"Decent clean stay, and good value for the money. Room was small and tidy, clean bathroom, quite nice modern style overall with apparent concrete wall finish ( cool if you ask me and unexpected ).
Staff was friendly and helpful, only thing was that the room was direclty in front of the elevator and it was noisy. In the early morning there are monkeys on the balcony searching for food so better not leave the door open."

"Дешевый гостевой дом. Хозяин немножко схитрил, когда разместил фото дома, где живет он сам. Для гостей есть отдельный домик, не такой красивый и темный. Хозяин вежливый, готовый помочь, но прижимистый. Например, за ту же цену за завтрак в городе можно поесть дешевле.
Мебель нормальная, матрас хороший. Есть душ, но вода холодная и водонагреватель не успевает нагревать. Неплохо оборудована кухня. Есть микроволновка, электрочайник и холодильник. В жилой комнате можно включать вентилятор. У него 5 скоростей.
Самое плохое в доме это подъезд. Высоко и неудобно. Ночью дорога освещается лишь частично. Не для пеших прогулок вечерами."

"The hotel is conveniently located and offers good value for the price. It appears to have been recently renovated. The front desk staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional; they kindly assisted me with ticket booking and provided useful local information. Room cleanliness was better than average. The hotel also offers on-site laundry services at reasonable rates, which was very convenient.
The only downside is that there is no elevator from the lobby to the first floor, so I had to carry my luggage up one floor before accessing the elevator to my room."

"It was a delightful stay at the Forest View Villa. The food was delicious, especially the rolled pancakes for breakfast and the view amazing. We highly recommend this place.
As the train connection between Kandy and Ella is not yet (end of February 2026) working, due to the devastating cyclon in December 25, you might want to consider asking your host to drive you. It might be less stressful than changing busses 3 times."

GGästanvändareПотрясающая вилла и очень гостеприимный хозяин. Очень чисто, уютно и красиво, хозяин помог заказать еду во время ливня и интересовался как наши дела после отъезда. Пришли утром и приготовили шикарный завтрак, пока мы спали. Появилось ощущение, что мы в гостях у Шри-Лпнкийских друзей :) В доме есть все необходимое, хотели бы остаться тут на срок подольше!

GGästanvändareI cannot love this hotel more! Sweet and personal service, best demonstrating South Asian hospitality! The room was spacious, clean and well maintained! The crew was very professional and helped me with transportation and communication! They were so happy seeing me back every night, which made me feel so welcomed! The catering there is really good and I recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast - I cannot find rotti tastier than there’s!
I’ve been to so many hotels, and none has offered me such good hospitality before - the professionalism + the human touch! I really love them!

It’s a 20 minute tuk tuk ride up the hill from the town centre, but well worth it if you want a peaceful and calm place to stay. The owner is also very helpful.

However, it is too fat away from Kandy city center, you have to pay 1500+ rp for each ride, and most tuk tuk drivers don't prefer to go to this place. The google map shows wrong way and the team knew about this, but informed us just on the day of arrival, making this journey even harder.

This place is truly a hidden gem. It was the perfect spot for a honeymoon couple or anyone looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway.
Travel tip: From Colombo, you can catch a direct bus to Nuwalapitiya. We didn’t know this and went via Kandy, which made the journey longer than necessary. If we had known, we would have taken the direct bus—it’s much easier.
Ps:The bus ride is phenomenal—very beautiful views along the way and very cheap.
The property is located on a hill and is naturally beautiful, surrounded by trees and birds whose songs make the atmosphere even more serene. It does get a bit cold at night, but it was the perfect kind of chilly—cozy and refreshing.
Our room had an amazing view, making it even more special. The stay itself was perfect for our honeymoon: very cozy, comfortable, and clean.
The staff were amazing, especially one gentleman at the restaurant (I didn’t catch his name, but I want to mention him). He went above and beyond to help us and was incredibly sweet and warm-hearted—it really made our stay special.
A small note: we noticed the pool looked a bit dirty, which some other reviews also mentioned. However, it was clarified in the pool area that they use natural spring water without chemicals, so this is expected and actually a great eco-friendly approach. But This hotel needs some love because this is a very nice place.
Another small note: there were some insects, like cockroaches, but that’s expected when staying on a hill in the middle of nature surrounded by trees.
Overall, this was a truly wonderful experience and a perfect spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!!

RRipple LeonardIt’s a four-room hotel transformed from governor house which has a unique historic colonial style. Room has no windows and no common hotel area. Located next to the Tooth Temple and central streets, convenient for visits and restaurants. Breakfast at the French bistro next door which has good lever of food provided but surprisingly slow service. Overall it’s a good stay for Kandy, but value for money is relatively low.

The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.

GGästanvändarehad pleasure of staying at this hotel, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of service and hospitality we received. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable.
The team was incredibly helpful in arranging transportation and suggesting places to visit. They recommended we attend the Tooth Relic Procession and suggested us to visit a waterfall, which turned out to be the most breathtaking waterfall I've ever seen. Their local knowledge truly enhanced our experience.
When our cab dropped us off in the mid , the hotel staff immediately came to pick us up in tuk-tuk.
The staff was consistently polite and accommodating, making us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place where the staff genuinely cares about making your stay special. Thank you for the experience!

HHskdbm酒店非常新淨，冷氣很足，熱水也很快，風景非常優美，看着可以發呆一整天。餐廳食物不錯，咖喱雞是我在斯里蘭卡吃過最好味的，不過建議詢問當天有什麼食物提供，提供用餐時間，好讓他們準備，因為只有一兩位服務員，其中一位非常友善，可是英文不太好，但是都很熱心幫忙，另外一位會whatspp提供幫助，英文非常好，是可以信賴的人。
唯一要注意是沒有電梯，而且沒有風筒，個人用品也建議自己帶備。中間亦試過突然停電一小段時間，但是很快會回復，不會影響正常生活，且酒店大門沒有上鎖。另外我住了兩晚，可是服務員沒有收拾房間，而且第一天在洗手間看到一隻很大隻的蜘蛛，不過這是住在郊外的代價，想要看到優美的風景，便有機會會遇上野生昆蟲。
由市中心上酒店的路途風景優美，酒店步行15分鐘左右有小段瀑布，非常優美，有興趣可以叫篤篤司機停低拍照欣賞。另外留意因為居住比較偏遠，所以附近不會有餐廳，建議在市中心補給才回酒店。
整體還是非常推薦，但是要有心理準備不會準時區般這麼方便，但是值得的。
