I stayed one night at Hotel Chester in Starkville, Mississippi. I chose this hotel because it was just two blocks from the concert venue I was visiting. The two ladies I interacted with on separate occasions were polite and friendly; however, the rest of the stay left a lot to be desired. I sent an email to the hotel after my stay about these issues and since I received no response, I decided I should write a public review. I chose one of the upgraded Gordon Ramsey rooms simply because historic decor is not my thing and gives me an eery feeling (strange I know). The bedroom was fine other than mismatched nightstands. However, the bathroom was a different story. I regret that I did not take pictures to share. It was extremely dated, dingy, and dirty. The bathroom was not pictured in the listing of the more modern room for obvious reasons. The grout and caulking had pink and black stains and needed to be replaced, the toilet did not flush properly and the sink took forever to drain - you could brush your teeth and come back 15 min later and it was still draining. I was only there for a brief stay so there was no reason to address the issues; however, paying $192 for a room like this was laughable. In the morning there was a small table with bottled water and packaged muffins and pastries for the guests. I took my selections to-go. When I arrived at my next hotel, I opened the muffin and it was covered in green, fuzzy mold! I checked the expiration date and it had long since passed. I called the hotel to let them know so that others did not consume them and at that time, I also told the staff member about the plumbing problems. She thanked me and that is the last I heard from the hotel, despite my email voicing these concerns. I advise against staying at this hotel and would stay at one of the chain hotels about a mile away.
