"Hotel Review – Hotel Ocidental Dresden Newa I recently stayed at Hotel Ocidental Dresden Newa, and while the property benefits from a central location in the inner city, the overall experience was disappointing. The hotel’s greatest advantage is indeed its proximity to the city center, allowing convenient access to major attractions and public transportation. However, aside from this, the stay was overshadowed by several shortcomings. Firstly, the amenities were very limited, and the guest room itself appeared dated and somewhat worn, reflecting the age of the hotel. This left an impression of tiredness rather than comfort. The most concerning issue, however, relates to the parking situation. The hotel advertises that it offers its own parking facilities, yet in reality, this is not the case. Guests are required to use a public parking facility nearby, which is misleading and highly inconvenient. This information should be corrected immediately, as it creates false expectations for visitors arriving by car. Additionally, the area in front of the hotel is consistently overcrowded with parked vehicles, often blocking arriving guests from accessing the entrance or unloading luggage during check-in. This further contributed to a frustrating arrival experience. In conclusion, while the central location is undeniably practical, the limited amenities, outdated rooms, misleading information about parking, and poorly managed entrance area significantly detract from the overall quality of the stay. I would strongly recommend the management address these issues to ensure a more accurate representation of the hotel and a better experience for future guests."

"The only positive thing about this hotel were the room, big and spacious, and the location, super central. Although the moquette is unhygienic. I always appreciate a luggage rack but one in a room for 2 people is ridiculous. We also got unlucky with the bathroom as the shower curtain was mounted wrong so taking a shower meant creating a lake in the bathroom. The hotel is not very well organised, we had to wait a lot to check-in and when it was finally our turn, even though the room was ready, we would have had to pay to check in earlier for mere 50 minutes. Embarrassing. We left the luggages and came back later and had to queue again with all the guests that had just arrived, for more than half an hour. We only needed the key cards, we already did all the paperwork. They preauthorised 50€ per night on our cards, in case we wanted to use the room service or the restaurant, which we explained we didn’t. And if you looked at the room service menu, you wouldn’t want to as well.. I would expect a famous chain like the Hilton to know that “Taglietelle Carbonara” doesn’t exist, it’s “Spaghetti carbonara” or “Rigatoni alla carbonara”. Furthermore “Spaghetti bolognese” doesn’t exist as well, it’s “tagliatelle bolognese”. There’s a pool but it’s unclear if it’s available to every guest. The staff is not keen on divulging information. It would be nice if more of the staff would be able to speak English (and maybe a third language) as a lot of the guests are tourists from other countries."

"One of our favourite hotels we’ve ever visited. We loved the style of the hotel and the incredibly friendly reception, who provided us with an amazing suite for the duration of our stay! 10/10 would recommend for anyone considering a stay in Dresden. While it is not completely central, it is well connected with the tram and Dresden Mitte nearby and only a 10 minute walk to the Altstadt."

"Das Hotel hat unsere Erwartungen voll und ganz erfüllt! Die Lage ist hervorragend – in nur wenigen Minuten ist man mitten in der Altstadt und der Fußgängerzone, und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten sind bequem zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und von guter Qualität, sodass der Tag perfekt starten konnte. Die Zimmer waren sauber, groß und sehr gemütlich, man hat sich sofort wohlgefühlt. Auch die Parkgarage war ein großer Pluspunkt und sehr praktisch. Rundum ein gelungener Aufenthalt, wir können das Hotel weiterempfehlen!"

"Angenehme Lage, Altstadt zu Fuß zu erreichen. 5 Minuten Laufweg zu günstigen Parkplätzen. Der Zimmerpreis ist wettbewerbsfähig. Frühstück reichlich, aber für 1 Brötchen und 1 Kaffee zu hoch."

"Hotel at good location, walking distance to major attractions with many eateries around. We are upgraded to the junior suite, the room is big and the bed is comfortable. The staff are helpful, will recommend this hotel to those visiting Dresden. Walking to Dresden HBF is about 20 mins which is not very far."

"Sehr schönes Hotel, direkt an der Elbe und kurzem Fußweg zur Altstadt. Die Zimmer sind sehr groß und haben eine riesige Fensterfront mit Blick auf die Elbe. Leider ist keine Klimaanlage vorhanden und im Sommer wird es im Zimmer sehr warm. Ein Standlüfter verschafft aber etwas Erleichterung. Das Frühstück wird in einem großen Pavillon serviert und ist sehr reichhaltig und es alles vorhanden, einschließlich Eierspeisen."
