Best Western Stoke on Trent City Centre Hotel

Stayed here a few times over the last couple of months. bit dubious at first when I found my company had booked me in here after seeing some of the negative reviews. Check in was painless except for the standard "we need to take a swipe of your credit card" I did this the first time I stayed but after I found it was well over a week for the money taken (which I wasnt told about) to be returned I refused a second time. A tip here... say incidentals will be on a pay as you go basis, then there is no need for a credit card swipe. Food wise, evening meal in the bar, decent portions at a reasonable price, two courses and a drink for less than £20, other establishments please take note. Breakfast good value as an all you can eat basis. Rooms, maybe in need of some TLC but I have stayed in a lot worse for a lot more money Decent wifi signal Carparking at £7.50 per night for a town / city centre its not the cheapest but it certainly isnt the most expensive. Easy to find and not too far from where I needed to be. Would I again, .... Yes

A very satisfying stay - more like a 4 than a 3 star. Asked a first floor room - got it. Very large amount of room space. Bargain price. In house health facility only £5 for 2 hours included gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna.

I visited the “Best” Western with a group of friends whilst on a trip to Alton Towers, but soon realised I’d have been better off sleeping in the car. I didn’t have high expectations for this establishment at all after reading some of the chronic reviews written by previous visitors. A lot of people choose to ignore the poor reviews and focus more on the positives when booking a hotel. My advice to you is, don’t be like other people. Read the bad reviews. Their very true. Upon arrival, after paying the steep parking charge, I regretfully checked into the hotel which appeared to be clean and tidy in the reception area. It’s a shame the rest of the hotel wasn’t as well presented. It was clear that the hotel had experienced an uplift, but only on the 1st and 2nd floor. The 3rd floor was atrocious. It was almost as if they had run out of money half way through their “huge” revamp. Discoloured green carpet greeted you as you entered the third floor. Followed by random pieces of furniture cluttering the hallway in an attempt to make the hotel more “cosy”. What a design flaw that was. The room itself was terrible. It stunk. The doors and walls were all a discoloured white. Almost as if a group of smokers had been trapped in there. There was some sort of red stain on my radiator, which was disgusting. Followed by some sort of black mould on the bath tub. The shower curtain was brown along the bottom. The worst part was the view out of the window. Overlooking the roof of the reception building which was extremely dirty and covered in litter was definitely not the highlight of my trip. The only thing which was clean in the slightest was the bed. Which I slept on top of. Don’t get fooled by the pool either. One of the main “selling points” was not open when I visited. Perhaps it was a good thing, because if it was in the same state as the rooms, I wouldn’t be going anywhere near it. My main advice to you is, pay the little extra and visit the premier inn down the road. It least you’ll get something decent for your money there. Highlight of my trip was checking out. If hotel management do decide to read this review. I really hope you take this on board and sort out the state of your rooms. Get some cleaners that actually prioritise the cleanliness of the rooms, because multiple people have left reviews about the horrible mess you charge people to sleep in. Many thanks.

Here I’m leaving a excellent review as I recently stayed at the Best Western Hotel City. Every member of staff I come across were amazing they couldn’t do enough always had a smile on there face and were always polite. Food was delicious also. Rooms were clean and tidy to a high standard. Would definetly recommend and return! Thank you to all staff members for making our staff perfect.

There always seems to be a problem getting in and out of this hotel - room was not ready again. This is now 3 visits in a row. Additionally, this time there was no-one to check us out. The rooms are generally pretty good for what you pay. However, we have experienced poor cleanliness on two occasions. Sick in the bathroom and left underwear.!!!

The check in was easy and very helpful with all questions answered! The staff and management team were very polite and helpful during our stay, they went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a perfect stay in a good location ! The room was immaculate and modern with very good facilities. Very comfortable bed which is rare with city hotels so we were extremely pleased with this, we also used the leisure centre which was very clean and tidy! Breakfast was buffet style and there was a very good variety to choose from which was constantly topped up with fresh items so there was never any chance of running low. Check out was just as easy as check in! I cannot fault this hotel one bit, thankful you to all the staff and we will hopefully be back again soon.
