Dar Antonia

This place is really overpriced for what it is. Bedroom and bathroom were really small. The design of the property is awful. We stayed in a room above the dining room where there were 3/4 bedrooms in total. Getting to sleep at night is a challenge. You can clearly hear guests talking loudly and the music in the restaurant was playing till 11.20pm making it difficult to sleep. Staff were unfriendly and not particularly helpful. We should of stayed at the Movenpick for an extra £20 per night but decided to stay here as it was in the Medina - big mistake!

Dar Antonia is located in the Sousse Medina ; a wonderful Tunisian palace, converted into a boutique hotel. It only has a few rooms, hence not a lot of staff and it may be difficult to find someone at times. The place oozes charm, but comes with some practical disadvantages : lots of stairs to get anywhere, open bathroom, open toilet, noise from other rooms, etc It has a very upmarket (= expensive) restaurant, where a sensational fresh breakfast is served. A great rooftop space with a "pool", but it is the size of a spa ; a superb place to have a drink, but it proved to be hard to order any, as they have to come from the restaurant, two floors down (by stairs). Overall, Dar Antonia is your best choice if you like authentic charm and are prepared to put up with the impracticalities that are inherent to an old building.

This is an old, small and quaint -- most charming hotel with few rooms. The restaurant is Michelin rated! And it is great. They have their own family wine and it was the best we had in Tunisia. The service, the beauty, charm and everything was great. In the Sousse medina. It may be best for young, middle age and fit seniors -- because it is small and has stairs. Very European with lovely North African features -- tiles. Highly, highly recommended. What a treat!

I had a choice to stay in a big resort on the beach but chose to stay here and happy I made that choice. Rooms, food, and location were great but what really made this place special were the helpful, friendly, and wonderful staff. Thank you for a fantastic stay :) Aichik Fadi

All design and that's it. The hotel is highly styled right out of a magazine. The food is phenomenal. Michelin level. However, the person who styled the hotel should sleep in it. It is all design and ill conceived. Our first room the Honeymoon suite has a handheld shower with no place to hang the wand to take a shower. It is 2023 and we needed a shower after walking in the sun. Another couple in a different room wanted to switch with us since their friends were in a room with a toilet and no door. The three rooms all swapped. However, no one told us that the the internet didn't work in our room despite the listing clearly saying the internet works in the room. Further, our a/c didn't work and no one cared. The owner wasn't on premises and seems to think a person can run a hotel over the phone. You can't. We had no water bottles in our room to take our medicine and brush our teeth. The staff had no idea where the water bottles were. We also had insufficient towels. No one knew where they had extra towels. Whichever room wakes up first wakes all the rooms since the rooms are not sound proof contrary to the statement online. So, the hotel looks fabulous but that's where it ends. Go for dinner since the food is fantastic but do not recommend staying there.
