Motu Beachfront Art Villas

Motu villas are as lovely as all the reviews describe. We were here for 5 days and really enjoyed our time. The welcome package and shuttle to the supermarket on our first day were invaluable. Highlights for me were snorkelling with giant trevally on a day trip and seeing a giant turtle when snorkelling not far from the villa. Charlie’s is really good for a meal and for a more upmarket meal little Polynesian.

We’ve just returned from seven magical days at Motu Art Villas. The villas are modern, spotless and perfectly equipped with everything you need for a most luxurious stay. The view from the villa and its private deck was sublime. We think Motu is position on the most beautiful beach in Rarotonga. Just steps from the lagoon, we spent our days lazing on our private deck, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddling and soaking in the beautiful lagoon. You can do all these things no matter what the tide which is not always true at other locations. The resort pool is lovely, with an amazing honestly bar, it’s sheltered from the wind if necessary, but we didn’t spend much time there as the lagoon is so inviting. Did I mention the view!! On arrival we were very grateful to receive an initial supply of goodies, eggs, bread, butter, cheese, biscuits, milk, beautiful fresh fruit, bubbles and beer. With a full sized fridge and hob for cooking as well as a bbq in the pool area, it’s very easy to self cater, though a quick walk down the beach and you have excellent options for dining including Little Poly and Charlies both very different, these were two of our favourites. We hired a car which was great for exploring other areas of beautiful Rarotonga, Motu offer free e-bikes to get around the island. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at Motu, a special mention to Mii for helping with restaurant bookings and recommendations. Seven days was not long enough, we will definitely be returning, but next time will book for longer. Please don’t change a thing!! Thank you Motu, Mii, Lucy, Alex and all the staff!!

Highly recommend Motu Villas. Small place with only 11 villas, it is very peaceful, and an amazing location right on the beach with amazing snorkelling and sea life straight off the beach. All the staff are super friendly. Thanks to Lucile, Tim & Mii, who were happy for a chat any time. Our villa was very spacious with separate bedroom, and fully equipped kitchen. We had fresh fruit, bread, eggs, milk, butter, jam & honey provided on our arrival. We grabbed some supplies in Avarua CITC supermarket and that was our breakfast/lunch sorted for the week. Hired a car for a few days and also got the bus a few times. Walking distance to Little Polynesian, Moana Sands & Charlies for dinner. Borrowed the e-bikes and biked around the island one day (32km) – well worth it. Lovely pool & self-service bar. Will definitely come back here!

Pre-arrival communication excellent, transfer from airport painless, villa as comfortable as promised ......and the view! Arrived late at night, greeted next morning by glorious lagoon just steps from the verandah. Comfortable loungers and good selection of paddleboards kayaks etc. Villa is self catering only - two or three restaurants within 15 min walk otherwise reliant on a pretty small supermarket 10 mins drive away. Absolutely exceptional accommodation, environment, services, from the first minute we felt like we were in paradise here, very friendly and helpful staff, always smiling. We have never encountered such a combination of everything before. The welcome breakfast was great.

5 star resort all the way. Everything about the villa and staff is perfect. Villa is as per photos. Great welcome food and drink all set up in the fridge. Daily Cook Islands news paper. Beach is perfect with plenty of kayaks or SUP to grab anytime. 24 X 7 pool side bar (honesty system). Walk to one bar or easy drive to heaps of restaurants and bars. Even a friendly resort cat.
