"My first time staying in a hostel. A very good experience. The staff were amazing. Especially when checking out. My train was a night train and so I didn't want to take my luggage around with me, they allowed me to keep my luggage in the lockers which were provided until it was time for me to leave. Very friendly and welcoming.
My room wasn't the fanciest but it was all I needed. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Great for a single traveller who didn't want to share with strangers, very accommodating.
Minor complaint about the lift being out of order on my last day. Especially being on level 4 with a heart condition, the stairs were a killer 😬. It couldn't have been helped. But the staff were onto it 🙂.
Thank you YHA for a great first experience. I would recommend this place to my friends."

"The staff at help desk and helpful, gave clear info.
Checked in at 6pm no issue, great having the help desk be open 24/7.
The entry/cafe/front desk area had a small smell of cigarettes.
Bed was comfortable and clean, only carpet was a bit dirty and the room smelled on mixed scents, primarily body odour, mixed shared room so not hostels issue just individuals different smells, ventilation was ok but would not recommend a windowless room with the scents issue.
Guests seemed of a young adult demographic: Lots of young, foreign, Door Dash/Uber Eats workers.
Bathroom/toilet amenities were sufficient but shower stream was changing from warm to cold water, which would be terrible if it was in the winter, but only slightly uncomfortable in the warmer month of December.
Good option for securing luggage you don’t want to keep in the shared rooms."

"Great for stopover or budget conscious traveller as location is great, near railway station, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Well managed but apparently little to no interaction from staff. Believe it would be great if staff is more proactive in nurturing relationships with guests so as to give it more life and meaning. Just a suggestion but overall, value for money."

Stora centrala plats, stort rum, snällt anställda, rent rum och område, även om det finns ett gemensamt badrum.Snälla, eftersom det är vintern i Melbourne, lägga till en värme inuti rummet, för det var frysande. Att ha en fan som bara ger frisk luft under vintersäsongen gör ingen mening.Tack!Bra erfarenhet!Inte rekommenderat om du har en bil.Jag fick betala 15$ extra för parkeringen.

The manager was very nice, the hotel rooms are located at 2/F but he is willing to help with the luggage carry even without request.
The hotel location is fantastic, only 20-30 mins to Melbourne central (one tram only after you get the skybus from airport as well).
supermarket, restaurant, cafe, gelato shop around as well.
Clean, big room, nice toilet&restroom, nice kitchen, nice laundry.
Highly recommend that hotel, definitely my priority choice if I come to Melbourne again.
The only bad side is the room at 2/F that you have to carry your stuff up and down if you buy lots of things. And watch out especially in rainy day as it’s a metal stair.

Perfect location multiple way to traval between city. There are several things that we want to contribute for make perfection. The different level of floor between kitchen and living room may hurt your feet if not careful enough. May recomemd to change kitchenware such as pan and add the toaster, rice cooker would be nice.

It’s a nice little place that did what it needed to do to keep a roof over my head. Slightly annoying that you have to use the bathroom/shower in seperate areas within the hotel but that was already known once paying for a room in advance.

The Elgin Carlton Studios was small but perfect for a single or a couple for a few nights. Well located near to many restaurants with an enjoyable walk through parks to zoo precinct and easy tram return. Hot water wasn’t available but I’m sure the helpful team at the studios jumped onto that.

We were upgraded to the hotel on arrival. What a lovely hotel, has all the amenities and is a reasonable price with secured parking (an extra $20). Staff were all lovely also and the room had a lot of space. The bathroom was a bit small but it did the job and the shower was great.

First time living in a hostel and already have some expectations of what is it going to be like
Since feedback is that the shower heater does not work well where it gets cold and switches to hot suddenly causing my body to get burnt
I was told that I can arrive early and store my luggage first but I didn’t expect that what they mean by storing is leaving my bag on the open vide floor in the corner of the pub (definitely know that it won’t be kept safe since the employees themselves are busy running the pub)
The room is very smelly
Like smellier than what I expected

I was surprised this property was rated as high as it was. It was fine, if a little basic. The room was very noisy from both inside and outside the property. Close to public transport but you need it to get anywhere as it is quite far from the main sites.
