We have just finished renovating the entire house inside and out. We installed 6 air conditioning units, new hardwood floors, new tiling, custom window blinds, new mattresses and furnishings, landscaping throughout the backyard, two firepits, an outdoor dining area and 2 new washers and dryers. There are 4 brand new full bathrooms and 2 half-baths. Three of the bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms while the queen bedroom and the yellow bedroom share the hallway bathroom. There is a two-piece powder room and an exterior 2-piece bathroom. All the bedrooms are furnished with solid wood, high-quality furnishings, brand new mattresses, tropical linens, Hawaiian decor items, flat-screen TVs, colourful artwork, a ceiling fan and a personal fan for your comfort. The kitchen makeover included new quartz countertops, backsplash and window. It is fully equipped for making fabulous vacation meals; we have coffee makers, a slow-cooker, blender, food processor, toaster, and plenty of pots and pans. We can't imagine that you'll be missing anything you need! Before you retire for the night, have a tropical nightcap in a Tiki mug on the lanai overlooking the breathtaking Kauai mountains and the sunset.We planted over a hundred mature plants, trees and shrubs to provide a private tropical oasis at the Mokihana House. House and Recreation Facility RulesThe guest who rents the Mokihana House must be present for the rental period and must complete a rental contract stipulating the names, ages and addresses of all persons in the rental party. All guests must be at least 30 years of age unless they are children travelling with parents or grandparents.We do not allow events of any kind - no weddings, bachelor parties or the like. No additional persons are permitted at the house except those listed on the rental agreement. House sleeps a maximum of 10 persons on the 5 beds. We may make exceptions for very small children but additional charges apply. Inquire with the owners.Please note that the Mokihana House Kauai is located in a quiet residential neighborhood where most people sleep with their windows open. Kauai is also an island where most people are early to bed and early to rise. Keep your voices down in the evenings as noise really travels in quiet places. The entire Princeville District has strictly enforced noise ordinances with fines of $300 between 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM, $400 between 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM and $500 every 30 minutes if the violation continues - the guest will be charged these fines plus additional administration fees by the homeowners. It is imperative that guests are quiet after 10pm and respectful of our neighbors at all times. This is not a party house. Additional fines apply for breaches of the rental rules or noise ordinances.Parking must only be on our driveway - no parking is permitted on any roadways or lawns. Fines by Princeville will apply. No moving of furniture or beds as they break. No reprogramming or changing settings of electronics.Additional charges apply for excessive mess, failure to take the garbage cans out, failure to follow the check-out procedure, damage to the property or household items and the like.The Rules for the Recreational Facilities (pool and tennis court) must be adhered to or fines will apply. * There is no attendant or lifeguard, so all guests must clean up after themselves and take away all their garbage. * No glassware; we have acrylic drinkware you can take to the pool.* No loud music or rough-housing allowed at the pool. * Do not leave floaties, or pool toys there - take everything away with you. * Only white-soled shoes on the tennis court - absolutely no bare feet or other footwear is permitted as it ruins the tennis court. * All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied at the pool or tennis court by an adult who is responsible for supervising them. * Be respectful of the community and think of the neighbors who are perhaps not on vacation!Garbage is picked up on Wednesdays. If the Guest is staying at the property on a Wednesday, the Guest is responsible to take the garbage cans to the curb on Tuesday evening and return to the area by the garage on Wednesday afternoon. Pursuant to the Kauai County Code, Chapter 21, cans must be brought in on the same day as the pick-up, or Guest may incur a $200 fine. If a fine or citation is issued for a breach of the garbage by-laws, the Guest shall be responsible to pay the full cost of the fine and/or citation plus a $500 administration fee to the Homeowner. Never leave garbage of any kind outside for even a short period of time; it attracts wildlife and rodents. Repairs and Maintenance: Please note that we strive to attend to any repairs or maintenance issues immediately upon notification. However, on Kauai, it is very difficult to conduct timely repairs due to unavailability of tradespeople and slow delivery of materials and parts. No refunds or discounts will be provided due to defects that do not prevent occupancy of the Mokihana House. Cancellation Policy: If the guest cancels and we are able to secure a replacement reservation, the guest will receive a refund of up to 90% of the amount paid by the guest or up to 90% of the amount received for the replacement reservation, whichever is less. We will provide no refunds in the event of a cancellation if we do not secure a replacement reservation. The VRBO fees paid by the guest will not be refunded. The cleaning fee and any additional person fees or additional bed fees will be refunded. We are not an insurance provider so we do not provide a refund if the guest or any member of the rental party is unable to travel for any reason including illness. With bamboo hardwood floors throughout, the villa has been furnished with Tommy Bahama Furniture, Granite Counter Tops, Stainless Steel Kitchen aid Appliances, linens, dishes and island decorations, TV, DVD Player, an Electric Grill, and Free Wi-Fi. This villa also has a washer and dryer! The master bedroom with a comfy king size bed has its own bathroom with a newly renovated shower, floors, and countertops. The guest bedroom has a comfy queen size bed with its own newly renovated bathroom just a step into the hallway. Both bedrooms are on the lower floor each having access to the lower lanai with the same gorgeous views as the upper lanai. Ceiling fans are in each bedroom that keep you nice and cool.Our “Hale” is right next door (but not too close) to the five star 1Hotel Hanalei Bay with a beach bar and a number of great restaurants if you don’t feel like cooking or just want to hang-out and have a “Sunset Cocktail”. There is a path that gives you access to the 1Hotel Beach. Also, if you feel like some pampering the 1Hotel has a beautiful spa.Great location if you have some friends or family getting married at the 1Hotel.With over 30 windows there are beautiful views from every room in this house as well as fantastic trade breezes to keep you comfortable. The locals tell me that this is their favorite Villa in this complex.Don’t forget to visit the lovely Hanalei Town while you are here and stroll among the very unique collection of stylish shops and galleries. Hanalei Town also has many great restaurants. There are also rental shops in Hanalei from anything from surfboards, kayaks to bikes. The property is approximately 28 miles from Lihue airport on the north shore of Kauai. This is an excellent location to use as a home base on the north shore and is within 10 minutes from Hanalei and approximately 25 minutes from Ha'ena and the base of the Napali coast hiking trails. You will find convenient access to beaches less than one mile away from the condo including Anini and Hideway’s beach. The 1 Hotel Hanalie Bay resort (previously known as St. Regis) is located approximately 1 mile from The Plantation at Princeville and is an excellent location to grab a drink and watch the sun set over Bali Hai (currently under construction so the restaurant is not open). The Princeville shopping center is also less than a mile away where you will find a grocery store and several shops and restaurants. If you have small children you will find a community park and outdoor fitness equipment in the Princeville resort community just steps away from the Princeville shopping center. The community also has a jogging path which can be accessed just across the street from The Plantation at Princeville complex.AccommodationThis luxury property is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condominium and is a second floor unit with a lanai. This particular unit is located onthe exterior loop of The Plantation at Princeville and overlooks greenery and has a very small ocean view. It is the one if the most private units due to it's location within the complex! The Plantation at Princeville is one of the newer condo complexes in the Princeville resort community and offers unbeatable amenities for your use and enjoyment during your stay. The condominium complex has a community pool, impeccably maintained landscaping, a fitness facility and a business center.The condo is fully equipped to serve all of your living needs! We recently purchased the condo and during this year we will be putting in new furnishings and making cosmetic updates (the existing furnishings are all still very nice). Overall, the condo is in great condition and will is equipped with new linens, bedding, and other supplies! The living area includes a fully equipped kitchen, which can accommodate the best of chef's, a dining room table that will accommodate four and an eat-in kitchen with bar stools that can accommodate an additional four guests (currently three seats at the bar). The living area has a comfortable couch that you can sink into and a coffee table to prop up your feet at the end of a long day. The main living space opens onto a spacious lanai with comfortable patio furniture that can accommodate 8 guests. The main living area has air conditioning but honestly we prefer to turn on the ceiling fans and open all of the windows and take in the trade winds Hawaii is so famous for. Our condo has local phone service, basic cable television, Wi-Fi, high speed internet (we cannot guarantee connection as we are at the mercy of our internet provider, but the connection has been great thus far). You will also have the use of the garage and one parking space just outside the garage. We also have two surf boards, multiple boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, sand toys, one adult bike, 1 kids bike (age 6), and a beach cart for your use during your stay.The property has 3 bedrooms, the master bedroom has a king size bed, air conditioning and a ceiling fan and the master bathroom has two vanities, a large soaking tub/shower separate toilet facility and a large closet. The second bedroom has a king size bed, ceiling fan and an on suite bathroom which has a vanity and a shower/tub combination. The third bedroom has two twin beds, a ceiling fan and a bathroom which is a shared guest bathroom with a shower/tub combination and large vanity. The bedrooms are fully equipped with high quality luxury hotel quality bed linens and the bathrooms are equipped with excellent towels. We also provide high quality cabana towels for your use and enjoyment at the pool or local beaches. Linens and towels are inspected on a regular basis and are cycled frequently to ensure quality and comfort. You will also find a hair dryer in the master bathroom and an iron and ironing board in the twin bedroom closet.RecreationWhere do I start, there are so many wonderful things to do while on Kauai’s north shore. I have named a few of our favorite things to do below:Beaches - we absolutely love Hanalei Bay for the surfing and boogie boarding! Anini beach is fun for shell searching, we usually take the hiking trail (access near the Westin in Princeville). The hike is a bit steep at times so if you are not up for that you can always drive. Tunnels beach is in Ha'ena near the end of the road and is a 20 minute drive, this beach has great snorkeling and has a great view of Bali Hai. Hideway’s beach is also wonderful and is located about a mile away from the house, parking is limited, and there is a hike involved but once there you will enjoy this small secluded spot. Hiking - we love the Napali coast hike (Hanakapiai Falls), Stone Damn (Kilauea), Ho'opi'i Falls (Kapaa), Queens Bath (closed during winter months due to dangerous conditions), and Sleeping Giant (West of Wailua). For Napali Coast, you will find the trailhead at the end of the Kuhio highway (hwy 56) in Ha'ena state park (reservations required). Golf - Princeville is home to the Prince course and also the Makai golf club (across the street from The Plantation). Spa - spa treatments are plentiful at the Westin and 1 Hanalei Bay Resort (currently closed), both located within one mile of the plantation. Other - you may also consider a helicopter tour, boat tour, snorkeling tour, scuba diving, biking, horseback riding or renting a kayak/stand up paddle board. Our favorite excursion has been a small power boat or catamaran all day snorkel tour of the Na'pali Coast. Grocery Shopping:Costco- we also like to cook at home so we always stock up on essentials upon arrival. The KauaiCostco is about 10 minutes from the Lihue airport in the opposite direction so we usually stop in on our way to the condo after landing at the airport. Foodland - located in the Princeville shopping center, approximately one mile from the condo, you can pick up grocery items for your stay. Lappert's ice cream - grab yourself a sweet treat or treat the kids. Lappert's is located in the Princeville shopping center.
