Xiangyuan Hotel (Shangri-La Bus Station)

Room was very big and well equipped, including a washing machine and a fridge (fridge wasn't turned on so I didn't use it but the washing machine was great). Plenty of cupboard and shelf space to store luggage and clothes. It had a nice bay window seat which was cool. Bed was massive and very comfortable. Bathroom (seperate shower and toilet) were fine, could have been cleaner but it was ok. Location is good, about 45 minutes walk to the lake in front of Songzanlin Monastery (go there for sunrise!) and similar time to the ancient town, and there's bus stations outside so it's also well connected. The service was good, the lady was very quiet but helpful enough. Overall, it was good value for money.

The bed is so comfortable, and the location is perfect to take an early-bus, thank you very much

The hotel is very close to the bus terminal, however, it still took me some time to find even when using Baidu maps. I arrived at around 2-2:30pm, but there was no staff there. There was a notice that staff is away and you could call, but as a foreign traveler I cannot really talk on phone in Chinese, so it was troublesome. I had to wait for 30 min. When the staff arrived, my room was still not ready, so I waited more. Unfortunately, room was not completely clean. And some furniture is not in it’s best condition. Washing machine in the room was quite convenient though! Not really recommended, although ok to stay for 1 night if you take an early coach from the bus terminal, as it is really close, just 3 min walk.

This hotel is newly built in 2023 but wear and tear are showing already as the quality of the fittings are not very good. Maintenance is poor and minimal. The toilet, shower room , kitchen sink are dirty. Security is not good as the hotel door is left wide open and the receptionist is often not at the station. Delivery personnel can go up and down with no check. However, there are many amenities provided, the best is the washer/dryer with detergent in the room. Not many hotel do that. Price is cheap so cannot complain.
