1770 Beach Shacks

Fantastic accommodation. Great views and location. Good value for money. Scrupulously clean. Full kitchen. You are next door to the Beach hotel. The marina and base for LARC tour is only a five minute walk away. The headland and coastal walking track are a short drive

Amazing !! Close to beach, very spacious as we are a family of 5 and the view is incredible. Jan is very helpful. Has steps access to beach. Decent size fridge l. Stayed in 2 bedroom. Coastal vibe. Romantic.

The 1770 beach shacks far exceeded our expectations. The location was fantastic and decor beautiful. Everything was provided and we felt completely comfortable. My only complaint is that we only stayed one night on our way driving north. I wish we had stayed longer.

Great spot in a terrific location. Nicole was very pleasant greeting us on arrival and set the tone for a very enjoyable stay. The apartment was exactly what has been described by other travellers. Spectacular, Rustic, Unique. The major downside for us was the bed in the main bedroom which rolled into the middle.and made sleeping difficult resulting in my wife moving into the 2nd bedroom during the night.

I finally made it to 1770 and the Beach Shacks two years later than planned - my first attempt was scuppered by problems with my car. The website for this property doesn’t convey its beauty. I stayed in the treehouse which is the smallest of the “shacks” arranged up the side of a hill. It is about 70 steps up from the lower street level, but there is also parking at the top of the hill with a gentle slope down and then only a few steps up to the door. The view is spectacular including a sunset vista over the bay, though I recommend watching the sunset from beach level. The shack contains a queen size bed with mosquito nets, two couches, a small table, a compact kitchen (microwave, two burner stove top, kettle, toaster but no oven and lots of cooking utensils) and a slightly cramped but perfectly adequate en suite with a shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a barbecue and another small table on the balcony. (Some of the bigger shacks have a hammock on their balcony, but not so for the Treehouse.) There is a cafe near the bottom of the stairs which can be a bit noisy but it doesn’t stay open very late. Otherwise everything is very peaceful apart from the delighted squeal if children in the beach in the daytime or the gentle rumble of waves at night. Definitely worth consideration for your visit to 1770 (the town, not the year!)

I stayed with my elderly parents so was prepared for a challenge but the owner was helpful and worked with me re access etc. we stayed in the 2nd from the top so not too many stairs for them and the view and ambiance were worth it. The cabins are really open and unique but comfortable and everything has been thought of. There were no bugs at the time we were there but I did wonder about summer. A great experience for us all!
