Holiday Inn Express & Suites Springfield

Our 2nd x @ this hotel, located directly off hwy 55. Great location for an over night stay. The price is the cheapest that we find in this isle of hotels. Beds are really very comfortable with four fluffy pillows. The restroom is large, not small as some are. Our room had a safe for valuables, all rooms should have safes. Breakfast is pretty good, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy- and more. Restaurants, McDonald's & Arbys are within walking distance. Store fronts across the street. The room is clean and tidy, I slept soundly in this comfy bed. Front staff - Anthony was pleasant. Room decor is a bit dated, but we were here to sleep, we'll be back more than likely .

Great customer service but the hotel is a bit old…..needs a new look to keep up with the other hotels in the area. Front desk personnel was so helpful and at the breakfast area are so nice, really! They compensated the old look of the hotel. I really love the crispy bacon and bagel with cream cheese….

Great Location. just a few restaurants to choose from...you won't starve but you won't be overwhelmed by variety. The bed was fairly uncomfortable. Very firm. The staff was very friendly and helpful even though we really didn't need much. There was no satellite. if we ever come back probably will stay in the Crowne Plaza (want to have a more comfortable mattress when I'm on vacation). Overall a 3/5

Once a year, I make a road trip to Arkansas from the Chicago area and back, and usually overnight at the Springfield Crowne Plaza on the way back. The HI Express and Suites is right next door to the CP, was priced considerably lower, so I though it would give it a try. You get what you pay for. Gym and Pool? Yep, but you have to run the gauntlet and get a pass at the Crowne Plaza next door. Ripped wallpaper and torn and frayed carpeting in the hallways-the Express &Suites definitely needs a makeover. Bed was clean; floor and surrounds in bathroom needed a thorough cleaning-it was filthy. Apparently the hardworking maintenance staff missed the many months expired elevator inspection certificates posted in the elevators themselves-not a good sign. The complimentary breakfast was better than most. Probably won't try it again.

Clean. Updated, Quiet. Came in late with my daughter and felt safe walking in from the parking lot. Offers a breakfast with eggs & meat plus yogurt and a broad range of “continental breakfast” items. Front desk very helpful. Lightswitches by the door and in bathroom are light to find easily.

We stayed here the night before the eclipse-4/7/24. We came from Rockford, and due to the price gouging going on, Springfield was the closest we could get to Carbondale without paying ridiculous prices.The man at the front desk (I think his name was Anthony) remembered us from 6 years ago when we stayed one night! Double queens were booked, so we got a king with sofa bed, which was fine, I knew they were probably booked solid. I asked for bedding for the sofa bed, and got it within minutes. Anthony and the rest of the staff really know how to treat people. We were treated like they wanted us there, and everyone had a smile. The hotel is very clean, and I couldn't believe how comfortable my bed was. I slept soundly through the night and I never do that at hotels. Never! I'm usually up every half hour, flipping from side to side, in pain. This is definitely where we will stay when we drive down again.

For the city of Carbondale, this is a great location and property. The room was good and clean, along with the breakfast that comes with your room. The location is smack darn center of Carbondale, across from the Paul Simon, Federal building.

The dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. From the carpet not being vacuumed, deep stains all over the carpet. To the air freshener in the air vent due to the smell and them trying to cover it up. The elevator with years of grime built up. The shower surround did appear to be new, the shower cutting liner was on backwards. LOL Our co-worker had no shower curtain at all in their barroom. The bed sheets were clean though, had that no been the case I would of slept in my car! Then they charged my CC instead of the Corporate CC on file that was prearranged with the hotel.

I was so disappointed with this hotel. We were there 6 nights and our room was never cleaned. I took photos of the trash under the bathroom vanity that was there when we arrived. Had to go to the desk each night for clean towels or call to have them brought up. Each day I asked about our room being cleaned and each day empty promises. People got to the point that they piled their dirty towels and bags or garbage out in the hall!
