Very convenient location, when you arrive at the metro station you don’t even need to take out the map to find the hotel. It is literally in front of the metro exit. And it is quiet despite the railway in 20 meters. The staff was incredibly nice and polite to me, the room is fresh and clean and very nice restaurant is available on the first floor

The hotel stay is wonderful. The hotel is huge with an enormous lobby, looks sleek, and is classy with the dim light. The lobby is located at 20th floor, no comments on the bf as I only booked the room without bf. Check in and out are effortless. Staff is friendly and approachable. Amenities in room are plentiful and abundant. All shampoo, conditioner and bath lotion come in big bottles so it is more than sufficient for use. Inside bathroom, you can control the volume and listen to the TV you on outside so it is very useful. In room has the Alexa which you can easily communicate with it for anything of interest to you. Besides, the hotel is very conveniently located, near to Shinjuku station and the nearby shopping malls. The room is huge and comes with bathtub and it has a balcony area too. Highly recommended for staying here in Tokyo. You will not regret definitely!

The hotel's location is not particularly easy to find. I have put the photo of the main entrance in the comments. I hope the hotel can have a more eye-catching sign. This is a great choice for traveling alone. The polenta in the hotel restaurant suits my taste very well. The restaurant is located on a higher floor and has a good view.

Location is great, next to Lawson and McDonald’s. Less than 10 mins walk to Shinjuku train and bus station. Also 10 mins walk to Takashimaya and Ichiran ramen. Food shopping, kombini and fast food all near you!

We stayed in this hotel as a family. We booked 3 Twin Standard rooms and I would say the size of the room is decent. It is enough for 2 opened big lugagges, but you will feel cramped. Their breakfast is standard, and there is not variety since we stayed there for 5 nights and it is always the same each day. The great things about this hotel would be it is connected to a mall and their Natural Onsen is definitely a MUST GO! It is a very nice onsen in the heart of Tokyo city!

Hotel location was ideal. It was relatively near to the Shimbashi station and Ginza station. Lots of shops around Ginza that are few minutes walk away. Noted the room had a pamphlet for ¥1000 should we not request for room service. Throughout the 6 nights, no one offered the voucher which was weird as I stayed at the Lively, Osaka and was offered the voucher upfront upon check in. Understand it might be a different process and procedure but if there was going to be a voucher, it should have been more upfront and transparent. On the 4th night, requested for bottled water and was seemingly questioned if I requested for room service which i denied and was given a rather doubtful look. Not the best experience with the agent but was a pleasant stay nonetheless.

Love this hotel! Such a cute French vibe.  - Fantastic location - shops, restaurants, combini, transport (Tokyo station/ginza station)  - Safe: need hotel key card to use elevator - Spacious: 2 people can open their baggage comfortably - Clean: housekeeping does such a great job, and because it’s spacious you can keep your stuff away and you can get your room cleaned every day. Even pyjamas are changed daily.   - Amenities: loved the selection amenities that you’re open to take on a daily basis from the front desk. Refa hair dryer, and a Mirabel (?) shower head that I later learned cost $400. - Others: There is a microwave in the lobby you can use, you’re able to store luggage with the hotel if you need, apparently there is ice at the front desk based on the info sheet but didn’t use.  Improvement points - because the shower head is new, it didn’t sit on the stand nicely so you need to hold it when showering. Check the plumbing - can have an unpleasant smell after taking shower.

A lovely hotel that I would stay at again. I booked the bunk bed, which my roommate and I felt really comfortable in. Staff were quite friendly and most understood/could speak English. It says self check-in on the booking page but there was someone present to help us through the check-in process. Note that there's an accommodation tax (900 yen per person) that needs to be paid on check-in. Since we stayed for more than five days, they did full housekeeping (changing bedsheets) for two out of the eight days. However, they also were able to provide fresh towels and clear trash daily (we just put their provided magnetic notice on the door and left the items at the entryway). Showers were small, but amazing. They provide a day's worth of toothpaste, a toothbrush, a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, an electric kettle, a microwave, plates, utensils, cups, scissors, detergent, and two pairs of room slippers. There was an HDTV (with an HDMI port) that we directly connected to Netflix (no need to logout) as well. This hotel is about an 8 minute walk away from Ryogoku station and 11 mins from Asakusa station. If you have a really physical day or have hefty luggage, then this might feel a bit far, but the area generally feels safe, and you get to cross the bridge over the Sumida river to/from Asakusa, which is nice. Other things to note: There is one shared washing machine for the whole hotel that's free to use, and it takes about 2H per wash and tumble dry cycle. There was no quick wash setting. We had to do ours in the wee hours because other guests were quicker to use them in the ”prime” hours (7-9am and 8pm-12mn). A QR code and/or number code is used to unlock your door's digital lock. It's also used for checkout, so save the sheet of paper they issue. Otherwise, remember to take a picture as there's no service staff after a certain time and they will lock the doors to the entrance where the only way to get in is the issued code. Someone pressed the fire alarm accidentally one morning, which brought the fire department, ambulance and police to the hotel and the alert was deafening and heard neighbourhood-wide. Look carefully before you press/lean on a surface - there's no covering on the alarm button, but it is in the centre of a giant red circle. It was an eventful morning but we did not enjoy running down and climbing up 8-storeys worth of stairs (they shut the elevators in emergencies). Overall, a relaxing, cool vibe that feels clean and cozy.

The hotel is in a fantastic location in the middle of akasaka. There are plenty of restaurants within proximity and a 7-eleven just under the hotel. Rooms whilst clean are very smaller. Smaller than other hotels in a similar price range.

Shinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel. The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking. Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level. Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch. Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue. In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!
