The Vue B&B

I recently stayed at The Vue with six other members of my family, so we had the entire place to ourselves, and it was great! We came during Fourth of July week, when Seward is the busiest. The location was perfect, and just a quick walk to downtown for all the festivities going on. Rissi and her staff did an amazing job hosting us, answering questions about the area, and providing a fully stocked fridge with everything we could want for breakfast. Highly recommend visiting Seward and staying here!

Best location, best parking, most comfortable, cleanest room. Small luxuries. We stayed New Years Eve, had easy access to Sea Life Center, restaurants, and the beach park to watch the fireworks. We stayed in the east unit. The kitchen was well equipped, but we got breakfast at the coffee/art shop across the street. The shared kitchen was briefly noisy in the morning, overall it was very quiet. Seward was very snowy and most restaurants were closed over New Year - more space, more sea lions and diving ducks for me. Communication with the hosts was good, mostly by text; there is a user manual and convenient signs. Room temperature was good, despite large windows. Bathroom, et cetera was spotlessly clean, bed comfortable. I want the person who furnished the unit to work on my house.

We arrived in Seward in early morning from a cruise. The owner, who works two buildings over, allowed us to store our luggage in her office so we can tour the area before our “West Room” unit was ready later in the afternoon. This place has an “IKEA” style minimalist feel. It’s very clean and has a very nice shared kitchen with a jar of cereal and some regular & decaf coffee beans. The daily housekeeping did not clean our room, they only cleaned the common areas. This is not a Bed & Breakfast B&B we’re used to. There is no host-family living onsite, so there is no home cooked breakfast where guests gather, share travel tips, etc., and no home baked cookies waiting for us after a day of trekking. The entrance to the building is loose gravel (not paved) so making wheeling suitcases to the door impossible. Our unit has a small sitting room, a bedroom and bath, but no closet and no dressers — so be prepared to live out of your suitcases during your stay here. We met the couple staying upstairs from our West Room unit. During our brief friendly chat, they said that they can hear every word we’re saying downstairs, and we were just talking at a normal volume sitting on the sofa. We told them when they walk around upstairs sounds like someone’s rearranging furniture! We all agreed that the walls are really thin in this house.
