My initial thought on this accommodation business is in some ways positive. If it is viewed purely as a 'hostel' with an associated coffee shop, then it definitely has attributes (and I'll come back to those later). But if taken at face value on the basis of its tariff cost and amenities, both real and indicated, then there are several problems with it. The first is the way the premises is represented on the Trip com platform. Photographs of the double bedroom include one of a bathroom. The attached text description and its context makes the plain implication that the room has an ensuite bathroom, which it does not. If little scrutiny is applied when reading the description, this fact will escape the readers attention. Anyone looking to make a reservation quickly can easily be misled (inadvertently?) into believing that this is a 'hotel' style room. Many hostels do offer rooms with ensuite bathrooms after all. The bathroom is communal and is inconveniently located on the ground floor. Rooms are above this. A second related criticism is the room size description - 18 m sq is quoted. The room has dimensions of 3 x 3.5 m. That is, about 10 m sq ! Although late February is still peak season in Phuket, it has to be said that the room tariff of almost $60 AUD per night is exorbitant. It may be considered acceptable for a 18 m sq hotel style room, given the circumstances, but a room of this kind at this particular locality ought to be offered at a lower price. Having said this, I concede that the reservation was made late and in haste. Now onto the good things. The 10 m sq double bed room has old but high quality wooden furniture which serves its purpose well. The air conditioning is responsive and strong There is a large kitchen next to the bathroom/wash basin (trough). It's equipped with a large fridge, sink, cutlery etc as well as a coffee maker ( + ground coffee). A delicious banana cake was offered to guests. Clothes can be washed and dried via a coin operated machine. Other attributes include the woman owner/ manager who has a professional approach and an attitude very well suited to the hospitalality jndustry. The coffee shop also makes decent coffees and ham n cheese croissants.

********* the Burmese woman made the stay unpleasant and uncomfortable for myself and multiple other guests. @Owner, consider replacing this employee with a Thai person who has customer service skills. Promote someone in the group that comes in to cook breakfast and clean. Cleaning should be prioritized to a higher degree - the floors and bathrooms are cleaned once per day. There is black mold growing from standing water in the second floor bathroom. This place has potential to be great, but lack of management has it going downhill quick.

Even if it ended with a nice gesture, the receptionist handing me a keychain gift (not sure if they do that with all guests), with a written request to leave 10/10 review, sadly I couldn't ignore the shortcomings of this hostel that seemed like just a downgraded version of Marco Polo Poshtel (not sure which one came first, but from breakfast to ”funny” wall messages, there was a similar ”creative” signature). While I was initially attracted by reviews mentioning hostel's cleanliness, I couldn't say I shared the same opinion. Certain public areas were quite messy. The staircase to the first floor (where shoes are forbidden) didnt seem to be cleaned for some time. In the showers (which had a good water pressure), there was mold. None of the three handsoap dispensers in the only bathroom had soap in them. It just felt the staff doesnt have time or organizational skills to maintain everything in working order. But I was mostly surprised by finding a not clean (i dont want to call it ”used”) bed cover in my bed. It had some fresh stains, hair and crumbles (well, not just on bed cover), and seemed just to be folded after the guest before me (even the folding seemed messed up, so i really thought maybe the bed was forgotten). When I asked the housekeeping to change it, they initially approved. The younger housekeeper started changing everything, sheet included (which i believe is a good way to do it, when it is not certain if the bed was completely changed), but when the older one returned, she made her put the sheet back (the sheet that was thrown on the floor in the meantime), laughing all along. No, that wasnt really funny. Then instead of letting the young housekeeper put on the new bed cover she brought along, i noticed that the older one brought something that seemed to be the same old bed cover that i complained about (the duvet was already inside). When i asked if that is a new thing, she was convincing me it was. Already at that moment, i felt ridiculed. But i said, ”okay, if you say so.” After all was done, i came back to my bed, unfolded the bed cover and confirmed my doubt - all this performance of changing the bed, without them changing anything! The only difference was that the bedsheet was also on the floor in the meantime. This got me really frustrated, mostly because they lied to my face (what for?), and mostly because they invested energy in ”changing” everything while actually just stripping everything off and returning it (why? It takes the same amount of energy to do it for real). Feeling like an *****, i asked what seemed to be the problem? Dont they have clean bedding, or what? But they had. I asked them to give it to me then, and i would happily prepare the bed myself. Which they accepted. Lol. I dont know, with that poor breakfast, the visual mess, unpleasant ”toilet” scent at hostel entrance, and generally low level of cleanliness (you can see how yellow the pillow is once you remove the pillow case yourself), it felt that other reviews mentioning spotless hygiene were misleading. Or were my standards too high? In any case, i stayed in a dozen of Phuket hostels during my month here, but none of them tried to insult my intelligence. There are better places, and no, Dorm Hostel sadly doesnt deserve 10/10, to quote the request they tell everyone at check-out. I also tried to leave them space for hostel improvement, so instead of lowest marks, i left average ones, even if the experience was truly below average. P.S. When a guest asks whether a ferry with a pick-up operates everywhere in Phuket, a genuinely helpful answer would be ”yes”. And not ”no, it's only our hostel's pickup”. I understand everyone just tries to earn money, but it shouldn't be done by misleading guests who just trustfully ask for information.

The room is clean and house cleaning everyday. Location is super good , near to old town street and alot restaurants nearby. Water pressure very low. One of the block doesn’t have elevator, have to carry ur luggage up and down.

They have a bad habit of turning off their water. I was just now having a shower, shaving my head, and the water in the shower stopped. I had to walk downstairs to the reception with nothing but a towel and soapy head to ask them to turn on the water. they did so. however... When I exited the shower to brush my teeth, the water had stopped again! I waited at the reception but it seems they were hiding from me. I called The hotel number and they came downstairs. I questioned why they keep turning the water off. they just apologized and turned it back on. I don't shower profusely long. why does this hotel have a problem turning on their water? I think I know the answer... Because they have a leaky tap! I think that instead of repairing the tap, they'd rather just turn off the water...

Läget är mycket bra eftersom det är gångavstånd till Phukets gamla stadsdel. Om du är ett Harry Potter-fan bör du definitivt besöka HP-temakaféet (4-5 minuters gångavstånd). Det finns också så många söta kaféer där. Rummet är rent och bekvämt för en ensamresenär som jag. Om du behöver en hårtork måste du be om det i receptionen. Personalen där är riktigt trevlig och vänlig. Det fanns ingen hiss och jag hade ett riktigt stort bagage, så den manliga personalen hjälpte mig att bära mitt bagage till mitt rum. Observera också att receptionen endast är öppen från 08:00 till 23:00. Så om du checkar ut riktigt tidigt måste du informera receptionisten vid ankomsten. Rekommenderas starkt för en ensamresenär som letar efter en budget. Strategiskt läge 💯

Personalen ser lite blyg och tyst ut. Bokade ett familjerum med 3 bäddar och fick rum 6 på andra våningen bredvid trappan. Direkt stranden och restaurangen ligger på baksidan av resorten. På natten har de och orterna i närheten middagsbord så att stranden är upplyst och livlig. Tidigt på morgonen sätter de sig inte upp än så det är väldigt bra att gå, springa och träna där. De håller på att renovera. Rum 6 hade mycket stark målarlukt. Vattenkranar är användbara så de ändras inte ännu. Slangspray för toalett sitter till höger och du kommer att vrida kroppen för att hänga den till vänster. Soffbord, klädskåp och värdeskåp finns inne i badrummet med väggar att separera. Avloppshålet är nära väggen på toaletten så när vi duschar är toalettrummet också blött. Väggmonterad duschtvål och schampo. Ta med ditt tandborstset eftersom de flesta platser i Thailand inte ger. Vatten rinner långsamt men inte igensatt. Andra rum på bottenvåningen renoveras också. Det är en liten resort i form av ett radhus och de har en liten gränd att gå till stranden. Bredvid det körfältet finns 3 eller 4 gästrum på bottenvåningen. Om du behöver det bästa rummet, är det på andra våningen i slutet och du har 2 stora sängar, ett separat stort rum med mikrovågsugn, bord med 4 stolar på balkongen med utsikt över stranden. Andra gäster kan också gå till denna balkong. Utsikten är havet och taket på restaurangen vid stranden. Rum 6 har ett bord och 2 stolar utanför rummet så när du röker och äter, förvänta dig att se andra gäster gå pass. Tops närbutik ligger på andra sidan gatan. Många butiker, restauranger och matstånd på denna gata. Anläggningen ligger i slutet av denna lilla strandstad och bredvid nationalparken. När vi gick cirka 30 minuter mot parkens riktning såg vi en liten korallholme och vi korsade korallen under vattnet från huvudstranden till den holmen. Bär aqua skor eftersom det är omöjligt att gå med bara fötter. Vattennivån är runt midjan. Huvudstranden har en remsa av sand som rinner mot den lilla holmen och den andra sidan har hög sand. Mycket vacker solnedgång. Om du vill göra det, gå före 16.00 för när det är mörkt (efter 18.00, mitten av oktober) finns det nästan inget ljus i den zonen och vattnet börjar stiga högre vilket betyder att det är svårare att gå tillbaka från den lilla holmen. Vandringen är kort med starka vågor. Vattnet är varmt.

Eftersom jag förlängde min vistelse på detta hotell vill jag lägga till några kommentarer till min tidigare recension, som du hittar här på Trip.com. Min första recension ger ett mer detaljerat intryck av rummet och hotellet i allmänhet. Under den förlängda vistelsen pågick renoveringsarbete i rummet bredvid mitt. Dörren lämnades ofta öppen, området såg ganska smutsigt ut och det var märkbart oväsen från arbetarna som pratade och arbetade, vilket gjorde vistelsen mindre bekväm. Jag nämnde också i receptionen att min födelsedag skulle äga rum under min vistelse. Även om jag inte förväntade mig något speciellt, skulle även en liten symbolisk gest ha uppskattats. Tyvärr fanns det ingen bekräftelse, vilket kändes som bristande uppmärksamhet för återkommande gäster.

Personalen kommer från hela världen, och man har en god känsla av kontroll. Det är väldigt nära stranden, ett bra val under lågsäsong. Det är extremt bullrigt på natten; förvänta dig inte att sova före midnatt. Butiksfasaden är väldigt liten och inte lätt att hitta.

Utmärkt vandrarhem, mycket nära Gamla Stan, bra rum, belysningsuttag för varje säng, handdukar tillhandahålls, det finns ett stort utrymme för sammankomster på bottenvåningen med bord och soffor, om du behöver arbeta är det superbekvämt där, och på andra våningen finns ett litet gemensamt område. Alla gillade det
