Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Tangzhen

Location is quiet, spacious room and there are a few small to medium malls nearby including a big supermarket & Decathlon. Tangzhen metro station (Exit 3) Line 2 is about 7-10 minutes walk. Breakfast is substantial and mostly the same daily. Rooms are quiet except for neighbouring doors closing loudly. Good daily housekeeping but when we put the card for change of bedsheet after 4 days, we could see the sheets were crumpled with use and unsure if the sheets were changed. We decided not to place the card again for the rest of our 9-night stay. Tea bags sometimes not replenished depending on which cleaner. A nice cleaner placed more than 2 bottles of water in our room when she/he noticed we consumed 4 bottles. Free to take at reception if need more. Laundry room and gym are on 4th floor and can get quite noisy and smell of cigarette. When using the washing machine, we put half spoon laundry powder or less because we discovered if put too much the clothes tend to be soapy after wash. Fast Check-In and Check-Out. Toothbrush, toothpaste, shaver, comb, hair-dryer, iron and ironing board provided. Most of staff at reception were friendly & helpful. Air-conditioning/heat can be controlled. Overall a pleasant and comfortable stay although could see the bathroom is getting old from wear & tear.

Service: The front desk staff, possibly named Lancy, was very helpful. She assisted with an early check-in, allowing us to access the room right away when we arrived around 10 a.m. and also can late check-out around 2 pn. Although the room normally doesn’t have a refrigerator, we requested one and it was delivered to our room promptly. Room: The room was clean and more spacious than expected, with two seating areas and the double-layer blackout curtains. There was also an iron and ironing board, and the soundproofing was good. However, the room lighting was warm-toned (orange), and the bathroom did not have a bidet spray. Location: The hotel is not far from the airport. There aren’t many restaurants around the hotel just a few restaurants nearby but still have a coffee shop, a bakery, a local convenience store. The metro station is about a 7–10 minute walk away, and around the metro there are more dining options since it’s located in a shopping mall that also has a supermarket and a small playground for children. Didi cars can be called right in front of the hotel. Breakfast: The room rate included breakfast, which was decent. There were noodles, salad, porridge, and a small selection of bread, as well as a free coffee with coffee machine. Bottle of water is available at the front desk. However, the quality of the hotel’s food (i ordered for dinner) was not very good. It’s tasted like a frozen food.

The stuff was very friendly and polite. The manager speaks very good English. He was very helpful. The metro station is not far, across the bridge. Grocery store is nearby, too, in a mall.
