"A beautiful guesthouse, the rooms are beautiful too. Bed is big and comfy, very clean and the bathroom is modern despite how traditional the building is. Also has great heating if desired. The family that runs the guesthouse is so so sweet. Their food is also delicious and a great option for a quick breakfast (the buns are to die for). Excellent location. All in all would definitely come back and recommend this place."

The Pingyao Yunshu Inn provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The Pingyao Yunshu Inn is an ideal choice for travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Pingyao County. Traveling to the hotel is easy with Pingyao Railway Station located approximately 3km away and Taiyuan Yaocheng Airport roughly 49km away. Keeping busy is easy, with Furniture Museum of the Shaanxi Rich, City Tower and Xida Street all nearby. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling alone.
"If you want a more authentic experience than staying in a fancy hotel, this is your place. Mrs Liu (sp?) was so lovely and helpful. She speaks a bit of English and is very fast on the translation apps for what she doesn’t know. She gave us a map of the Ancient City and explained where we should visit. Every day she gave us water bottles. We stayed 2 nights.
You can experience a kang bed here, in a cozy room in a quaint courtyard. It was quite firm but still comfortable. There is air con which was needed when we were there. The bathroom is small but we found that everything didn’t get wet, despite the small size of the room.
The inn is on the “taxi-bus” route just off South Street. As it is a block from the Main Street it is significantly quieter as the honking of “taxi-buses” doesn’t happen as much in the alleyways. Just be careful to walk on the sides of the road as the mopeds and taxi-buses are electric so quiet, except for the honking which is loud and constant, and they drive quite fast for the size and busyness of the streets.
There is plenty of food places just a short walk away from the hotel. The ancient city was a lot more touristy than we had expected.
You need to prearrange with the innkeeper to organise a “taxi-bus” to pick you up from the South Gate. Regular cars are not allowed inside the city wall. We were dropped by the DiDi but it is too far and busy to walk with luggage to the inn. Mrs Liu and her husband helped us out with their mopeds.
Not many “taxi-bus” drivers know the inn as it is a smaller private hotel, so make sure you have the address printed out to show them. The taxi-bus is 10RMB pp per ride and you can flag them down anywhere on the streets they are allowed on, but they may not want to go where you want to go, so just flag another one until you get one that agrees. You scan the drivers QR code to pay.

The inn is located in the ancient city of Pingyao, a world cultural heritage. It has a traditional quadrangle courtyard pattern. The inn is adjacent to Majia Courtyard, North Street, Mingqing Street and other scenic spots. It is very convenient for shopping, shopping and sightseeing. The rooms are clean and hygienic, with a separate bathroom, 24-hour hot water bath, and wireless Internet access. The inn is guest-oriented and people-oriented. With reasonable price, high-quality service and beautiful environment, every tourist can live comfortably and have fun!
"Fantastic value for money. I really liked the room. Shower and bathroom were great. Bed was comfy. The hotel is in a quiet street a little bit outside of the main streets which for me was a big plus. It's not too far away and way quieter. The owner/husband picked me up and dropped me off at the north gate. They have a fridge where you can pay for drinks per qr code.
2 water bottles a day for free in the room.
The wife gave me a map with explanations and an itinerary idea. Super nice!
Improvement ideas:
- Water refill from a big jug to safe on plastic
- English explanation on how to book the Pingyao 3 day ticket on WeChat (I figured it out myself but a small guide would be cool)
- some way to close blinds so people can't look in without having to shut off all daylight.
Would recommend the place and would book again without looking for anything else."

"來平遙古城一定要住這家客棧！老闆兩口子人太好了。過年期間平遙人滿為患，不僅親自接送站，還為外地的我們提供了很多幫助，減少了很多旅途中可能出現的問題和麻煩。最主要的，還是院子裝修精美，屋裡佈置的很有氛圍，特別適合想感受古城文化的人來入住。出來玩遇到很多人，尤其是景區，很多人都是“一鎚子買賣”，但這家真的不是，我一直覺得，錢就應該讓有良心的、住宿質量過硬的人掙，再次點贊！絕對讓你來了感受到平遙的温度！"

Guests will find South Gate Tower, “Seeing Pingyao” and Yingxun Gate just a short distance from the hotel. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. Guests tell us the location of this hotel is fantastic.
"The owner was kind enough to pick me up from the parking lot as no cars are allowed into the Ancient town. The bathroom could really use an upgrade. The toilet seat was cracked and the shower has little water pressure. The hot water was turned off. I had to call the owner to turn on the hot water. It took awhile before the hot water came out. I couldn't enjoy a good shower."

Staying at Yushe Guest House was hands down the best decision of our Pingyao trip! We felt so lucky to have found this gem.
The location is unbeatable—super close to the South and East Gates, 文庙, and 城隍庙. It’s only a few minutes' walk to South Avenue! On top of that, the place has brand new facilities, and most importantly the owner is incredibly warm and welcoming. ❤️
He shared so much about Shanxi’s vinegar culture with us and gave us excellent local tips on how to plan our sightseeing. He even arranged rides for us to see the Pingyao show and the free light show. It honestly felt like a home away from home (he even checked in on us when we stayed out late exploring😭🫶🏻)
Though our stay in Pingyao was brief, it was such a highlight of our trip, largely thanks to staying here. Highly, highly recommend! 🌟"

CCecile1986The hotel is really nice and in the authentic style of Pingyao. It is quite closed from the east gate and from the ancient city center.
The owner is really friendly, speaks good English and is doing everything to make you enjoy your stay. He did explained very well all the activity and provide help if needed.
The room is clean and we didn't care about the size as we were out all day. If I have to suggest one thing, it will be to have bigger mattresses as they are quite hard but it's a personal preference.

EEcoopThis has been our favourite stay in china by far! The owner is so generous and patient despite our lack of Chinese language skills, he even brought us gifts and picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. The residence is also part of the Pingyao world heritage site, we really enjoyed seeing the similarities between fans residence and the buildings presented in the museums around Pingyao (this place has much comfier beds). The traditional Chinese breakfast was also amazing, with veges, steam buns and egg. It’s in a perfect location, out of the noise of the main streets but also an easy stroll to the lively parts of town. I will recommend Fanzhai to anyone that will listen 😁

The room is perfect, with an ancient feeling but all the modern facilities. It is clean and very quiet at night.

GGästanvändareWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved
The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk.
The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

GGästanvändare這次平遙之行，非常榮幸選擇了榮耀民宿，雖然在古城外，但出行超方便，步行5-6分鐘就到古城入口，還免去了古城內交通管制的麻煩。房間乾淨又温馨，床品軟乎乎的，晚上一沾枕頭就睡着。民宿老闆是一名二十年的退役老兵，服務超熱情，不僅幫忙規劃路線，還推薦了很多本地人常去的小店，價格非常優惠才幾十塊錢，真的是物超所值。特別推薦大家可以入住體驗

GGästanvändareThe hotel is located in Pingyao's Old City, very close to the Ancient Government tourist landmark. I found the level of service outstanding. Even though there was a language barrier they were always eager to help. I liked the courtyard and in the room I felt like I was sleeping in one of the museums I visited in Pingyao. Additional perks include free laundry and free transport to the train station. As a drawback, the wifi connection didn't work well for me. To sum up excellent value for money.

GGästanvändareThe host were nice and friendly. They speak no English but they use and app for basic translations. The room is good value for money. Modern and clean, with good architectural finishes. They don't provide towels, shampoo and so. No air conditioner either, thou I asked for a fan and they gave it to me and it was perfect like that. Location wasn't so easy to find, the access road can be either dusty or muddy depending on the weather.
It's about 15 minutes walk to the north gate of ancient Pingyao city wall. I would recommend specially to couples as it's the same price as for solo travellers. (I guess the price is per room) They didn't ask for a deposit as written in their policies, which is a plus. I attach a plan explaining how to best get there. Recommended.
