The George & Dragon Hotel

We stayed in the Georgian Suite which was a massive surprise to me! Apparently, I got it quite cheap! Absolutely lovely. It was an annexe from the main pub and was just luxurious. The pub was lovely - good ales and the people we met there were fantastic. I could not recommend this more. Oh, the breakfast was great too, just a little too much for me. Thank you, Charlie and your staff.

My partner and I have stayed in long melford at another hotel down the road many times ,but thought this time we would have a change and give here a try .we had been driving for 6hours so thought we would book here ,I used my debit card not a problem all went through.on arrival we were welcomed by a young woman to be then asked she needed a credit card to book in ,we thought she was joking no she said you need a credit card but I don't have one ,she said anyone's will do ,we were so shocked ,we were then told we couldn't stay ,so after a 6 hour drive we had to find another hotel .we were told it's in the very small print .Never heard of this ,after reading the reviews glad I didnt stay .

Booked our wedding here which was confirmed and deposit paid. Proprietor has since cancelled claiming venue had been double booked. Not what I’d expect from a wedding venue. Must be difficult to double book if you have any sort of simple diary system in place. Only suggestion from them was that we change everything else we had booked to a day that suited them and maybe then they could offer some sort of compensation. No thank you, trust gone and what’s the likely hood of everyone being able to meet the new date. More costs to us to change already booked services. No compensation offered for the inconvenience and proprietor doesn’t respond to emails now. Shame to have to leave a negative review due to no effort made to compensate. Couldn’t recommend based on lack of customer care.

Had my uncles 80th birthday here 24 people to celebrate, the food,ambience and staff were lovely, bar area good . But accomodation very tired looking , the hotel had heating issues on arrival to which they told us , had to all get ready in one room (8 of us ) , said issues would be sorted , most were , but our room no electric only main light worked, heating didn't TV , power points , could not use kettle , bitterly cold to . You need to deep clean rooms and freshen up as upstairs really lets this lovely place down , I shall not be returning or recommending the accommodation..

This is a pub with a screen for watching sports and there music at night so as to set the scene. It is the same price as The Bull in Long Melford and I have stayed at both so here is a little bit of help to the owners. Refurb your rooms a bit. Toilet burped at night so probably a broken macerator, carpet in bathroom isn’t a good idea, only one pillow, mattress hard, bed rickety. The priority is to fix the outside back door which you can push open without a key. So anyone can walk in out of the street if they chance it and be outside the bedroom doors in a jiffy. Staff need to really care for their guests’ comfort or at least look and sound like they do. This isn’t a high end hotel so don’t be officious. Your first word to guests should feel like a welcome and ‘yes we can’. I know you guys can do it and I will stay again in the future .. just to check you have 😁 Lovely breakfast!!

Hotel rooms were OK, but main light didnt work, but the bedside lamps did. Our travelling companions had the opposite. Beds could have done with replacing as a bit rickety. Breakfast was the fun part being moved FOUR times. We sat on one table only to be told it was reserved (Despite no sign to show this). So we moved into a table in the bar area & went to get coffee. We returned to find another couple sat there, so we went to another table. We were then invited to sit at the original table in the restaurant area only to be then told after moving it was in fact reserved so we went back to the table we had just been moved from. Breakfast itself was very nice, but despite specifically requesting one without beans, he still came out with one with. So I had to wait again while my partner ate for him to return with one without. It later transpired that the table was reserved for a 'regular' customer. Which as they pay the same as everyone else should not be given preferential tratment to the detriment of other guests. I wont be returning
