This hotel was a massive disappointment. It is not cheap to stay here so one would expect satisfactory hotel standards. There are so many cons to this hotel that one should think twice before deciding to stay here, especially if you are staying more than 2 nights. The only positive aspect is the fact that the hotel is situated above Taipei Main Station which makes it convenient to travel on the MRT, TRA, High Speed Train and to the Taoyuan International Airport.
The CONS are as follows:
1. Check in is at 4pm which is quite late compared to other Taiwan Hotels which is normally at 3pm.
2. Housekeeping. Despite on their website stating that there is daily housekeeping to ensure guests' comfort, this is certainly not the case. Housekeeping is upon
request and only includes changing of towels. Cleaning of bathrooms, changing bed linen, making of bed, and changing of tea cups are NOT included. This is really unacceptable as these should be basic hotel standards. We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights believing that hotel standards would apply as indicated on their website. We were only made aware of this when we addressed our concerns at Reception. We were told that changing of bed sheets would occur every three days but this did not happen at all. Frustrated with this situation, we approached Reception again where we were told that the hotel only change towels. We told Reception that clearly their website is misleading, and if we had been aware of this, we would not have booked this hotel. We also mentioned about the cleanliness of the hotel room. When we entered our room, there was a strong urine smell coming from the bathroom. We mentioned this twice before something was eventually done. Though the room was aired out for 30 minutes, the smell remained. We decided to clean the bathroom floor ourselves, and to our disgust, found hair, tissues and a bar of soap left from previous guests. We took a photo of this. It is obvious that the bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned before the arrival of new hotel guests. We told Reception that the bathroom is dirty from the time we checked in, and the response by the male worker, was unacceptable, questioning us if we were telling the truth. We showed him the photo of all the hair and soap that was left. However, when we returned to our room later in the evening, we were shocked to find that housekeeping did not remove the hair and soap. Hotel guests' concerns should be addressed and rooms should be thoroughly cleaned.
3. Service - this hotel lacks the service and hospitality befitting of a hotel. Reception is not friendly, especially if you raise concerns. As hotel guests, you should be made to feel welcomed and encouraged to seek assistance, and not feel awkward to approach them. Reception is the first thing that sets the tone of the hotel.
4. No complimentary water bottles and tea and coffee. Considering the hotel rates that they are charging, these should be included.
5. For guests staying more than three nights, concessions should be made to having guest rooms thoroughly cleaned. Guests should feel comfortable in a clean room.
I would not recommend this hotel. It is one of the worst hotels I have stayed at.
