If you’re reading this you’re considering a stay in Buckingham Place. Don’t waste your time with these reviews - book it now, book if for sooner than you planned, book it for longer and let yourself be blown away by the level of service and stunning surroundings. This is a 5* hotel with all the charm of a luxury boutique hotel whilst being warm, welcoming and unpretentious. We stayed for our honeymoon and ended up extending our stay as we loved it so much. Never been much of a beach dweller but Buckingham place allows you to truly switch off. Waking up to the lagoon and lying on the Indian Ocean through the day. The place is a menagerie with peacocks, monkeys and mongooses trotting around the property - amazing to watch their routine from the terraces. The team led by Madu, Kalpa and Chamindu couldn’t do enough for you, whilst not being overbearing but preempting your every need with minimal fuss. Just heaven. The owner Nick and his lovely dogs Bella and Gracie gave the place a homely feel and their love of Sri Lanka was infectious. The food was excellent and a great balance of local and European food and the team were so accommodating of any dietary preferences. Especially enjoyed my spa treatments- definitely factor this in to your stay.

Highly recommend place for a memorable stay. Kind staff with great service and hospitality. They provide the service in high standards and they are very much attentive to the guests. They make you surprise with lovely memories at your special events. Very delicious freshly cooked meals with authentic taste. Lovely rooms with all facilities and large area.

Our second time visiting and loving this utterly fabulous unique boutique hotel! Everything from the setting to the location is perfect! Nothing, absolutely nothing is too much trouble and every member of the excellent staff give 100% to looking after you and making you feel wanted, part of their lives and in every moment looked after and valued to such a fabulous level! They make me smile inwardly and outwardly and the pleasure they generate is just .. well just exquisite! You are engaged with on every single level. Room staff / garden staff / stewards / leads absolutely everyone work tirelessly to seamlessly make your stay extra special. What do I love most? Everything! The resident dogs Gracie B and Bella even welcome you (Well when Gracie B warms to you). The rooms are spotless. The bathrooms are unique and I adore the open roof touch that even when a rainfall comes adds to the specialness of this place! The Spa is likewise a fabulous moment in this extraordinary place! Thank you all so very much!! We are coming back and are privileged to be now called regulars! We love it!!!

Unfortunately our return trip to Buckingham Place was one we should of missed, pack out breakfasts which consisted of an apple and an orange, meal orders which constantly were wrong or late and new years evening was definitely one to miss. The accommodation was however clean.

We stayed here as part of our trip via Rickshaw Travel/Heritage expediciones for 5 nights. The thing that stood out at this hotel was the amazing staff and atmosphere. It wasn't your typical boutique hotel that concentrates on style alone. It has a vibrant and welcoming feel and the service was first class. The staff were friendly and Nick the owner made you feel part of the family as soon as you arrived. If you wanted to be left to yourself that was not a problem either but if you needed anything it was not a problem and always done with a smile. It was my birthday while I was there and my husband arranged a number of surprises on the day with the help of Kalpa that made the day all the more special. The room (standard) was comfortable with a large bathroom including shower and bathtub and balcony. The breakfast menu was extensive and included lighter options (such as fruit and toast) as well as good mains. We also ate here in the evening and the menu varied daily and had a selection of meat, fish, veggie dishes. We also had a massage while we were here (arranged as part of our trip) which was fantastic. We aren't generally people who go back to the same hotel/resort but think we might be making this the exception to that!

We stayed for six nights in a Lagoon View Family Bedroom suite at Buckingham Place. We loved every minute and since returning home we are still reminiscing! What a hotel…from the beautiful complimentary Italian coffee delivered to our room once we woke to the enjoyable dining experience each night. The food is really the best and it comes with outstanding service. Nothing is ever a problem! We came to rest and we did just that…lazed by the pool and listened to the sounds of the sea and nature. It really would be a dream to return. Thank you to Nick, Kalpa and the team.

What a beautiful hotel. The owner Nick is very welcoming and the entire are all fabulous! They are all very attentive and helpful. As a beauty therapist and ex massage therapist, I had the 1.5hour Aryuvedic Massage and it was the best massage I have ever had! Thank you. Even after falling ill for one day I still enjoyed my stay and was well looked after. As an Aussie, I definitely value the beach and what a beach/coast Nick's hotel sits on! A little added bonus are Nick's dogs. Bella joined us on our morning walk. Thank you all, hopefully see you again 😁

Stay here for longer than you intend! We enjoyed an unforgettable 9 night stay over Xmas in this most wonderful gem of an hotel in a breathtaking setting with hospitality and service that surpassed our expectations. The warmth, friendliness and efficiency from everyone was truly outstanding. It’s the kind of place you can check out from but you can never leave. The level of service surpasses most 5* hotels by far. Stunning grounds, glorious pools, wildlife galore, delicious food, lovely rooms. What’s not to like?! It doesn’t really get any better than this. The invitation is to truly kick back and enjoy yourselves. The beach in front is absolutely stunning with the thunderous roar of the crashing waves. We did an amazing day trip to Udawalawe park. A pleasure chatting to Nick the owner and wishing you a speedy recovery. Your Place is amazing and can’t wait to return. Thanks to Kalpa, Madu and all the staff 🙏

We stayed at Buckingham Place for the last 5 days of our nearly 4 week travels around Sri Lanka. The rest of our trip had been pretty budget, so we decided to splash out and spoil ourselves at the end. Buckingham Place exceeded our expectations in all ways. Rooms are spaced out in the gorgeous grounds, ensuring peace and quiet and privacy. They're well appointed, very spacious and beautifully clean. The bed was comfy and the open air bathroom was a cool feature. Staff are quietly attentive, anticipating what you need, whether it be a foot stool for your feet, another drink, or a fresh towel for your poolside lounger. We had breakfast provided as part of our deal - a lovely variety of choice, so we worked our way through the menu. The dinner menu was of a high standard and changed nightly, with both Sri Lankan and European/fusion choices, so the food also become one of the highlights of our stay. The pool is gorgeous, the swim up bar well tended and all in all, we couldn't fault our stay. Well worth the cost for a relaxing, pampered time. Buckingham Place sits at the crossroads of friendly, personalized luxury and owner Nick and his team do it very well. Thank you for my little birthday celebration, too, guys! Irene & Mike, NZ
