"We stayed here for one night, because we were attending a concert in Cologne. The hotel was close to the venue, so for us, the location was perfect. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed/pillows and a nice shower. The staff member who checked us in was a little distracted and didn't give us all the information before wandering away... But his colleague helped us, and the check-out was very easy. If you are looking for a hotel in this part of Cologne, this would be a good choice"

"The hotel itself is new and nice. However, i didn't like 4 things:
- the location is far away from the city centre.
- the parking is very expensive!
- the pillows were too high and uncomfortable for me.

"The hotel was nice if you're visiting Köln. But i guess we just had experienced a scary situation where someone was trying to Unlock the door at around 9pm when we're about to sleep. We got scared. Then when we heard that, i asked who's trying to open the door and it was a Family with 2 kids, so the receptionist gave us the wrong key for our booked room and they gave the Family the wrong key but with the same room number. No explanation was made what really happened at that exact moment from the receptionist , got no time to go down and ask the reception since we're tired from that day. But ofcourse we're already bothered and scared about that."

I stayed at Merian Hotel in Cologne, and I must say — the location and price were unbeatable!
📍 Perfect Location
The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from Cologne Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom). It’s incredibly convenient if you’re traveling by train or planning to explore the old town on foot. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and major attractions in under 10 minutes.
💰 Excellent Value for Money
For such a prime central location, the room rate was very affordable. It’s rare to find a hotel this close to the station and city center at such a low price. The room was basic but clean, and included breakfast, which made it an even better deal.
🛏️ Room Tips
Rooms facing the street or train station might get a bit noisy, so I recommend asking for a quiet room facing the courtyard if you’re a light sleeper."

GGästanvändareThe hotel location was great, and so close to the subway for easy transport into the city. When I made the reservation, it did not indicate that parking was an additional fee, just that there was parking. Not that parking was very much, but I don't recall seeing a fee posted on the booking website, and it was jusy unexpected. The room was sufficient- a tiny bit smaller than expected. And the room had a slight sour smell, not sure if it was mildew or just stuffy from the winter west weather, but we were only there one night, so we didn't fuss. The check-in staff spoke less english than expected, but was okay, as my Deutsch was just good enough we could meet in the middle. Breakfast was a good spread and the attendants were plenty.

View: it is great view where you could Rhine river at sunrise it is golden and it is beautiful
Amenities : everything is comfortable. I love the fact they provide carbonated water and can opener for the bottled water. It is small details like that which differs between great and marvelous.
Hospitality: I was really tired when I arrived and the front desk understand my exhaustion. I appreciate that.

I come here for check in around 3:30pm, there are a group of elders checking in front me, I waited around 30minutes there. I think the reception is a responsible one but he can either speed up the progress, skip some of the elders questions, and also hotel to consider add one more staff there to support. The long waiting time of check-in delay my travel visit here.
The room is very clean, and also new. The place is a little far away by not that far from main city.
The room windows are all locked, it is a bit frustrated.
The hot water suspended, and when i called reception for 5 times, they finally pick my phone up saying technical issues into 8am , which i have to leave the hotel at 8:15am for my flight...
Finally, the breakfast is insanely good! You guys can have a try.

GGästanvändareOutstanding find. Excellent check in by Mr Mark. We received a 50% discount on the underground overnight parking. Room matches the description. Pleasant room. Great AC, fridge, toiletries etc. Wifi was great.
Fantastic location for local sightseeing. The river is right behind.
This hotel was a great experience.

GGästanvändareWhen I was checking in, I was a little worried the staff would be unable to speak English. However the two receptionists who helped me were perfectly fluent and answered any questions I had. I did unfortunately have to pay a city tax on top of my room, but it wasn’t expensive and this is a common thing in most hotels in Europe.
The room itself was pretty decent and had plenty of space for my suitcase and to walk around. The en-suite was great and had good towels and hot shower. The bed was comfy with a good mattress and duvet wise, but the pillows were a bit limp and didn’t have a lot in them. I spoke to another member of staff who spoke little English, who said he’d look and bring one to my room, but this never happened. Whatever the case, still had a good sleep, would have better with extra head comfort.
As for breakfast, there was a great variety of choice from fry-up food (bacon, sausages, eggs) to continental pastries and drinks. I would say the only downside was there was not enough for fruit, as there was only a few apples and plates of sliced oranges. Would have been better if there was more to choose fruit wise, but everything else was great and was a good fuel up for the day in Cologne.
When checking out, they also allowed me to place my luggage and bags in their storage room with zero charge which is great when you’re exploring for the day and have a later departure time.
Overall, if you’re in Cologne for a day (like me) or two, this place is a great option and I would stay here again!

Then the more we got a feeling of the area & the room & its amenities we took a step back and realised it's not bad at all. It certainly isn't the Ritz, but you sometimes have to take a step back and accept for what the price we paid in a major city with a brilliant location. It's a very good deal. Room. The cleaner was very nice she came in every day for the basic jobs, comfortable bed, lovely, big pillows, hair dryer shower good pressure and comfortable for our size etc etc. We chose the breakfast which we knew it was going to be continental style, Ok for the 3 days but limited and same each morning. Muhammad, the general manager, is such a likeable guy. Everything we asked, he sorted.thanks, mate. The guys in the breakfast hall are all helpful & polite. Remember, those who are looking for a major hotel it's not that, but we see our trips around citys as just needing a base. we spend most of the days out once we've left the room.
So a refresh bed, shower, room, location, all fine. There are plenty of things to pick holes at, but be open-minded, and it's fine. Ian AnneMarie Uk.🇬🇧👍

GGästanvändareStay was ok but even for 3* I found various factors very upsetting;
#1. Stairwell main fire escape ALL doors were wedged open!! Is this legal?!
#2. Entering the room my first impression as a stained seemingly worn out carpet looking disgusting!!
#3. Using the toilet I found I could not close the door because the toilet IS IN THE WAY!!! *******!!!
#4. The safe for my keys, money and passport was BROKEN and impossible to use - no handle, no batteries. This gave me a worried feeling throughout my stay!!!
#5. THE TELEVISION DID NOT WORK - and it seems HASNT WORKED FOR WEEKS!! Outrageous and in breach of your contract.
#6. A small but simple point to correct - a missing bedside lamp shade.
#7. Finally just a point of service with the lady serving breakfast noisily clipclooping about in her shoes as well as being surly and noisy with serving and clearing breakfast

CCnoolerDet är svårt att hitta ett rum i Köln under utställningen.Detta hotell ligger inte långt från centralstationen, mindre än 20 minuters promenad bort, och dörren är en livlig handelsgata. Hotellrummen är lite gamla och har ingen luftkonditionering utan en fläkt.Många hotell i Tyskland har ingen luftkonditionering.Du bör vara uppmärksam på detta problem om du åker dit under den varmaste tiden. Hotellets frukost är ganska bra Frukostrummet har en elegant miljö och ett utomhusläge. Servicepersonalen är mycket vänlig och välkomnande.

GGästanvändarethe room is clean, the owner is gentle and responsive. The only problem is there is no sound proof at all - considering this is a general flat problem, we can still bear with many random noises coming from outside or inside the building. But there are two permanent residents who share the flat with us cooking and talking to each other from 23pm to 1am, just outside our room. we felt weird to tell them to keep quiet as we are the 'temporary guest'. there must be some rules to be set up if the owner wants to mix long-term and short-term stays.
