Oriental Riverside Hotel Shanghai (Shanghai International Convention Center) recensioner

This was one of the most enjoyable hotels of our entire trip! Great location, helpful staff, clean, beautiful, and wonderful amenities! Pictured is me enjoying a cappuccino while looking out over The Bund of Shanghai from our river view room.

5-stars hotel located walking distance from Lujiazui (陆家嘴) metro station and Huangpu river! This hotel is one of Chinese State-owned enterprises in Shanghai with the great location and scenery. Although it's old hotel, but inside and outside has well maintenance, so looks new. However, when we checked in, hotel required 500rmb for deposit, which didn't notify while we're booking. (Hotel will refund when we check out)- Breakfast is good you can't wear hotel slippers outside the room or breakfast areas too.

Nice view and nice location! It is very convenient to access MRT and Mall.

The facilities are great. Enjoy a lot, but hope the staffs can be friendlier.

River view of our hotel room is wonderful. The room is clean and comfortable. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet. The food is so so. The only reason to justify the cost is the view. Right behind the hotel (go out of the lobby, turn right and turn the corner) is an running/biking trail. We took a nice stroll in the morning. Service of the hotel staff is generally good with a miss here and there. The hotel is 15 min walk to the nearest subway station. We tried to hail a taxi to the hotel which is difficult due to complicated road design around the subway exits. We ended up walking to hotel which was quite an exercise carrying two suitcases each.

Excellent stay. Friendly service to western travellers speaking English. The concierge staff were very helpful to us.

Though, the Hotel location & staff's attitude are good but, Hotel's interior are a bit worn out. Lift also does not have the usual Security measures that required Hotel's room card to access, anyone can just go into the Lift and to all the Hotel's floors.

Staff are very professional and yet hospitable like Lynn from Front Desk. I love staying in this hotel because of the view of The Bund by the river. Breakfast is delicious. Room is spacious, clean and i like it a lot.

Great Location, Questionable Ethics The hotel is all about “location, location, location,” this hotel nailed that part. Nestled in the heart of Shanghai, right next to Shanghai Pearl Tower. But that’s where the good news ends. Safety Deposit or Safety Gone? The hotel charges a whopping 500 RMB per night as a safety deposit. Yes, per night. It’s almost as if they think guests get riskier the longer they stay. So after a 7-night stay, I was 3,500 RMB (about $500 USD) deep in “safety.” Upon checkout, I expected the usual routine: subtract the charges (around 240 RMB for in-room dining and maybe 500 RMB for early check-in), and refund the rest. Even the receptionist confirmed I’d be getting back close to $400. Surprise! They refunded 112 USD. Just… that. Don’t worry, I’ve already prepared my credit card dispute—and maybe even some popcorn to watch this financial drama unfold. Emergency? More Like Emergency Charge In the middle of my stay, I had a medical emergency. Naturally, I asked the front desk for help calling an ambulance. Their answer? No. But hey, they did offer me a wheelchair—for a fee. Over $100 USD per day just to move around the hotel while I could barely stand. That’s not customer service And yes, I still had 5 more nights booked. At that point, I began to wonder if I was in a hotel or an escape room. Love Shanghai, Avoid This Hotel It was my first time in China, and Shanghai completely stole my heart. The food, the people, the skyline—it was everything I hoped for. But this hotel? It stole my deposit and ghosted me afterward. So yes, I’ll be back to this incredible city. No, I will never stay at this hotel again. Unless, of course, I want to experience what it’s like to get robbed politely at check-in twice 🤣

Fabulous location, comfortable rooms, attentive polite staff. I could spend hours watching the river. Enjoyed food and drink at the summer barbecue. Good air conditioning, bath and shower and all necessary aspects related to those things. There was plenty of drinking water provided There was a kettle and cups and yet no tea nor coffee provided.

WiFi very poor reception. Almost none or minimal connectivity. I can’t imagine what your convention guests will think

This hotel is fantastic. We decide to upgrade our room to be river side. The view is very superb. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is great. Do not forget to take picture beside the river especially in the night. You can see the Bund very clearly and beautiful.
