Crazy Bear Stadhampton

I was worried having read other reviews but our experience has been fabulous! Room 12 is amazing-I paid for decadent and it was gorgeous and very warm. Ate in Thai restaurant and food was delicious and plentiful. Service was exceptionally quick and friendly. I am delighted.

We arrived on a Friday night and found the public area to be more rustic than the crazy bear at Beaconsfield which we had really loved a few years earlier, so we weren’t sure. However the meal in the Thai restaurant was absolutely fabulous, although the seating is not very comfortable . It was my significant birthday and this was acknowledged delightfully by the staff, so by Saturday we were really settling in. We were also joined by members of my family and they loved their rooms and again we had the Thai menu but in the English restaurant which is far more comfortable. I think the staff are absolutely the best, from Sophie in the admin bus to Tanya in the restaurant. Who worked so hard and was absolutely professional and thoughtful. To be fair all the staff were just top class, they appear to really love their jobs, and go out of their way to make their guests comfortable. So full marks from us.

I paid £400 for one nights stay The bathroom was freezing with no heating, the sink was blocked up a bit and a cooked breakfast costs extra. Overpriced and definitely not luxurious. The staff were very friendly and helpful but it's not worth the money.

This was a 7 course tasting menu which was overpriced and disappointing for a number of reasons. Had to ask for the wine and for plates to eat first course breads. Asked to both choose the same menu to make it easier (classic or vegetarian). Given 6 courses not 7 as sorbet served on same plate as sweet treats. Sweet treats that were cakes left from afternoon tea. Rushed through the courses. Payment system failed and ended paying twice and now have to wait 5 days for money to be repaid. No option to change the 13.5% service which we did pay as the staff were pleasant but due to errors not worth 13.5%. Always wanted to go, glad I have and venue worth seeing. This was a birthday treat and sadly overall very disappointing for the price. Will not be returning. We have been to a number of tasting menu venues over the years for special occasions and this was the worst overall experience we have had.

This hotel has a lot of nice things about it, the staff were mostly great, the food was good and the decor in the shared areas good. The room was very tired though, in need of maintenance and on the whole not worth the cost by any stretch of the imagination. I have stayed in far nicer rooms for less, but with a bit of effort this place could be great again.

On our exit we did leave feedback, the lady informed me management would be in contact. Our stay wasn’t what I expected for a 5 star hotel, or for a crazy bear hotel. This has been a place I have wanted to visit for many years. We arrived and was greeted by a lovely friendly lady, we then got into our room which was a fair walk away from the hotel itself. Initially it appeared to be nice, then I walked through a cobweb and the amount of dust was just unacceptable for a £180 room. I then went. Back to the bus to ask to change rooms and no was available. We then decided not to eat at the hotel, and ventured out. When we got back we had a drink in the bar, which was filled wi the young teenagers with trainers and jackets. Blocking the walkway to the bar, I asked the young boy to kindly move his chair so I could get past him. His response was rude and the bar man laughed so overall it was. Not a great experience. It states prior to booking in no trainers are allowed, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The worse thing is we traveled. From Cornwall to stay in this hotel.

My children had booked for a birthday treat, so we came on our wedding anniversary as a double celebration. On arrival, we walked up the stone track to the Wild Pig small delicatessen, as we were slightly early for our meal. On arrival, everything that used to shine is very tired and needs a good clean. The Thai experience had been booked, we went to the London bus reception, a gentleman walked from walkway with two gentleman and a lady, straight in front of us, he came back out of the bus, asked if we had been before, which we have on several occasions, we told him we were here for the Thai meal. He then walked off, and we walked down to what we thought was the Thai area. The gentleman a few minutes later came past again and we could wait by the Thai area, ten minutes we are still waiting when a bar member walks past we ask about Thai restaurant to be told its been flooded, he takes us into the bar, we climb a few stairs and sit in what could have been a beautiful area, but needed a deep clean. A lovely waitress comes sits us on a wobbly table, which I ask for her to place something under to stop the wobble, she brings to glasses champagne, there should have been a choice, but not offered. Then the menu classic or vegetarian, we choose classic then confused as no Thai food. Out come 4 warm rolls, pleasant, the manager comes and asks if everything is okay, we say we are confused as the children had booked us Thai and this is signature, then a lady whom I think he said was his wife tries to argue about our booking, but I had shown him what the children had booked, so now able to try the Thai menu, we chose classic. The starters came quickly, seaweed had no crunch and tasted stale, Thai crackers and chilli sauce pleasant, steamed edamame chewey, salt and pepper baby squid, over cooked and chewey, the main dish different pork's and duck there was one tiny piece of duck, the pork was dry, which we ate two cubes, the prawn with noodles looked like they had come from a ready meal. Dessert should have been lemon meringue tart, but was mochi, no apology for the change in dessert. We didn't see the manager again, our waitress was lovely, but the whole place needs a through deep clean, I don't expect to look at the chandelier above the table and see thick dust! Such a shame as this was one of our favourite places to go.

I have had the worst experience ever! I have booked this hotel for 29th September for my partner's birthday treat. I had decadence room booked, which is nearly double the price of cosy room and on arrival we have been told that only cosy room is available for us (no bath in the room!) Eventually we had to leave, as I would not pay the maximum price for the room and getting the cheapest one instead. This has messed up our day so much leaving us with massive disappointment and wasted a few hours for travel for nothing... On arrival I have asked to blow some balloons and decorate the room for my partner, which ended up with leaving them behind as we had to leave the room. How can you book a decadence room and been told on arrival that they are fully booked! Such a joke. Never again. Arranging childcare for our daughter at the same time wasn't easy. so much money wasted for travel, childcare and preparations... (cake, balloons etc) :(((((((

Lovely room every thing clean tidy and staff are brilliant food was lovely nice break away definitely be back and thanks again to the lovely manager Thiago can’t do enough for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
