Travelodge Hotel - Taunton

Housekeeping has loud music playing whilst they cleaned which woke me up very early, shower wouldn’t stay a constant temperature and was going from freezing to boiling, was definitely not worth £80, avoid at all costs

This hotel is a shared use hotel. It’s is extremely outdated and very dirty! Our room smelt of cigarettes and had a very musky old smell. It was very unclean! Stains on the bed and curtains, the net had been al ripped and torn. There was a toe nail clipping and lots of other dirt on the chair. The bed had hair and other random marks on it. The bath room was just as filthy. We swapped rooms and was welcomed by the exactly the same! Travelodge’s are usually very modern and clean! I stayed in two in London this week and they were amazing! Definitely avoid this place at all costs! We left and stayed at the holiday inn! A short walk away! Which was amazing for the same price!

The hotel is situated just off the M5. The rooms are spacious and clean however if the temperature outside is hot then please be warned the rooms do not have air con. The only way to cool the room is to have the windows open however with warm temperatures outside the rooms do not get cooler leaving to a very sleepless night. The hotel does provide a small fan for circulating the already warm air but when reception was asked if they had any spare fans was told they operate a one fan per room policy. I did explain that my daughter was poorly and needed the extra ventilation they confirmed the policy however they did find an extra fan but this really didn’t provide the cooling required it only circulated the warm heat in the room.

I have used many Travelodge hotels and would recommend, however, the Taunton hotel is also being used for housing families/individuals for social services and this is not advised when booking. I appreciate that these people need somewhere to stay, however they treat it like 'home' and are constantly moving from their rooms to go outside for a smoke and standing in the corridors talking. So the banging of doors and voices means we did not have a very restful nights sleep. Please advise at the time of booking that the hotel is a shared use and we can choose whether to spend our money.

Stayed here last minute, booked online nice and easy, car parking included. Pub next to hotel closed at 4:30 on a Sunday so beware if arriving later. Room was basic, but clean, as with every budget hotel atm lots of "residents" staying and hanging around outside smoking not a pleasant entrance to walk though.

Having stayed at the Travelodge site quite a few times for work, this stay was up there with the best! Peter, the new hotel manager, made me feel very welcome on check in. The room was very clean and very spacious and has all the things you could need such as a kettle and a good amount of tea and coffee, with more available from reception. I look forward to coming back!
