Serena Shigar Fort

This is the second Serena property on our trip. I was truly amazed by the restoration of the fort and conversion into a hotel. There are no lifts. You will need to walk up the stairs like they did centuries ago. The rooms and showers are all modern but the retained some of the old furniture to give an authentic look and feel. Buffet breakfast was excellent. It is another property I will return to when I visit this place again.

I recently stayed at Serena Fort Hotel in Skardu with our family, and our experience was truly memorable. The restaurant offered a delightful array of local and international cuisines, and we thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The hospitality of the staff was exceptional.

We had a very warm welcome from the staff and place was scenic and beautiful. Great place to unwind. Breakfast outside was unforgettable and the atmosphere was great in the evenings too. All round a great place to spend a few days to get close to nature. Staff were very welcoming.

Urgent attention is required to maintain the facilities. i.e. Wash room was smelly, door lock was broken, corridor chairs were dusty. Food was too oily and no choice was available for less oily food. No zoom facilities were available i.ei webcam etc.outdoor sitting chairs were dusty etc.

Another disappointing Serena. Carpets were dirty, bathroom smells, restaurant staff not friendly or welcoming - felt like we were a bother. Electricity iffy, heated by a portable heater which fell over but fortunately we were still in the room. Bathroom light did not turn off so had to sleep with the door closed and leaking light. Shower was like a faucet - water trickled out straight down. We told front desk but they didnt do anything. Warm water in shower at a premium. Needs to run for a long time. The TV came on at 6:30am waking us up. We had not set it for wake up or such and it came on again unprompted later. Very surprised that Serena has this hotel as it is not what I would expect from a Serena. Again not sure why people are rating the hotel as a four star as it is not that by any standards. Even in Pakistan it would be a three at best and in my view, really stretching it.

Beautifully located hotel set in its own beautiful garden. Old and new merged wonderfully. All amenities provided. Wi Fi a little unpredictable at times due to local issues. Staff friendly and very helpful. On site food in restaurant excellent and plentiful
