The Bygone

Situated only 0.4ks from the centre of Siem Reap La Pax Lane leads you to another world at the Bygone. Just walking through the gate I felt embraced by the peaceful atmosphere of the Bygone and the wonderful smiling welcome from the staff made me feel absolutely at home. My beautiful room was absolutely poolside which I loved, the water was so refreshing after my return from daily adventures. Owners Garry & Wendy are exceptional people, running the Bygone as a social enterprise which supports the NGO Heartprint which they co founded. They are committed in every way to advising and organising the guests with any aspects of their itineraries to get the most out of their visit. The food was delicious, best Fish Amok I tasted in Cambodia. I also fell in love with the best, most refreshing iced coffees, just can’t get them like that here in Australia, I had dreamed for years of visiting the Angkor sites and seeing the trees of Ta Prohm and knew I would find magic there. After staying at the Bygone I knew I had found another kind of magic there. Thank you so much Garry, Wendy and your team. I’m already planning a return visit in 2025. Yet another great meal here. Fantastic staff and service. A small shop to buy your presents for yourself and others. Also, great advice on tourist activity options. Tranquil and you can also sit quietly and decide to 'Let Bygones be Bygones'. Will certainly be back again.

A very special place - I have been many times with family and friends and alone. The cheery smiles of the staff and their warmth always melts my heart and the food is wonderful. The setting is quiet, charming and relaxing and the gift shop showcases some of the most unique handcrafted gifts you can find anywhere in the world - created in workshops run by Heartprint - an NGO that improves the lives of many Cambodian families and is inspiring to learn about. Not to be missed!!

Our experience at the Bygone was outstanding! The property is gorgeous with an inviting pool, and our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The owners and staff were amazing and arranged everything for us to do exactly what we wanted during our stay. their tuktuk driver Sopiah was delightful and took us to all the temples at the best times of day to avoid crowds and heat. They also arranged our boat trip to the floating village which we also recommend. The food and beverages at the restaurant were really delicious and they readily accommodated my food restrictions, I think the most expensive items on the menu were only $4! From the moment we arrived with an airport pickup to our departure 3 days later all our needs were met with incredible care and consideration. We really cherish our experience at the Bygone.

We are frequent travellers to Siem Reap, and The Bygone is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and very well maintained and appointed. Our room had a king size double bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious and included a bathtub. The hotel is located away from the hussle and bustle, yet every part of Siem Reap is easily accessible via a two dollar tuk-tuk ride, or you can stroll along the nearby river. The breakfasts are excellent with a wide selection of options included in the cost. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner, and we ended up eating there almost every night - something we don't usually do. The talented cooks are happy to customise meals also, and skillfully catered for my wife's dietary requirements. The owners are amazingly helpful and friendly, and the staff are talented and wonderful, and they made our stay there a very joyful experience.

This delightful little boutique hotel is cleverly located on a quiet lane just 20 minutes walk from the central tourist area. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable, with tasteful embellishments reflecting the history of the area. The Bygone Cafe serves tasty, freshly prepared meals drawing on Khmer and western favourites. Our hosts eagerly catered to my gluten free needs and the staff all willingly prepared meals that were delicious and thoughtful. The hotel has a generously sized pool, perfect for cooling down on a hot Cambodian afternoon. Our hosts organised drivers and tour guides to ensure the best experience for guests. We have visited Siem Reap about 15 times in the las 12 years and the Bygone is by far the loveliest and friendliest place we have ever stayed.
