This hotel was absolutely amazing for a week stay to just relax! Location was so close to Jing’an Temple, plenty of shopping and a quick metro ride to The Bund! The staff were all absolutely wonderful, cannot thank them enough for such a wonderful stay! The food in the onsite restaurant, Portman’s, was perfect too, with the breakfast buffet being an excellent way to start the day!

This is not a 5 star hotel by Chinese standards. The amenities in the room are very old and fixed to the wall, like the hair dryer. All other hotels in China have Dyson or Dyson-standard hair dryers for use anywhere in the room, this was very old and attached the drawer in the bathroom. The furniture is very old and outdated. The service is poor compared to others in China : waiting in line at the lobby without being offered tea or water, no robot to bring you food deliveries to your rooms,  no brining your bags or showing you where the room is, no explanation of the amenities on location, and being disturbed in your room such as ringing the bell several times to order turn down service when we didn’t respond the first time. All of these are standards at 3-5 star hotels in China. I booked this hoping of an ‘extra special Ritz-like experience’ but it was sub-par for industry standards in the country. Just because it is a western brand it attracts people, I would not stay again, disappointing.

Posh hotel with great location. As for service, I would just say inattentive service. Guest relations people chatting among themselves at the lobby while guest waiting for lift. Also, housekeeping is decent but living up to the standard of hotels of this category. Overall, if not for its location, I would choose alternatives if possible. Maybe, I should the next time I come to Shanghai.

Absolutely friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful view and lobby albeit slightly dated room. Had to wait for my room past 2pm but that was acceptable. Overall excellent! Would recommend.

Good reception and the front desk Serena is very friendly and helpful. I have a wonderful breakfast and it is full of delicious food.

Had an amazing stay here! Had a complimentary room upgrade upon check in and the hotel also accommodated my request to check out late. Room is spacious and clean. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Every hotel staff I met were very polite. Hotel is situated between Jing A Temple station and Nanjing West Road station, about a 10mins walk to both. Will definitely stay here again if I come back to Shanghai.

I went during Christmas. Air-condition was blowing hot air. Room was too hot even when I turned off the air. I had to ask for fan to cool off. Rooms are a bit old. But excellent location. Bar attendants do not know their wine. I asked for port wine. This seemed difficult for them.

The Portman-Ritz is always a go to stay for the holidays. My only complaint is that the rooms are super hot in the winter even with everything off. There are no windows to open to cool the room down.

its close to our office and convenient to nearby business meeting points. also lots of restaurants and malls nearby believe its good for leisure travellers too. good service and room is clean.

With the price I paid for Ritz Carlton brand - no value . As a Ritz Carlton brand there is no coffee machine provided in room . Only give three packets of instant coffee mixed. Bedroom slipper provided are so off brand standard.
