Anting Villa Hotel is not a modern monolith of a hotel... but an elegant return to the past. I truly enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable and the staff was friendly. Metro line 1 is an extremely short walk away making travel around the city fairly easy. Unfortunately, between the May Day holiday and construction on the other buildings, the gym was closed and the hotel restaurant was only working the breakfast service. Speaking of, the breakfast service was delightful. There were plenty of options for those with both local and Western tastes.

This is by far my favorite hotel in Shanghai. Located in the heart of the city yet nestled within a beautiful park, waking up here each morning feels like an incredible luxury—peace and serenity right in the middle of the urban hustle. The hotel exudes history and elegance. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a classic style, warm and refined. Every detail reflects a sense of timeless charm. I would especially like to praise Ms. Huang Caifeng at the front desk. From the very first day of my stay, she was always helpful, professional, and genuinely kind. Her warm smile and proactive approach made me feel truly welcome. She goes above and beyond to ensure that guests are cared for. Having someone like her on the team is what truly elevates a stay from good to unforgettable. Whenever I’m in Shanghai, I always stay at the Anting Villa. It has that classic charm that reflects the colonial-era character of the French Concession—elegant, a bit old-fashioned compared to sleek modern hotels, but that’s part of what makes it special. The service is consistently helpful, always ready to assist with anything you need. The location is unbeatable: just a short walk to the metro and surrounded by great bars and cafes. Special shout-out to Union Trading Company nearby—amazing cocktails and excellent service. Can’t recommend the area or the hotel enough.

As usual, very good experience. It's one of the calmest and most beautiful hotels in Shanghai. Perfect location, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Thank you.

Nice hotel in a wonderful location but the sauna and gym were unusable.

great location in the French Quarter -- on a nice quiet street. nice grounds. Remodeling is a completely separate building, so did not disturb the main building. nice grass and nice grounds. Rare for this location.

Super helpful reception staff

The hotel staff are extremely helpful; especially the front desk workers! I have encountered many obstacles throughout my stay in Shanghai and the staff are patient, resourceful, and efficient to resolving all my obstacles. 嚴曉珍, one of the front desk workers, who is warm, friendly, and professional and has high problem solving skills! The hotel is very lucky to have a staff like her! The location is really nice! The neighborhood is beautiful and convenient. You can find nice restaurants, cafes, and bars. All in walking distance! I highly recommend this hotel to all kinds of travelers; business or pleasure!

It's an excellent stay in this nice boutique hotel. Beautiful garden, great location easy to access to the subway and other places. The staffs are friendly, particularly Mr Wu at lobby looks after us very well. We will come back again to stay in this hotel.

A good hotel for this price, with a pleasant retro ambiance. The location is excellent. The food is good and cheap for this location. Beds are comfortable.
