Taunton Central (North)

Very poor. I would not recommend to anyone. The strong smell of mould made it very difficult to fall asleep. And it wasn’t just a one room situation. The same smell was also in my friend’s room, so that’s definitely something that the hotel is well aware of, but to shut down the hotel for full refurbishment it won’t be money wise. Better poor service and low ratings than no money at all. We also wanted to have dinner there, went in, it was just us at 7pm in the evening, which we found a bit dodgy. We sat at a table, checked the menus and then we understood why no one is there. Very limited choices. So we ended up eating dinner somewhere else in town. Breakfast was included, however we had to wait a while for bread and eggs to be back on for serving. Overall, very unsatisfied. I won’t recommend or ever gonna stay here before, as I don’t think it will be sorted too soon.

Had an overnight stop and it was ace.Staff were very helpful and Leticia on reception bent over backwards to help us on a birthday night out and she delivered us a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the day too ROOM WAS EXCELLENT AND BED COMFORTABLE Breakfast was top drawer and filling and all items of a good quality. I certainly will be going back.

Mum and I used this hotel while visiting Taunton to watch cricket. It is just a short taxi journey to Somerset County Cricket Club. From the moment we arrived. and throughout our stay, all the staff were really friendly, kind and helpful to us. The food was great, and our beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Turned up after driving hours 10:30pm - quick check in, walked to room to fine only the double bed was made up. My two sons had no beds out nor made up. One towel between 4 of us. Luckily the lady on reception was kind to make our beds up even though her shift was nearly finished. Got told to go reception and ask for towels when we needed them. The room smelt of stale water.

The rooms are ridiculously hot and the air does not circulate even with two fans. Worst sleep. Waking up drenched in sweat and not even using a cover to sleep. The window does not open enough. The hallway/corridor was cooler than the room!?

The fact that you have to be ‘buzzed’ in - tells you all about the security situation at the hotel! Once inside, the rooms are small, with no aircon - so stifling for weeks after a ‘heat wave’. The restaurant next door has closed down… so although you can have breakfast and dinner - it’s like a building site with the bar all covered up after the debt recovery agency have stripped out the features. There is no longer any soft play. There was only us and one other table at breakfast, so food wasn’t ‘replaced’. As regular visitors to Taunton - this moves to the bottom of our preference for future visits.
