Best service ever. The ryokan provided transport to nearby attractions and also picked us up when we are done for the day. The food was amazing too :)

Had a delightful stay at the ryokan. The rooms are quite impeccable with the smell of the hinoki filling the room, it was quite heavenly. We chose the room with the outdoor bath. And given the cool weather, our bathing experience was amazing. The location was also perfect if you are making a trip to the Sengokuhara Susuki Pampas Grass fields, which is such a scenic spot and of which we enjoyed walked to and through in the setting sun. We also opted to have dinner at the ryokan, who specially made it Halal-friendly for us. What's most amazing to us regarding the ryokan was the service. We had a Nepalese staff speaking with us most of the time, as he was the best in English. He personally brought us to our room and even gave an introduction to the room, and what we needed to take note off. After we checked out, he enquired how we were making our way to the train station. There was conveniently located bus stop just outside the ryokan, so we were going to take that. On our way out, he drove out and stopped along the road beside us (good thing there was no traffic) and to our utter surprise offered to drive us to the train station. We found out that he was actually knocking off, but instead of going straight home to rest (before his next shift in the evening), he wanted to drive us to the station. We were exceptionally touched at his extremely kind gesture (as we didn't think it was hotel protocol to do so). Nonetheless, his actions left us a beautiful and lasting impression on the ryokan. Would definitely go again for the luxurious experience!

A beautiful hotel sited beside a nice lake. Very good view and it has a nice public onsen. Service is good, food is good and nice big soft beds. The only bad thing is that it is very far from the major town. You have to drive out for food. Once you buy your snacks and drinks in advance, then it will be all good.

The private onsen service was terrible. Please do not get the private onsen. The receptionist in the onsen does not understand english. The receptionist also did not assist us. The time was also incorrect. We were supposed to have 8-9 and 9-10 slot. But ahe is so confused. And 9:30 they are already knocking our doors calling us to come out. A totally bad experience in the private onsen. The hotel is ok. Food is also good. The private onsen which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip… became the worst. Total waste of money

Overall an ok stay. A bit hard to find, very limited English spoken by the staff which led to some confusion (even for the representatives who were assigned to us by English speakers). Felt quite formal and not that warm Room was more or less as expected, and the dinner and breakfast meals were quite elaborate. Felt that breakfast was actually the stronger meal of the two, so wasn’t necessarily worth it to pay extra for dinner. I’d likely skip doing dinner in the future. The room attendant who helped us was very kind and attentive, although we had a bit of language barrier given we don’t speak Japanese. The big disappointment was even though the ryokan is advertised as allowing guests to book one of the larger hot springs on the property for private use for 45 minutes, we weren’t able to do this. We arrived within the designated check in time and were told that it was all booked up for the day. There was no way to book in advance and we were only staying for one night, and they didn’t try to accommodate allowing us to book at all for the next day before checkout. This really hampered the experience overall - we weren’t that interested in using the gender segregated facility (was traveling with my partner who is the opposite gender) as we wouldn’t be able to spend time together, and the tub in our room was quite small. They should amend this policy to allow all guests to book a private hot spring time or not advertise it as part of the room! Feels like we got cheated out of the service and we weren’t offered anything else as an alternative. I would have booked another ryokan had I known this were the case - there are many others in Hakone which are much better value and have nicer / newer private facilities for around the same price. I wouldn’t recommend Yama no Chaya given this was a big part of what we thought would make it a good experience

Vi besökte Hakone Kuori-tei (diana の / Sengokuhara Hisanoha) på 19 november 2025 och stannade i två nätter under utforskning av Hakone.I det fredliga Sendokuharaområdet erbjuder ryokan en tyst och avkopplande flykt omgiven av naturen. Med bara 8 rum känner ryokan privat, bekvämt och lugnt.Vi stannade på andra våningen i rummet 205, som hade bra utrymme för att bekvämt bo hos 2 vuxna med 24-inch bagage. Varje morgon njöt vi en vacker glimtande utsikt över höstbladen, glänsande under morgonsolen en perfekt start till dagen. Observera att andra våningen inte har någon hiss, bara trappor.Men personalen var mycket hjälpsam och hjälpte med att bära våra bagage, som vi verkligen uppskattade. Vårt rum hade ett enkelt badrum utan dusch, men ryokan s åsna på nivå 1 var ren, lugnande och perfekt för avkoppling efter en dags sevärdhet. Frukost och middag inkluderades, och middagen erbjöd ett val av shabu-shabu eller sukiyaki.Vi försökte båda och älskade dem.Vi älskade rött, färska grönsaker, och läckra, tröstande smaker. En av de mest speciella betoningarna är den friströmsdrickande stationen med: • ☕ Kaffe • 🍺 Craft öl • 🍶 Sake • 🥃 Högboll • 🍷 Umeshu (mjöl) • 🧃 Orange & äppeljuice • 🥤 mjuka drycker Gäster kan ta med sig drycker till sitt rum, vilket gör kvällarna extra trevliga. Parkering är utformad för ryokan gäster, och det finns massor av parkeringsplatser, vilket gör ankomst och avresa smidig. Personalen var varm, snäll och uppmärksam till den fredliga atmosfären i hela vistelsen.

Nice ryokan with modern hotel vibes. Very good that they provided a free shuttle from the hotel to Hakone yumoto station. Note that the shuttle from the station to hotel is only from 2-6pm and the shuttle from hotel to station is only in the morning. But fits the usual check in and check out time. The room was spacious and great. Service was good and kaiseki meals were very delicious. There was also a public onsen which wasn’t crowded especially at night. The rooftop view is nice too

Very nice (and spacious - by tokyo standards) hotel!! We had a balcony view of the mountain and the golf course. I didn't read the description and was pleasantly surprised that there was an onsen (must pay 150 yen usage fee per person). It was a really nice onsen too. It was raining the day that we got there and it made the outdoor onsen just magical with the rain in the backdrop. However, they do not allow tattooed guests into the onsen so foreigners, please be aware. The room was nice and gave old timey feels. I appreciated the big, long couch too. One drawback was that there was no microwave in the whole building :( But overall, would come back. It's a 10 minute walk from the T Tozan bus (so you can get there pretty quickly from the Togendai bus/ropeway station. The Lawson is right there next to the bus stop too (we got to go while the Evangelion collab was going on). The hotel has a free shuttle bus to various locations too so I would inquire about those upon check-in since those have to be booked the day before, but if you have the Hakone free pass and don't mind walking, it's pretty accessible via the Tozan bus lines

Need to walk a bit from the train station but there is a shuttle bus from here to the train station. Customer service was great and enjoyed the bath outdoor in rainy weather.
