But my stay was horrible! On the first night when I pulled the sheets back I notice hair in the bed. I walked to the front desk and asked if I could change rooms. The phone in my room didn't work. The front desk lady said she had to see it first. She came up and saw the hair then said the hotel was sold out and I could NOT move. Her solution was to bring me sheets to make the bed myself. So this was my first issue! Next, I turned on the shower but my phone rang. I was on the phone a while (15 - 20 minutes) and the next thing I know my room was filled with water on the floor. I get it was a handicap room but the shower should've been constructed at a slight angle so that wouldn't happen. This was issue number #2. I used the extra sheets to clean up the water. So now finally I'm ready to get in the shower. A dirty towel falls as soon as I pull the curtain close. I look up and it's another dirty towel hanging up on the rod. It was more of the same hair on the walls of the shower. This was issue #3. I returned to the front desk and it was finally a "good enough" reason for her to change my room. Honestly, the only reason I stayed is because I didn't have a car. My coworker is the one that had the rental car on her traveling orders. I didn't want to disturb her after a long day of travel. But this was my first and last time staying at your hotel!

We walked into the hotel and approached the front desk. A girl was working, she was looking at her phone. She gave us an annoyed hello, then continued on her phone for another minute. She finally set her phone done and checked us in. She was not rude, but was not friendly. Was not impressed by the initial experience. Once in our room I pulled back the covers on the bed and noticed something on the sheets. I called housekeeping and they immediately came and changed the bedding. The room was set at 74 degrees, we were not able to lower the temperature, as we wanted a cooler room for sleeping. Overall not impressed and would not return.

Really nice place. modern look. clean rooms. good food. nice snack selection. good location. I would recommend this place if you need something reasonably priced in a convenient location. Staff was really cool and the hotel was modern and clean

Great Value. Rooms are clean, breakfast is good. Coffee and Microwave available in the lobby 24 hours a day. They even have a pool table in the lobby that guests can use at no charge. Swimming pool is nice and heated. Super friendly staff always pleasant to talk to.

I had high hopes for Tru by Hilton at Sterling Heights because the location was ideal and I had family in Sterling Heights I wanted to visit. Sadly, the experience quickly went downhill when I checked in. Is hospitality a thing of the past? Shouldn't all Hiltons aspire to the same level of hospitality? Never mind that I wasn't greeted as a loyal customer as some of us expect when we check into any Hilton establishment. I mean a smile or a simple word like "Welcome" really isn't too much to ask. If you're working in a hotel, that should just be a given. Are hotel workers no longer trained in the most basic level of hotel hospitality? Shame on the house of Hilton for not recognizing these most basic things. Never mind that a basic continental breakfast for Diamond members or Gold members was not made available. Never mind that I had to be sent driving across the highway to Bob Evans because breakfast was not an option unless you wanted to shell out $15 for breakfast at a place that's not even a three star hotel. My own damn fault for not doing my research and reading all these scathing reviews on this one location alone in Tripadvisor. Just because Tru by Hilton is meant for the budget conscious traveler doesn't mean that your staff have license to be unfriendly and not treat loyal customers with the same common courtesy that any weary traveler deserves. If Hilton corporate people are reading this, please, please give the staff at Tru by Hilton at Sterling Heights some basic training in common courtesy. My experience at this establishment makes me question whether I should remain a Hilton Honors member.

My stay was Sept 28th thru Oct 1st. This hotel didn't meet the standard of what I'm used to. No microwave no drawers for clothes. The bed was comfortable. The customer service was pleasant. I won't be back.

Overall, we were not even close to being impressed by this hotel. It was a first time stay for me at a Tru, and maybe that brand just isn’t for me. Pros: - HUGE room, great bed and pillows. Cons: - Window shades in the room (both) were broken so (wouldn’t go up) we spent the entire afternoon and evening with all the lights on because it is a dark room. We reported this to the desk - nobody arrived to even attempt to fix the problem - We booked a handicapped room as my mother is elderly and is unable to step into a bathtub to shower. While the shower did have a bench, there was nothing surrounding the shower (a long drain that surrounds the shower area I’ve seen at more upscale hotels). This meant the entire bathroom flooded creating a slip and fall accident waiting to happen. - Also with the shower,the shower head was at one end of the area and the bench at the other making it impossible to sit and shower. And while there was a hand-held shower wand near the bench, it was broken (just fell out of the wand holder) making it impossible for a 92 year old to utilize. - Sleep - or the lack thereof! Kids running up and down the hallway on the floor above. The desk clerk seemed very disinterested. Also the room directly above had what sounded like 10 kids running, jumping off the bed and just being very loud until 4:00 AM. Again - the desk clerk seemed disinterested. Nothing was ever done. - The pool is pretty small and overrun with kids…I lost count at 28 young kids with ONE ADULT! I would think that the hotel would keep an eye on something like that occurring so that there is no accidental drowning. - The pool is directly across from the elevators, making the elevator floor super slippery because they are always wet. - Not the fault of the hotel - but there was a party in the parking lot until 4:30 AM (probably the parents of all the kids playing in the room above ours). And even though I do not blame any hotel employee for not going out in the parking lot to break up a party, the disinterested clerk could have called the non-emergency police to help him get the noise under control. Just because of this one night, I will never book at another Tru Hotel again.

The pillows are the fluffiest I ever felt! Staff is very friendly and accommodating and hotel is beautiful inside and out! Couldn’t ask for a better hotel, this is by far number one in my book. My family had a blast. Thank you for all you did!
