Sorell Barracks

Opened the door and faced a set of steep stairs with no hand rail. I would not like to carry a big bag up them and certainly not down. The room was in the roof so the ceiling was low with plenty of things to bang your head on. Overall the place needs decorating as it is very run down and past it best. However, whilst you could try to cover over some of the problems by saying it’s an old building and we are try to keep things in the style of the building, you cannot excuse the fact that the room needed a good clean. The bedside table was thick with dust, the bathroom had a layer of thick dust, the table in the “kitchen” section had food over it. When you are running a business you need to put some effort in. The only saving grace was that the shower was good. Would not return.

Our stay was cozy, comfy, and quiet. The hosts were very accomodating and really helpful. It has an old worldly charm to it, and is close to everything you need. My son who is 6.3 had to bend down to get under the doorways, so that made it entertaining.🤣

We have been touring Tasmania for three weeks, and this is the by far the best accommodation wr have been so far. Beautifully furnished, every detail perfect even a welcome basket with a note. Friendly hosts, I can not think of anything to fault in this place Thomas and Judy

What a great find. Close to the airport for a late evening arrival. The new owners have got things down pat. Cleanliness is A1. Authenticity is perfect. Continental breakfast provisions spot n. We stayed in a loft. We knew about the steep stairs and we’re ok with them. Great place for a couple of nights. Walk around Sorell, take a drive to Lewisham and Dodges Ferry, also the Tasmania Golf Club. Many thanks to Terry and Lyn.

Sleeping in history, surrounded by antiques, with wonderful friendly hosts. Warm and cosy. Beautiful gardens. Very easy check-in and off-street parking. Very comfortable & clean, hot water, all we needed for our stay. Highly recommend.

Arriving in Tassie after a long journey, nothing could have compared to the beautiful room at Sorell Barracks. Made full use of the spa bath and jets, and the bed was so very comfortable! It had everything we needed and more - plus a LOVELY wide sink top and mirror for us females. Terry was wonderful, and made booking the stay a pleasure. Would 100 per cent recommend for anyone!
