Golden Beach Resort recensioner

It's too bad I couldn't read reviews about this place in low season. I was not so much confused by the rains, which fell for 70% of our vacation, as the color of the water in the sea. It is dirty, yellow-green in color. In general, the hotel is good. The territory is very beautiful. Very clean and well-kept. There are not enough personal hygiene products in the room. A restaurant with delicious dishes! Foreign cooks work, which was very surprising. I would return to this place, but in high season.

We were unfortunate to travel during low season, which in Koh Rong means 99% rain everyday, by conversations with locals they are fully aware of this yet all bookings and activities are business as usual but cannot be enjoyed, such as snorkling, BBQ boat etc. because of the weather we were stuck in the hotel 90% of the time, there is NO TV (it does say in room amenities, I read too late) so just be aware, specially if travelling with little ones. The pool is not an option because of thunder and lighting. It costs 15USD to get to the hotel from the pier. There is no ATM on the island only one stall that lets you use your card to pay the local then they give you the money, this is charged at 8% 😡 This is important because for lack of internet connection you cant always use card to pay at restaurant for your lunches and dinner, also when you can, there is a 3% fee to do so. All activities must also be paid in USD but old rugged bills are not accepted even if they have been given to you by other traders ib the island or if the bills got a bit wet in the rain, which was a frequent problem.So come with plenty of new dollars or you'll find yourself stuck with little options. the night before check out, we asked the staff to please let the ferry company know we would be taking the 9:30am ferry to Sihakouville (as instructed by the ferry company). We booked a 9:00am return trip to the pier as recommended. However as we arrived the ferry was leaving, at 9:15. We were not the only ones left behind. Some people had a flight to catch later that day and were made to pay another 17USD per person as according to them it was "impossible" to fit them into one of the almost-empty-boats of one of the other many ferry companies, because they dont work together, some families payed up to 70USD to not miss their flight despite it not being their fault. The hotel was standard, for a beach hotel, nice huts, the beds were clean and comfortable and the highlight was definitely the food at the restaurant, over the 4 days, we tried many dishes all of them delicious. I can imagine during sunny season it must be a beautiful location and a beautiful hotel. saying this, I already thought it was overpriced for low season compared to similar hotels in Thailand and Bali, so for me the price you would pay in high season I would not consider it, specially given the whole experience with the ferry and USDs. ☹️

Very exciting place and resort fecilities.

非常棒的酒店，離soksan 碼頭很近，定了海景房，景色太美，酒店設施齊全，有健身房有spa,服務人員很熱情，唯一不足的就是早餐每天都一樣選擇性不多

一對波蘭夫妻是老闆，酒店員工很nice，吃的也不錯，在門口的沙灘上躺椅上躺一天很舒服…就是島上太曬了…

Le resort est agréable, les chambres spacieuses et la literie parfaite. Aménagement moderne et confortable. La plage est propre, quelques mouches de sable tout de même autour des transats. Nous avons passé un agréable week-end.

Simply loved it. You can pick out minor areas of improvement if you want (breakfast & WiFi) but really that sounds nitpicking. The staff were BRILLIANT, simply couldn’t do enough. The only problem was wrenching ourselves away after 6 nights 😢

We stayed at Golden beach for 5 nights and loved it. The staff were incredibly helpful, they helped us figure out where to go on the island and how to best use our time! The food was good too. Sok San was a great home base for exploring the rest of the island.

It's evident that Karolina's departure from the resort will be a significant loss, as her dedication to customer satisfaction is unparalleled. Her high standard of customer service will be sorely missed and it will probably be impossible to adequately replace her. In addition to Karolina's outstanding service, the resort itself offers a serene and relaxing environment. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, providing everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The resort's location, nestled on the shores of Koh Rong, is perfect for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. Overall, Golden Beach Resort is a hidden gem on Koh Rong, made even more special by the exceptional hospitality of Karolina and her team. While we are saddened by the news of her departure, we are grateful for the unforgettable memories she helped create during our stay.

PROS - Nice bungalows - Nice pool area - Right on the beach - The receptionist Chanrath is very friendly, helpful and super sweet. - The waitress Chanthorn is so nice, and she really does her best despite having way too much to do. CONS - Hotel appears poorly managed and understaffed. - Wifi is unreliable, internet is unavailable most of the time. - Long wait time (1 hour) both for food and drinks. Lots of mixups in orders, both because of language/communication issues, and general lack of organization. - Breakfast buffet selection is limited. Some days the food was warm, other days not. - Pick up service seems unreliable. Did not show up at agreed time. We had to call the hotel. Other customers were not picked up at all. - Beach is not well taken care of. Garbage is not really collected. Seems like they try to hide most of it under the sand when evening out the sand in the morning. Beach towels are not collected. I collected garbage around the sun beds every morning, which is often considered a job for the staff. - New years eve the hotel arranged bbq and entertainment. Next morning was a total mess. Beach was not cleaned, and full of garbage. Breakfast was cold, and there was not enough food. The bar area was full of used beer glasses and dishes, which were not cleaned until after midday. I myself got several garbage bags from reception, and filled them with trash from the beach. - Boat trips offered by the hotel are crowded and expensive. We booked a private trip elsewhere for a lot less. Not a 5 star resort, as they claim to be. Not worth the price.

This is a MUST for anyone travelling Cambodia, it’s in Rong island, Sok San village, do yourself a big favour and book this hotel while there is availability, you’ll thank me.. The location is perfect, literally 2 minute walk from the port (and they even send someone to collect you) The sand is white, the sea is blue the sunrises and sunsets are out of this world.. The rooms are perfect, either looking out at the pool, gardens or sea (we had a sea view) you won’t be disappointed.. One of the best pasta I have ever tasted was right here The staff and owners cannot do enough for you, it’s just paradise from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, and you won’t want to do that. As I said get booking this hotel, you’ll never want to leave

Karolina and chantra run the resort in a wonderful personal way. Unfortunally we could not meet each other in Phnom Penh, cause they arrived the day we left the City heading to Bangkok. The village Sok San is not a party mile like Koh Touch. But it is a charming village with a bunch of nice restaurants. Nevertheless the restaurant of the resort is probably one of the best of the island. The pools are flawless and the beach is breathtaking. In high season you can book a ferry right to the pier of sok san. Otherwise they will pick you up at Koh Touch. And if you in celebratory mood take a Tuk-Tuk to Koh Touch and be happy you do not have to stay there. Best beach, marvelous rooms and a wonderful Service? Go for the Golden Beach resort in Sok San! We had a wonderful stay of 11 nights there!

Great food and location. We didn’t stay the night so can’t comment on the rooms. Yet they looked amazing. As did the pool. We did use their beach facilities which were excellent. So were the drinks food and service. A lovely beach so will have to come back to stay the night.

My husband and I visited the Golden Beach's restaurant few times during our stay on Koh Rong. I believe it's the best resort restaurant on the island. As a vegetarian, I could chose from many vegetarian options which weren't just fried rice or noodles with small amount of vegetables like in other places. The restaurant offers tofu which is impossible to get in all restaurants on the island, so I could finally get some proteins. Meals are big and delicious, well seasoned. The restaurant is clean and tidy, the toilet looks good, restaurant staff is helpfull and polite. The resort looks beautiful and has a high standard. I definitely recommend visiting for a meal. The owners of the resort are lovely: chatty, friendly, open minded, they share their stories and experiences on living on Koh Rong. Great people.
