Qianjing Xiaozhu Boutique Hotel

This is one of the best hotels I have been to and I highly recommend booking here if it's your first time visiting China. The hotel is located in an old part of the city where you can see people's daily life and there are many breakfast places nearby. The people are extra helpful whatever issue you have. They let me leave my luggages for five days while I was visiting another city and even helped me with taxis and Didi. Next time I will definitely book here again. The hotel is not easy to find so I recommend looking it up on Baidu Maps and/or downloading WeChat to interact with the owner before your arrival, so you will get all informations to reach the hotel. There are two entrances.

The location is strategic, close to a lot of locations Shower is great. The service is good and friendly.

The hotel is located in a little typical Chinese back alley, that for Westerners might be a bit scary in the evening, but is actually okay and safe. The owners are very proud of their hotel, friendly and would do do everything to make your stay convenient. Nevertheless, compared to other great historical hotels we have visited during our tour through China, we cannot comply with the very emphatic wish of the owner to give him a 5-star-ranking. But is a good and solid 3 stars hotel, where you get what you paid for. The beds were good and clean, as were the shower and washbasin. It is a nice old building. The rooms we have been to were both a bit shabby though, with peeling window stickers, loose curtains that looked like they might could use a washing, loose faucets and smelly bathrooms, where the toilets had serious flushing problems (even though we complied to the wishes of putting the toilet paper into the provided basket). Of course it is an old building that might come with certain problems, but compared to other historic hotels not neccessarily so. If the Bund and Nanjing Road are important to you, it‘s a very good location, but bus and MTR system are great in Shanghai, so next time we personally might choose a different location that‘s less busy.

Nice hotel in an old back alley. A little hard to find, but the people on the street could point me the way. Clean and big room with separate batheoom. Even though I arrived early in the Morning I got a room available.

The service is excellent and very friendly. They also speak some English. But I feel like they should be more honest about the location. The hotel is hidden in a dark, dirty and smelly alley. It doesn’t feel very safe either. It was kind of interesting to see that corner of the city and the street food in this area was good but I would have not booked it if I had known about the environment beforehand. The design of the hotel and room is ok but the room was not very clean. There was hair on the walls and sink. The corners and walls were also quite dirty. It makes you feel like you should not walk around bare feet. But the bed was clean.
