Tiger Leaping Gorge Halfway Guest House recensioner

Great little basic hotel with excellent restaurant. Food was tasty but wasn’t fresh - probably batch cooked and microwaved still can’t complain and there’s a good choice. The Yak stew was delicious. Beds comfy and having the balcony with the amazing view is incredible! Just amazing.

The location is about 2 hours walk from Tea Horse Guest House. The room was clean and comfortable. The disposable towel was functional but we had issue with the hot water for the shower which took a bit too long to become warm. The view of the mountain right from the balcony of our room was priceless. We had pancake and muesli for breakfast which we think was filling and tasty. The person at the reception counter speaks english well and ordered a taxi for us the next day as requested. The coffee at the cafe was satisfactory and the view from the window.. cant beat that.. Highly recommended stay after a long 7 hours hike.

booked 1 month in advance to secure room. decent view from my room. disposable toothbrush and toothpaste, slippers and hairdryer provided. towels not provided during my stay. can eat dinner and lunch at the restaurant downstair, have their own convenience store outside too to buy water etc

Bunk mates was awesome after a tedious hike. Basic amenities was provided. Bed was comfy. But do bring a oxygen can along. Night air kinda thin..

Clean room with great view. Only downside was that towel was not provided. Requested for it but staff at the reception mentioned that the towel can be found in the washroom, but it was not there. Went to request for it again but reception was closed. Nonetheless, I believe my experience is one-off as other reviews mentioned that towels are provided. Would still return for future stay.

This long standing guesthouse is a must stay in many ways if you are visiting Tiger Leaping Gorge - with outstanding views and definitely a perfect location for staying the second night if you are walking the gorge over 3 days. The bedrooms are large and clean and warm. The hotel staff are very helpful both in person and over WeChat - especially when you are doing the gorge walk and want some help with directions. There are great drinks in the bar including local craft beer. A few things that we would note though. Firstly given the price of the room, there absolutely should be real bath towels instead of very unsatisfactory disposable ones. Secondly I do not recommend booking the most expensive top floor rooms because the noise that comes through the roof from the upstairs area (bar/coffee shop/terrace) is very bad and constant (including waking us up in the morning). You would get just as good a view from the lower level rooms but without the terrible noise. Lastly it would be nice if the restaurant included a few western food options for lunch and dinner - the Chinese food we had was great but tired international tourists (and there are more and more of us!) often want comfort food after a long day’s hike.

Good place to stop for the night while hiking. Staff weren't particularly friendly but it's pretty busy there. Restaurant food was good. Room was fine. Basic room with incredible views from the small balcony!

the mountain view is awesome. the sound proofing of the room is poor...can hear laud noise by the rooms upstairs.

The location is stunning - with the grandeur of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain up close and personal. The room is spacious, has a balcony facing the mountain and two queen beds. The restaurant is a proper Chinese restaurant and is good and the cafe on the rooftop is comfortable.The staff is responsive and the owner is very hands-on and goes round to talk to guests during dinner time. Location is about 2km scenic walk to a waterfall. Would highly recommend!!

This hostel lives up to its reputation. I slept in a shared male room which was very clean and functional. The views from both the room and the terrace where outstanding. The food in the cantine was also very good and price was reasonable. The bar was also very cozy. I definitely recommend staing here during your Tiger Leaping Gorge hike.

Easy to find, staff spoke some English, amazing view, good food and clean rooms for the shared rooms. Was a great stay and would always come again.

What a beautiful hotel! It's a big place with lots of rooms, restaurant and coffee house. You can't beat the views! Drinks and coffees are great upstairs (coffee is a bit expensive), the food is good and the staff is helpful. Our room was just amazing! Very luxurious feeling and amazing views. You need to book this place on time if you want to stay here! It always seems packed.

I stayed in a shared room and felt that for the price I paid I got my money’s worth. The amenities were clean and there is running hot water here. The bed was hard, however, and was a little challenging to get comfortable in. That said, the Halfway Inn is a great pit stop if you’re trekking across the Gorge. Friendly staff, delicious food, and incredible views over the Hongba and Yulong Snow Mountains—whether that be from the restaurant or the famous loo!—complete an enjoyable experience at the hostel.

Cosy and comfortable stay at Tiger Leaping Gorge. Was a wonderful and clean space to rest the feet after a long trek!
