Rezen Murray Hotel (Shanghai Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street)

The location of the hotel is extremely convenient. It’s situated right on Nanjing Pedestrian Road, making it easy to explore the heart of the city. There are plenty of restaurants and food nearby. The famous Bund is also within walking distance. The room, while not as spacious as we had expected, was still adequate for two people. It was clean and well-maintained, providing a decent level of comfort for a short stay. However, we did encounter a few issues during our time at the hotel. Firstly, the design of the shower area caused water to flow out into the toilet space after use. This was a bit inconvenient as it made the bathroom floor wet and slippery. Secondly and more concerning, was an incident involving the housekeeping staff. On the second morning of our stay, we went out for breakfast without placing a “Please Clean Room” sign on the outside door. Surprisingly, when we returned from L9 cafeteria to L3 room, we found that the cleaning staff had entered and was in the middle of tidying the room. We were quite shocked, especially since we had not requested housekeeping service, nor were we informed that staff would be entering the room by default. This was particularly worrying because we had left personal belongings, including a wallet and a mobile phone inside the room unattended. It is same incident happened to other room in L2 as well during our stay. I was curious if someone showering and sleeping in the room, the cleaner will suddenly pop out for cleaning without informed?! Sounds unsafe. While we appreciate the staff’s efforts to keep the room clean, we believe that guests should be notified or asked for permission before anyone enters the room. This would help ensure both privacy and security for hotel guests.

This was the second time that we stayed in this hotel. Not a big hotel, but it is fully equiped with all we needed. Room is clean and recently renovated. Breakfast is good but nothing special. Fried rice, fried noodle, fried vegetable, boiled egg, fried sausage, fried egg, fresh noodle counter, congee, bread and butter, conflake, dessert, fruit, coffee, tea, soy milk can be expected. Choose table near the window in the breakfast room to enjoy upper part of pearl tower and shanghai tower view. Staff is nice and polite. All of them cannot speak english but they will talk to you using translator.

It was a great experience staying in this location, the room was great, service amazing and also is near of nanjing road and metro stations it’s a 10/10

We got 2 double bed rooms with no windows, one in the purple and another with blue furnishings. Purple rooms are smaller but more modern. Shower and toilet surrounded by glass with curtain separating from room. Blue rooms are plainer but larger and have enclosed bathrooms, but furniture feels a bit dated but maybe intended with the retro feel of the hotel! Basic room amenities include bottled water, kettle but no tea or coffee, towels, slippers, toiletries and hair dryer. We had slightly noisy air-conditioning and were very accomodating in helping quickly switch rooms. Not expensive hotel, mins walk to Nanjing Rd and super convenient People's Square station to most attractions. Good for those who looking for a place to sleep without much fuss 🙂

Location was everything! Walking distance to many attractions ( The Bund, Nanjing Street, Yu Garden, many museums, mini markets, and many many restaurants!) Metro stations all around! Oh and parks galore.
