Art Hotel Gran Paradiso

This was a very last minute booking for us and we are so glad there was an option to upgrade to a superior sea view room as the view is what this hotel is all about. Our room was great with a wrap around terrace with lots of furniture to choose from (room 202). A special mention has to be made to the waiting staff in the bar and restaurants. They were so friendly but above all professional which was refreshing. The breakfasts were amazing. You were always welcomed by a waiter and asked for your coffee or tea order before you even sat down. The coffee was the best we have had for a long time. We ended up eating in the hotel every night purely because by the time we sat and watched the exceptional sunsets (around 8.30pm when we were there) we could not be bothered going into town. The food was great, always backed up by the exceptional service. A lot is made of the location of this hotel and the frequency of the shuttle bus. We never used the shuttle bus once, always preferring to walk. There is a shortcut to the main road which saves you having to walk down the busy narrow road and once you are there it is 20 minutes into the heart of Sorrento and 10 to Sant’Agnello which we actually preferred as it was much quieter. The walk back up the hill takes 9 minutes but you are rewarded with a lovely cold beer or prosecco at the pool bar as a reward. I would say if you are reasonably fit the location of this hotel should not cause you any issue. If you cannot be bothered walking anywhere or don’t like waiting for busses then perhaps look at alternative accommodation. I would add that I am currently experiencing lower back issues along with Achilles tendonitis and I managed absolutely fine. If I have to find fault with the room the only two things I can think of that would make it better are to have some drawers (there is a massive wardrobe though) and move the location of the toilet roll holder! Other than that this hotel is a wonderful haven away from the chaos of Sorrento town centre with stunning views and excellent service.

Loved the stunning location and the fabulous shuttle bus service to and from Sorrento. The view from the pool is breathtaking. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was delicious. We booked via easyJet who advertise the hotel as being an adults only hotel - however it isn’t and the hotel website does state that families with children are welcome. We had a premium room (116) which was very noisy in the early morning as we were above the kitchen. We would definitely return to the hotel - loved Sorrento - but would make sure to book a room overlooking the pool with the amazing view.

I have just stayed in this hotel last week and I honestly do not understand any of the negative reviews. My stay was absolutely sublime. The views (if you get a sea view room), are to die for. My room was spotlessly clean and the maids came daily. The staff are super friendly. I was bed and breakfast so did not try the lunch from the bar but did stay in one night and eat in the restaurant, which was the most beautiful lamb I have ever tasted. The staff are super friendly and really go above and beyond. I am gluten free, after mentioning this at breakfast the first morning, every single morning after that without fail they would rush over as soon as I sat down, with a basket of gluten free breads, pastries and biscuits for me to choose from to accompany my breakfast. I have never experienced the level of service they provide, anywhere else in the world and felt well and truly spoilt. The only minor downside, is the times of the shuttle bus back from town on an evening. One at 20:45 and one at 23:00. Could really do with an extra pick up inbetween those times. But otherwise, I genuinely cannot fault this hotel. A must stay in you’re going to Sorrento ❤️❤️

The stay was perfect, it was an absolute delight staying here. I would highly recommend as the service was fantastic. Rooms were great with a delightful view to wake up to. Plus we had a group retreat where only positive feedback was received as the staff provided a service above and beyond. Thank you so much and hope to be back soon.

Location is difficult to access with nothing in walking distance, but the views are very nice. Food was ok. General appearance was good but my bathroom trash had not been emptied after the previous guest and smelled foul. We requested an extra towel for a 3-person room (only 2 are provided) and were told, very rudely, “there’s nothing I can do”. He didn’t even take the room number to follow up. After a second request with escalated rudeness from the evening male employee, we were told “give me 10 mins but it likely won’t happen”. We eventually received a towel - such a minor request, right? When relaying the unfortunate interaction to the morning employee, her only response was, “but you received the towel.” Our takeaway was this rudeness was standard operating procedure for the venue. Avoid at all costs.

THE GREAT THINGS the staff .. excellent and helpful especially dining room staff The cleanliness.. everything was spotless The WiFi .. great signal all the time The views over sorrento The pool area was lovely NOT SO GREAT breakfast was just ok , small selection of most things except cakes .. loads and loads of cakes … Room .. we booked a standard room so had a tiny balcony looking onto a wall Room was on a par with a premier inn , bed was so comfortable but lack of space for clothes and no mirror near the dressing table … not designed with luxury or comfort The tv has only sky news in English , I think I would now expect a 4 star to provide some British tv channels The decor in the room .. painted white with drawings of bunting on the wall with a pencil also various parts of the wall shaded with a pencil … odd The sound proofing wasn’t great and could hear maids in their storeroom and basically every movement outside and above and below the room BAD I would say the minibus . Is is a bad point it runs on time etc but especially in the evening coming back it’s either 8.45 , a little early or 11pm , a little late .. also only the brits and the USA queue and show manners so basically it can be a free for all depending who is getting on.. if you are out for the day on a trip it’s a bit tiresome to then try and fit in your journey around the bus times , Inf you get a taxi from Sorrento it is only 5 mins but you can be charged anywhere between 20-30 euros . I wouldn’t stay here again because using the bus is very restrictive I would choose a hotel closer to the centre so I could come and go . In general trips to various points of interest are expensive, lots of queues involved every where .. I found capri , although it beautiful and lovely to see , as busy as Oxford st and pretty expensive .
