The Solymar beach resort is not the most expensive resort in the Hurghada/Safaga area, but it’s also not the cheapest. Because of this, we were expecting it to be quite middle-of-the-range in terms of quality. At every turn, we were pleasantly surprised and delighted. The staff were friendly and courteous - whether at the reception, in the restaurant, or walking past someone watering the grass, you are guaranteed a friendly greeting. Everyone is quick to know their customers - after just a day in our usual spot on the beach, Ahmed knew our usual order. The hyper-energetic Magic Entertainment team members were also quick to build rapport and make us feel included in the resort vibes. We plunged immediately into extreme relaxation with a “honeymoon massage” at the spa, which included time in the dry and steam saunas, a special hammam exfoliation ritual on a heated marble slab, a full-body Dead Sea mud wrap, and an oil massage. The masseuses were talkative and playful - possibly not to everyone’s taste, but this seems to be the Egyptian way and certainly got me smiling and giggling along. There is not a moment of the day when you might be at risk of going hungry. From the early breakfast in the main restaurant, to the late breakfast at the beach, to the drinks and snacks on offer throughout the day at the pool bar and restaurant, there is always a wide array of quality F&B choices. There is some variation from day -to-day options, and it’s always worth checking out the “fresh-from-the-grill” area to see what the day’s speciality may be. Part of the stay includes one complementary meal at one of the two a la carte restaurants (Italian/Egyptian) where the food is a level or two up from what’s served in the buffets. Go hungry - the Egyptian meal included a starter of hot and cold mezze, a soup, a main course and a dessert (with alternative plant-based and kiddies’ menus). The resort has done a lot to ensure that it is eco friendly. Apart from the usual request to hang up towels to save water on unnecessary cleaning, they also purify their own water, which is left in your room in chilled glass bottles (it tastes a little weird, but it’s good for the planet). Overall, highly recommend the Solymar resort.

I recently stayed in the Sunrise Alma Bay for 8 days and the hotel atmosphere was just great. The hotel staff were so helpful. My room cleaner Ibrahim was so accommodating, friendly and efficient...and an expert in towel art! Emad at the pool bar was so welcoming and the service was excellent. Hamdy and Mohammed in the towel station/by the beach were friendly faces every morning and so helpful. Anastasia in Guest Relations came around to our table every breakfast and was able to action any little requests we had. She was very impressive with her notebook and actioning things so quickly. And lastly, when I asked to extend my room for a few hours (and very reasonable additional cost) on my last day, the Hotel Manager arranged for me to be moved to a suite on the seafront and the concierge Mahmoud was so kind in helping with my luggage and room change. I have been visiting Egypt for 10 years now and this stay has been a highlight for me because of the helpfulness and friendliness of the hotel staff, the delicious food, the pool (one of the best I have seen), and the beach front with pier and lagoona just make it the perfect location. The added bonus is that it is only about 20 mins from Hurghada airport. I would recommend this hotel to families, couples, singles and will definitely be coming back again. Thank you. Ciara

Detta all inclusive-hotell erbjuder utmärkt värde och ett fantastiskt läge. Det är bara en kort 10-minuters taxiresa från piren och Carrefour. Den fyra våningar höga Cleopatra Bazar ligger några minuters promenad bort, och det finns många souvenirbutiker i närheten av hotellet. Servicen är utmärkt. Under våra två nätter var personalen, mestadels europeisk och amerikansk, mycket vänlig och kände sig inte diskriminerade. Rummets bekvämligheter var kompletta (förutom bristen på tandkräm, tandborste och plasttofflor). Vi fick en stor flaska mineralvatten varje dag, och det fanns varmvatten tillgängligt dygnet runt. Receptionen var mycket hjälpsam. Efter utcheckning stannade vi i lobbyn till 15:00 innan vi tog en taxi till flygplatsen. Under den tiden använde en receptionist sitt WhatsApp-konto för att ladda ner foton och videor som tagits av glasbåtsfotografen åt mig (jag hade redan betalat när jag gick iland, men WhatsApp fungerade inte på min telefon). Trots att vi redan hade checkat ut bjöd receptionisten oss ändå till restaurangen för en buffémåltid och tog inte av oss våra armband förrän vi var utanför hotellet och skulle ta en taxi. Sammantaget är detta ett hotell som lämpar sig för att ligga ner på när man kommer till Hurghada.

I have booked this trip for myself with my two girls. I would definitely recommend this resort. The location, service, I have no complaints. While booking this trip through trip.com, I selected 12 years for my younger daughter and two adults. I was supposed to pay 48 dollars at property for my child, surprisingly the reception asked me to pay some huge amount which is around 170 dollars, saying they will consider my daughter as an adult, as she is 12 years 3 months, we were tired, hungry, after travelling 5 hours by road, had to fight a lot for this, at last the manager considered and I paid the due amount only. If 12/13 years is considered as an adult, why trip is giving the option to select child till 17 years of age? Or I am not sure this is a trick of the hotel to earn more money? I want to make sure before booking with this website again. I always book through ***********, never experienced such an issue.

My stay was okay, but my experience was ruined by a taxi driver who agreed on 8 euros from the airport to the apartment. He demanded 20 euros after arrival in the apartment. ( My 2 friends paid 5 euros to a hotel few steps away) It took over 2 hours to negotiate the fee, involving 2 members from the government authority. I slept late and felt exhausted the next day. Staff at the apartment were helpful. Good breakfast on the roof. Kitchen was useful. Close walking distance to the high street. But the tiles in the bathroom were not clean, toilet seat kept dislocating from screws, drainage in shower cubicle was not working properly. My feet were covered with water for about 10 cm high when finishing the shower. I did not like it.

The beach is stunning—very quiet with crystal clear water—but be careful entering the sea as there are many rocks at the shoreline. However, there are several drawbacks: Service: The staff seems very inexperienced. We were charged to upgrade from a single to a double room even though the website listed them at the same price. At breakfast, we had to ask for coffee multiple times before it actually arrived. Facilities: Surprisingly, the main pool is not heated, and there is no elevator, which is worth noting if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues. Location: You are quite isolated here. You definitely need a car or a shuttle to get anywhere. Overall, it’s a nice physical space, but the management needs to better train the staff to match the ”new” feel of the resort.

Harika Bir Konaklama – A Stay That Turned My Trip Around – Ein Aufenthalt, der meinen Urlaub gerettet hat I only stayed in Hurghada for two days, and unfortunately my first day didn’t go well because I had booked the wrong hotel. After leaving that place and arriving here, I instantly realized I had finally made the right choice. Even though I spent only two days at this resort, I left wishing I had booked a much longer stay. All the staff members were genuinely kind and attentive. The food selection was extensive with plenty of delicious options. The beachfront, the swimming pool, and the overall resort atmosphere were wonderful. After my check-out, my flight wasn’t until midnight, yet the hotel kindly allowed me to continue using the resort facilities— and even encouraged me to enjoy the dinner buffet. This thoughtful gesture truly made a difference. During my trip across Egypt, I stayed at 4–5 different hotels, and this one was by far the best. Another big advantage was that the staff could speak both German and English, which made things so much easier. I’d like to give special thanks to receptionist Mina Khalil, who was extremely helpful and kind throughout my stay. There’s only one thing I believe could be improved: Even though it’s 2025, the in-room internet was available only for an extra fee. At a hotel of this quality, fast and complimentary internet in the rooms should definitely be standard. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I would absolutely choose this hotel again.

Perfect resort for a holiday with friendly staffs and beautiful beach. Also good for snorkeling. Just a few steps away from the beach you could find corals and fishes.

Receptionen fungerar utmärkt, löser incheckningen snabbt! Alltid vänlig och hjälpsam! Jag kommer gärna tillbaka! Jag tackar hela hotellets team för en underbar semester!

Jag höll nästan på att missa min incheckning eftersom agenten avbokade min bokning. Ctrips kundtjänst var mycket hjälpsam med att lösa problemet. Hotellet ligger inte vid havet, men det har två små pooler. Jag hann inte simma eftersom jag skulle på en båttur nästa dag. Att boka detta hotell, som bara inkluderade frukost och middag, var ett bra köp. De gav mig en penna vid incheckningen. Jag bad inte om en rumsuppgradering, men de gav mig en svit på andra våningen. Restaurangen var lite liten, men buffén var hyfsad.
