for part of the evening. The hotel itself was lovely. We found our room was very clean and much larger than other ski hotel rooms. We had a very comfortable night sleep and had no issues with the mattress (as other reviews refer to). Food - There is a large selection of food at the buffet for breakfast and dinner. We had no complaints about the food over the whole week. The dessert selection is huge, but without any labels so it is a bit of a guessing game but we still enjoyed it. The bar - area is quite large and perfect for an evening drink. Prices similar to everywhere in that area. The spa - Go to the reception in the morning to book your slot in the spa. They give you 2 hours (3-5 or 5-7). We never found it too busy in there. It's a great area to unwind after a busy day. Unfortunately the steam room was not working on each visit. Ski lockers - small room just outside the hotel, gets a bit busy at peak times but it is manageable. Easy to access the slopes as able to ski in/out of the hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially bar staff and waiter in the restaurant. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend the resort and the hotel.

Ok so this hotel generally presents well. It is very distinctive and occupies a good prominent position slightly above and out of town - about five - ten minutes walk. At peak times there is a free shuttle too and from the town centre which was great. The reception and bar are nicely done in an Austrian stube style with comfortable seats. Our triple room was large enough for three adults, plainly furnished and clean. The spa and pool are nicely presented also albeit one had to reserve your slot to use these early each day and the places are severely restricted. The staff were mostly very friendly (particularly in the bar). The hotel is ski in and out via a very easy green run down to / from the nearest chairlift. So much for the good. Not so good were the dining facilities which reminded me of a school canteen with undressed Formica topped tables, all very bland but again clean. All food was presented as a buffet although the waiting staff did serve drinks and wine and efficiently cleared away plates between courses. The food however was not so great. Hot breakfast selection, quality and variety were poor and it was actually served cold most of the time onto cold plates. Evening hot meals were also cold and mostly badly cooked. Members of our group mostly passed on that evenings headline course in favour of a simple spaghetti meal for that reason. Cut fruit, at breakfast time was tinned. Dessert dishes, although plentiful and in some cases appealing looking, weren’t labelled and so one took pot luck when choosing. In our room we found the beds were unremittingly hard and not at all restful. The main entrance is rather spoiled by the banks of wheelie bins located right in front of the hotel. Sestriere itself could do with some investment. The lift system is pretty clunky and outdated for the most part and there aren’t too many mountain restaurants. Snack / lunchtime food isn’t really good quality and there are some fairly strange payment arrangements in some cafes and bars which require you to pay in advance and obtain meal / drink vouchers which are then exchanged for what you have asked for. All of that said, we had great week. The hotel is ok on the whole and the skiing was fine. A day trip over to Montgenevre is highly recommended.

A very nice hotel sat across one road to ski slope access making it a great choice. Ski locker room in the basement, quite tight when it’s busy but that’s the same everywhere. Large bar area and reasonable prices, €7 for a beer. The spa are is spacious and it has a sauna, steam room and an ice bucket to cool you down. The pool is around 15m long and there is a jacuzzi area. The only thing I would say is that the water temperature is quite low. All the staff were very helpful, room service daily and a nespresso espresso machine with two pods per day provided. The wine list in the restaurant is large but expensive, a few bottles are available for €30-€40 but these sell out very quickly leaving very little choice unless you want to pay €50 upwards each day. Lots of choice for breakfast and evening meals. A fresh option for breakfast, say an omelet would be nice but don’t expect hot food! It’s a buffet style set up and the hot offerings are lukewarm at best at both meals. We were disappointed with this as a hot meal after a day skiing would be nice.

I am blown away. This is the best hotel we have ever stayed at, and we have travelled a fair bit. Anyone who has anything extremely negative to say about this place is just a stuck up twot who is spoilt and entitled. I've seen many negative reviews saying 'do not come here' when it is brilliant value for money and exceeded our expectations. The food was made with high-quality ingredients, beautiful spreads of authentic Italian food and meals made by chefs who were clearly passionate about their job and proud of what they make. Everything was homemade and tasted amazing, full of nutrition. Every night I was excited to see what was for dinner. And the desserts were fabulous-fresh cream and pastries. The rooms had beautiful views of the mountains and were cleaned everyday. They were cleaned to a high standard and were very spacious. The bar had a lovely atmosphere, super cozy. Not too far from everything in the town, maybe a 20 minute walk, but not so close you could hear hustle/music etc. The staff were super friendly. The spa was beautiful. Amazing views of the mountains from the pool. The saunas/steam rooms were included in the price of your stay and even provided free tea and coffee so you could relax. There was also an ice bucket. NOTE You must book a spa slot every morning. It is free but you must get a slot early to avoid overcrowding and to allow the staff to keep the place tidy. They charge for water at dinner only. They do not provide tap water at dinner. I just didn't have a drink with my dinner and had water back at my room. My only negatives I have to say are- the hot tub wasn't hot at all however this is due to health and safety rules regarding a limit on water temperature. The wooden slats weren't perfect (a little wobbly in a few spots) but not dangerous at all since you shouldn't be running near a pool anyways. Would be a good thing to renovate next on their list. The radiators/towel racks in the bathroom were a bit dusty, however I am picky with cleaning as I was a cleaner previously. And finally, they do charge you 10 euros for a 'spa kit' in order to use the spa, which they only tell you when booking the spa. However, if you bought your own robe and flip flops I'm sure this isn't mandatory. Thank you for a brilliant stay. We will be returning.

Possibly pound for pound the best ski hotel we have stayed at. Food was excellent. Room was spacious and clean. Shuttle bus to and from town prompt, though we did ski in and out a lot. Ski lockers do not lock, but we are used to using open plan racks, so not an issue (when did anyone ever lose skis from a boot room?). It is relatively large, so meal times with the (excellent) buffet are a little hectic, but there was never a shortage of food. The only gripe is that there are only two coffee machines, so we had to queue every day for tea. Re Sestriere, the lifts are old and sloooooow. Trying to ski to Montgenevre requires you to use a very slow one man chair at one point and it's a two hour slog on lots of old lifts.

We booked through Crystal for a week and then read some reviews which left us feeling a bit worried about what was in store. We were extremely happy that these poor reviews were not reflective of our experience: the hotel was friendly with excellent service, offered a good location for the slopes and had good quality traditional food. My two bits of criticism would be that 1) it was buffet for all courses vs choosing a meal, but the chefs and staff were very friendly and the food was high quality which did compensate for this, and 2) the drinks in the bar were a little bit more expensive than the local bars, it felt like you were a captive market given the hotel is a 15 min walk into the town. There is also a spa/pool which is included but needs booking, and apparently gets busy on bad weather days, but we didn’t use it ourselves. Sestriere itself as a ski resort we felt had gone a bit downhill (pardon the pun) with lots of lifts out of action and a bottleneck for queues when the masses arrived at weekends, but the beauty of the area is that you can ski to lots of other fab places, which we did, including Montegenevre.

A cosy and welcoming hotel with a relaxed feel. Located just out of the town but with regular shuttle service every 15 mins. Ski in ski out. Food excellent and varied, catering for all. Staff friendly and helpfui. Rooms spacious, comfortable and warm. Incredible views. My only criticism is that the advertised hot tub has not worked for 4 years and is no longer available.

An absolutely amazing hotel. Beautifully decorated, staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely excellent, so many different options to choose from, it was all fresh and beautifully laid out. If you like a sweet, you’ll not be without. There were almost as many different desert options than mains! Cakes, biscuits, chocolate. If only I could eat them! Great views of the mountains from the restaurant and you keep your table for the duration of your stay. Room was small but adequate, TV, wardrobes, coffee machine no kettle (it’s Italy!), fridge, desk etc. and full amenities in the bathroom. There is a safe in the wardrobe which is free of charge, you just program your number, hit enter and it’ll lock keeping your valuables safe. I left a mobile phone, cash, iPad and AirPods out on my bedside table every day and no problem with the cleaner. There’s an Apres ski bar just up the mountain which gets very busy and you can hear the music but this usually cuts off at about 9ish. Would love to come back.
