Davis Square Inn

Davis Square Inn was perfect for our recent weekend visit. Comfortable room and breakfast, lovely inn, accommodating hosts, convenient off-street parking. Loved the cat. The location is an easy walk to Davis Square (and to our son's home). We found that several other guests were also in town to visit family. Highly recommend - we'll be back.

For many years, we traveled several times a month, but the pandemic shut that down. The Davis Square Inn was one of the few hotels we have stayed in in the past 2.5 years and was by far the best! The house, the rooms and the grounds are all beautiful. The owners are thoughtful and very careful about covid. The breakfast was good (especially the different home baked treats each day). There is parking (a big plus for Somerville!) and it is easy walking distance to Davis Square. For the Boston area the price is quite reasonable. We will return!

Excellent B & B in Somerville. There are not hotels in Davis Square so this is perfect. Rooms are comfortable (I've stayed here twice) and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. I was traveling alone and felt very safe and comfortable. About a 5 minute walk to Davis Square with many restaurant options and T station. I arrived early so cleaning staff were very considerate and cleaned my room first and came and got me when it was ready. Beautiful garden on the side. Other guest were polite and friendly.

Pros: As a solo traveler, I appreciated that the inn was in a safe neighborhood, conveniently close (within walking distance) to the T station. The landscaping was well-maintained with lovely flowers and comfy Adirondack chairs. The indoor area and my room were meticulously cleaned. I skipped breakfast but when I requested an early meal option, I was accommodated with a generous serving of fresh fruit, yogurt, bread, and hard boiled eggs. I was initially concerned about a shared bathroom, but it, too, was immaculate. The toiletries (shampoo, soap, and conditioner) were generously provided, not in tiny sampler sizes but in big bottles. The bathrobe was a welcome addition. The room temperature could be adjusted to one's liking. Cons: The stairs are steep and narrow especially for someone like me with weak knees hauling my luggage up to the third floor. The walls are thin so trying to get over jet lag is difficult with some guests who talk loudly and let their toddler cry on and on. If you are familiar with the tale of 'Beauty and the Beast,' recall the time Belle's father visited the Beast's castle. Everything in the palace was impeccable and just magically appeared. So it was with this inn since I didn't encounter the owners/managers during my entire stay (until the very end) , but I was supplied with all my needs. Belle's father finally met the raging beast. I, too, finally saw a manager/owner/employee on my last day as I was about to depart. I don't know who this person was who entered the inn and headed for the dining right past me since she did not introduce herself. She proceeded to tinker with the dirty dishes wordlessy, so I said 'Hi.' She just looked at me with a blank look and a perfunctory 'Hi' back, as if my interrupting her was a major offense. I then headed for the door with my luggage, obviously departing the premises, but no other words were exchanged. I actually did not mind the invisible hosts. In fact, I would have preferred being spared this unfriendly first and only encounter with an inn employee/owner. What would it have taken to be more hospitable especially for a departing guest? Thus, a satisfactory stay was ruined by the final few minutes I spent there with this one unpleasant contact.
