The Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa has beautiful, new facilities and aims for a five-star experience, but the service is still developing. I encountered an issue with the air conditioning, and the staff was dishonest about fixing it, leading to an upgrade only after a significant complaint. The breakfast was very good, and the Italian restaurant deserves compliments to the chef for its excellent food. The bakery is nice, but the staff strangely wouldn't allow me to order a burger from the restaurant next door. It might be a good idea for the General Manager to be more visible, perhaps making an appearance during breakfast, lunch, and dinner to interact with guests and get a better sense of the hotel's operations. While the resort has potential, the inconsistent service and the oddity with the bakery/burger situation need attention to truly live up to its five-star rating.
