Augill Castle

The castle was the fairytale setting for our daughter's wedding. Wendy and her wonderful team ensured the day was perfect from start to finish. The food was exceptional; rooms were quirky and comfortable; the setting was magical and the team were friendly and eager to help in any way. We could not recommend them highly enough. A very warm welcome to this beautiful castle / country home. Very relaxing & quiet. The bedroom beautiful & the bed so comfortable. A very peaceful night sleep. The afternoon tea in the lounge was gorgeous. Breakfast was great with a nice selection on offer to set you up for the day. The owner’s award winning book is an entertaining read as it goes through the history of the castle and how the family established the business. Would recommend a visit here.

Went for a lovely Afternoon tea and decided to stay. From going up the drive to going through the door, the welcome was perfect and welcoming. We enquired after quick look around and perfect service, we let them book the room, didn’t even ask the price as we felt we could trust them and we weren’t let down. We stayed in the Appleby room with an open fire all we can say perfect very good nights sleep and a lovely breakfast before we went.

With family and friends I celebrated my birthday in a perfectly wonderful setting. The accommodation impressed all my guests from four poster beds to a chest full of dvds and secret little rooms hidden in turrets. The excellent service and delicious menu choices made the evening perfect.

Wow, this place is super cool!! Legit Castle and rooms are very nice and charming. Wendy and Johanna were amazing hosts and the dinner we had in the Castle that evening was fantastic. Our group played cards after dinner that evening and Johanna brought us drinks, snacks and even built us a fire to make sure we were cozy. They even did my laundry for me during our stay. Perfect place to stay if you’re looking for an authentic castle experience for a reasonable price and excellent service.

We visited Augill Castle for three nights with our three kids in July and had a brilliant, relaxing time. We chose Augill Castle as we were looking for somewhere child friendly en route to the Lake District to extend our time away. Augill was exactly what we hoped it would be and more. A beautiful castle, with fab owners, combining a relaxing break away with good food, drink and an informal but luxurious setting. Our kids loved the tennis court and play area and enjoyed playing football in the grounds. All the staff at the castle were friendly with both of us and our kids and we were made to feel really welcome. If you’re after a relaxing break away from the craziness of every day life (even with small children), combined with staying at a beautiful castle, then I throughly recommend Augill Castle.
