"The hotel is located in the vibrant Roppongi area, close to Tokyo Tower and near Don Quijote (Donki). The location is extremely convenient, with plenty of food options nearby. The hotel also offers beautiful views of the city. There is a bar and a yakiniku restaurant located within the hotel building, which makes dining very convenient. The hotel staff provide excellent service and are very welcoming. Please note that the check-in lobby is located on the 4th floor. The rooms are highly secure, as access to each floor requires a key card, which makes the stay feel very safe and comfortable."

"Our last hotel before flight back home from Narita airport, shuttle bus from and to Narita airport direct to this hotel is very helpful, especially if we have to rush to catch our flight early in the morning. There also 24 hours Family Mart in front of receptionist area where we could buy some merchandise and snacks to bring back home..very nice"

"Nöjd. Innan jag åkte dit såg jag några problem i recensionerna, som badrumslukt och vägglöss, så jag tog med egen medicin och lakan. Jag stötte inte på några av dessa problem. Rummet var inte stort, men det räckte för mitt barn och mig. Jag bad specifikt om att inte bo på en högre våning, eftersom detta område är benäget för jordbävningar. Städpersonalen på sjunde våningen var kinesisk; hon var väldigt trevlig och lärde mig till och med hur man öppnar fönstret för ventilation (något jag inte hade upptäckt tidigare). När det gäller spårvagnsljudet vetter fönstret mot den sidan, så jag tyckte det var acceptabelt, till och med ett slags bakgrundsljud. Jag somnade i princip till det och vaknade upp till det; ärligt talat verkade det fortfarande eka under min första natt hemma. Vi bodde i sju nätter, och först den sista dagen upptäckte vi en liten flod nära hotellet. Det är ganska trevligt att sitta där, dricka kaffe och titta på de boende som går förbi."

"Shinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel. The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking. Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level. Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch. Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue. In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!"

"The hotel is located near Hammatsucho train station, however easy access from Shimbashi Station as well. The receptionist staff at the hotel are all very friendly. Shout out to Yasaki and Thana who had wholehearterdly assisting me as I accidentally overbooked extra nite. With their assistance, I managed to get full refund for 1 night. Really grateful."

"Booked 7-9fl city room twin b. Got a room on 8th floor facing west side (the side with nicer city views i think) which was stuffy, and bathroom was old and grimy. Showed the photo with brown stains around hand basin to hotel front desk and was upgraded to 15F facing the east side (i think, can see morning sun on one corner)/driver learning center. 15F room’s centralised air conditioner was blowing cool air not heat (March - temperature outside was 5-10degrees at night). Room felt a bit cold but bearable. The room on 15F has a different toilet set up vs 8F, definitely cleaner and newer - i think it was refurbished, toilet roll cover is metal on 15F vs plastic on 8F. The bathroom mirror is heated and it does heats up the bathroom so you stay warm post bath. Hotel does not provide microwave oven but there is 24hr Family Mart on ground floor. Coin laundry on 6th floor, 6th floor corridor felt eerie. Vending machine on every floor. iron, ironing board and trousers press available for loan are placed next to vending machine. Ice machine available too. No humidifier in room but i didn’t ask if it’s available for loan. disposal slippers are replaced at every cleaning. Small non-smart TV. Imabari towels. Sound insulation not good. Can hear sounds from the corridors, my neighbours talking albeit muffled. Breakfast tasted alright, spread was exactly the same during the 3 days i stayed. Hotel staf were always polite and smiley. Very long trek to ikebukuro station. Airport limousine just outside the hotel, ikebus at hotel lobby driveway, walking distance to the Tokyo Sakura tram (Toden Arakawa line, more like a light rail behind houses than tram). Connected to Sunshine city 60 which has loads of restaurants and tax free shops."
