"My second stay at Quintessa. This time, it was a last min booking. The room, as with all Jap hotels, is small. Difficult for a clam-shell luggage. But it will be manageable if you packed well. Location is good - near to the airport limousine bus bus-stop, near to eateries, cafe, LOFT, MUJI, DON DONKI etc."

"A classic Showa-era business class hotel with a beautiful lobby. Features and amenities were standard for this class. The room was quiet and with careful management of the window curtains and heat pump comfortable enough on winter nights. Wifi/Internet was fast. There was a noticable odor behind the toilet where it's hard to clean, and though it was hard to see while standing, sitting in the bath revealed a ring of mildew on a seam of waterproof wall around the tub, which was no big deal but a surprise in an otherwise clean room. I'd probably stay again because the price on my package deal was competitive, but was disappointed to find that the late check-out service was not available for the stated fee (or any fee); I may not have communicated my request correctly to the night front desk clerk the evening before check-out morning (night three of three), the first such denial received at a Japanese business class hotel, and so you should probably inquire at check-in if you think you might require this so that there are no surprises."

"Good location, Just a 1-minute walk from the JR station. Many shops around. Easy to find food. Sound proof was quite ok although I could still hear some noise from the train sometimes. Since the air-conditioner could generate only the hot air, I had to open the window but it was not noisy. Toilet was comparatively bigger than other hotels at the same level. Price was good Could communicate in English"

"Average hotel. Room too hot can’t control temperature even aircon turned down to minimum. Irritating motion sensor light in the hall keeps coming on if you move at night. Average small onsen. Quite a soul less hotel."

"Good stay, with clean room and comfortable bed. Breakfast has more of western style, less of Japanese food, but the view of Sakurajima can be seen from restaurant. However in the morning, you may be eating under the sunshine, so better to go for breakfast either very early or much later, not when 8 plus as the sun is strong and you may be given a window seat for solo traveller and when the restaurant is packed."

"5mins' walk to Kagoshimachuo Station. Could hear trains passing by now and then but it doesn't really affect sleep. Polite staff. We stayed for two nights and got slightly different breakfast options each morning which is a plus!"

"pretty good place to stay as it's pretty close to the tram and it's located in the centre of town. there was only one elevator for this specific branch so it could get a bit annoying. there's also no coin laundry service but there's one located just right beside but it's pretty costly."
