Travelodge Southport

Very clean and central to all amenities, no one on recepyuntil 3 pm so I had to carry my suitcase around with me for 2 hours , that’s my only complaint as I thought would be able to drop my case off. Would definitely stay again , it’s very near friends I was visiting for the 2 days .

Clean rooms , good location, only problem is the mobile phone signal is not very good unless you stay on the fifth floor.

Firstly we got a fantastic bargain - £88 for 3 nights. Our room was a decent size and on the 5th floor so away from most of the street noise. The bed was very comfortable and everything was clean. The shower was powerful and hot and there was a window which opened slightly. The windows were huge so let plenty of natural light in. Other than the hanging space/open wardrobe, there was nowhere else for clothes - no drawers, not even bedside. The hotel is in a very good location, just off Lord Street, the main thoroughfare, and a minute from both Morrisons supermarket and a Wetherspoons. There are nice bars snd restaurants just a few minutes further as well. Although we didnt have much interaction with the staff, a special mention to Luke and Suzanne, the latter of whom attended to a stuck sink plug immediately. I would give staff 5/5, location also 5/5 and room 4.5/5 simple because of a lack of drawers/storage space.

We have stayed here many times. Staff are always, brilliant and the most helpful you could find. Housekeeping are excellent and the rooms and towels etc are perfect. This time we had room 304 - over the main Lord Street but we did not hear a sound! Great nights sleep for 5 nights.

I opted for the Travelodge when the Waterfront, at the other side of town, was asking me for over 200 pounds a night. I was there for a special event and the 'special price' was 'no longer valid' I paid a seventh of the Waterfront price and had a welcoming, clean, comfortable hotel. The staff were helpful. Why would anyone opt for the Waterfront?

On arrival great receptionist and asked if we wanted a low or high level room. After reading some reviews about noise we chose a high level room. our room 614 was basic but looked clean and we were only there a night to visit friends. There was no where to unload the bags so parked in the loading bay outside the hotel. The entrance was difficult to find and a few homeless people sitting in the bench drinking beers! Was told there was a car park which was £9 for 24hrs which was just behind the hotel. When we went to move car from loading bay was noticed a traffic ward so be wary of parking there. The car park is a number plate recognition but can come and go as many times if you have paid for the 24hrs. The car park felt unsafe and there was a car with smashed window and the car park was full of rubbish. Now I know this is a basic hotel and you get what you pay for. But no soap or shower gel in our bathroom. So we had to go and ask the reception and they brought up a tiny bit of soap in a cup !! No plug sockets by beds so couldn’t plug phones in??!! Coffee cups and spoons dirty and the duvet on our son’s bed was disgusting! On the plus side the beds were comfy and didn’t hear any noise from outside. We wouldn’t stay here again as it felt unsafe and when we walked back to the hotel at night lots of homeless people hanging about and just messy with beer cans and rubbish just left outside.
