Secrets Sunny Beach Resort and Spa - Premium All Inclusive - Adults Only

First visit to a RIU hotel, went there with high expectations and initially we weren’t disappointed. Hotel is beautiful, location and views are amazing and the accommodation couldn’t be faulted. For us however, that’s where the plus points finished. We visited two of restaurants on site, the main Black Sea restaurant and the Steakhouse restaurant. The food served in the Black Sea restaurant varied in quality on a daily basis, and there was a disappointingly limited selection of local foods available, however if you wanted chips with nearly every meal then happy days. One good point was the variety of salads available, the food served at lunchtimes in the Steakhouse restaurant was again patchy and the all inclusive element was leftovers served from the coffee bar in reception. The one evening meal we had in the Steakhouse restaurant was ok, nothing better than that, 3 courses with limited choice and served alarmingly quickly. Hotel was advertised as serving premium international drinks, first drink I asked for was Southern Comfort, this was met with blank faces. Selection of drinks was very poor, local spirits were served unless we insisted on a branded drink. The cocktails were made in a blender, not a cocktail shaker in sight and the amount of ice used in cocktails was mind boggling. My wife asked for a Martini Rossi on one occasion, the barman disappeared with an empty Martini Rossi bottle, reappeared with the same bottle just over half full and proceeded to pour my wife’s drink, turned out to be Port. On another occasion in the show bar, a member of staff cleared our table and asked if we’d like further drinks. We told him what drinks we wanted, he disappeared and we next saw him about 10 minutes later wondering around outside looking at his phone. Majority of staff were less than helpful, service was very slow unless they were clearing our table. Getting a drink refill was painful and done reluctantly. Staff also had a very unpleasant habit of hawking (clearing their throats) in earshot of diners, not a pleasant sound when you’re eating. Staff were constantly using their mobile phones in restaurant and bar areas, and one female member of bar staff was in the habit of sitting on the the actual bar in the pool. The swimming pools were incredibly inviting but unbelievably and disappointingly cold, including the jacuzzi. We braved the indoor pool on a couple occasions and waded through to the poolside bar but there were limited tables in the sun. Evening entertainment was limited to 2 evenings in a week, neither evening was great. Best entertainment was the thunderstorm on the Thursday night. We visited the neighbouring hotel for one evening, another RIU hotel. This was family friendly, the drinks were worse than RIH Palace and bingo was the entertainment. Also, the neighbouring hotel started playing ear splittingly loud music every day at 10am. We strolled into Sunny Beach on a couple of occasions, not somewhere I’d choose to spend a

Does not deserve a 5 star rating in my opinion, we arrived towards the end of the season and lots of tours had finished for the season, there was no entertainment or activities to do at the hotel other than swim in a cold pool eat, drink or have a massage, food is good but not amazing. On the plus side the staff have been fantastic friendly and gave great service the rooms were clean and lobby bar area was good

Lovely hotel ,clean and spotless with lovely pools and the beach right on the edge . Nice food BUT the entertainment is poor and the staff are nice but not really that engaging .compared to the staff at most of the other places I've been too there guys left a little to be desired . Dont get me wrong they do their job but thats it. We've stayed at alot of 5 Star hotels around the world and this was by far the worst service we've come across. For that reason alone I will not be coming back .

A really good hotel with a nice vibe to it. Waiting on staff are excellent and really look after you. The restaurants are extremely good and the quality of the food is very high. Can’t fault the choices available. The rooms are massive and very clean. Only fault so far( and we are still here) is the lifts, one minute all working and then only two are functioning, can get a bit crowded. Loads of sunbeds to use, well it is September I suppose. Having a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. Would return

This holiday was perfect! Perfectly clean, perfect food, perfect staff, perfect pool, perfect cocktails and branded drinks. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our A/C was capped at 21° however this was not a problem for us. The steak house set menu was delicious. The bulgarian restaurant that you can book in the sister hotel next door was very rustic but again, delicious. The pool was cleaned every day and lifeguards are always present whilst the pool is open between 8am to 6pm, they take their jobs seriously and also monitor any unwanted behaviour and deal with it appropriately. The cocktails are delicious and we even had some personalised ones. The bar staff, Georgi, Valio, Vasko, Borislava, Costa & Petar treated us so well we were sad to leave. Waitress Geri was fabulous, her English is impeccable! The young lady working in the food section named Aneela (not sure I've spelled that right) was an absolute angel helping me with my dietary requirements at breakfast EVERYDAY except for one day off where she ensured someone else would be on hand to help. Lots to do on the beach and Nessebar is worth a visit, the leather products are beautiful and really cheap. We got a taxi from a local guy named Angel who gave us advice about where to go and where to eat. We have tried to book to return next year but I understand the hotel is changing hands. As soon as we are able we will book again. I cannot recommend this place enough...I stayed in plenty of all inclusive but this was definitely THE BEST!

It’s not true what is says food is dirty cats in dinner hall no cocktails snacks are only pizza chips same food every day and cold toaster broken pool bit ok rooms are small near all amenities and beach nice walk not a lot of English beautiful from out side hotel small lift if u have phobia if you have small spaces never coming back to this hotel I wouldn’t give a star at all the staff just stand around and plates left on table for ages no knifes so had to use two forks to eat paid to much money for what it is

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, everything is such a high standard and so modern. People moaning about the air con.. yes it doesn’t go lower than around 22c but more than bearable but you have to keep your balcony doors shut for it to work! Always sun beds available and doesn’t really matter where you get it around the pool as all really nice areas. Cocktails are gorgeous I recommend the daiquiri and the pina colada! Lots of drinks available and all pretty much branded too. Very clean. Very helpful and nice staff. Food is lovely and very varied. There’s water sports to do just down the beach. Towels are available by the pool. The beds are so comfy and the rooms and balcony are huge. I’d say the only disappointment is it was our honeymoon and we were asked about that so we expected something and nothing but literally doesn’t matter as we had the most amazing stay. The place is really well looked after, the sun beds are cleaned etc. Would definitely come back.

First stay in a riu palace adults only hotel. Fantastic staff food accommodation and first class service. Totally spoilt. Luxurious and affordable, would recommend and give 5 stars for an absolutely faultless experience.

Going to start with the only negative of the holiday. The AC is centrally controlled and the hotel manager refused to put the AC under 21C. After a rather heated conversation with him, excuse the pun, he said that he can turn the AC down but won’t due to EU law which is absolute rubbish. If this was the case, then all hotels in the EU are breaking the law. No fans available either. If you’re a hot sleeper like myself, this hotel might not be for you or if you like to be hot then you’ll be fine. You can buy a fan from Janet’s Supermarket which is around 25 minute walk away. We did this and it certainly helped at night. Just a note to the manager, buy some fans so guests can be comfortable at night. This is the same for all rooms in the hotel. This is the only reason I’m not giving a 5 star review. Ok, so moving onto the positives! The hotel is absolutely stunning, the rooms are massive and all have sea views, try and get a higher floor for better views. The mini fridge is stocked daily, the shower room is large where you’ve got plenty of space to put your things. In room safe within the wardrobe. The room is cleaned daily but sheets not changed. The rooms look like they do in the pictures, really impressed. The gym was good, had the essentials and opened at 8. I used it most days. Pool and beach area: plenty of sun loungers and the hotel was full, no need to get up early to reserve your bed. The beach was a little busier but always got a bed when we wanted one. The beach is private to the hotel which is great. The pool was a huge, it had a swim up bar in the bottom one. The middle one was the longest and had nice submerged loungers at each end. People have said that it was a little cold, yes it was a little chilly getting in but it was really nice. Food and drink. All meals were fantastic, zero complaints, I was really impressed. Lots of choice. My partner is super picky and he was happy. We ate at the Al a Carte restaurants, both worth a visit. Other guest went to the neighbouring restaurants and came back with mixed reviews, so we didn’t bother, was happy with the food on site. All drinks in the restaurant was with table service, you can help yourself to soft drinks. Never a wait either, plenty of staff. The drinks were also great! They had usual branded spirits such as Gordons, Absolute etc, just need to ask for it but there was no issues in doing so. They also made off menu cocktails as long as they had the ingredients. All staff were fantastic (save for the disagreement with the manager). They all went the extra mile for you. All very friendly and polite. They seemed to enjoy where they worked with is fab to see. The other guests on site were again lovely, we met a couple from Sunderland, Devon, Belgium, Norway and a mother and daughter from London, we all had a great time together and was great to be part of a proposal! Congratulations again! The local area was ok, we went for a couple walks and it was clear that this hote
