The Woolpack Hotel

We hired the Woolpack barn for our wedding in Sept 2024 and we are so happy that we did! We had the most INCREDIBLE time. Everything went so smoothly thanks to Charlie, Duane and the whole team at the Woolpack. The venue is a beautiful English barn, conveniently positioned in the centre of Tenterden town meaning guests could arrange accommodation nearby and it’s within walking distance of the church where we had our ceremony. We had full flexibility with decorating the barn which we were able to do the day before. It didn’t need much as the barn/venue itself has a lot of character which we loved! Charlie recommended Village Vintage Hire who we hired the rustic banquet tables and chairs from for 90 people. These worked well in the barn, matching the vibe. As local wedding venues go, we were so impressed with the price of the venue hire and the food and wine packages available, there's a lot of flexibility with your choice of food and drink depending on the size/ style of your wedding. There was no hire fee meaning it was more than reasonably priced for the quality of food, wine, and service we received. The food and wine was delicious!! Charlie hosted a food and wine tasting before the wedding and we chose a three-course wedding breakfast. They accommodated our guests’ dietaries very well. We loved the food, especially the vegetarian options including a delicious truffle mushroom risotto. Massive thanks to the head chef and kitchen team! The wine went down really well too. We opted for the indulgent drinks package with the Leslie Reserve Gold Brut for our toast. There is a great garden area next to the barn where we had our reception drinks and canapés on arrival. The festoon lighting looked very pretty in the evening too. There is also a brilliant climbing frame for kids which kept our flower girls entertained all day allowing their parents to enjoy the party! After the wedding breakfast, the team cleared away the tables and the band set up for the evening party. Everything went seamlessly thanks to the team’s hard work. We also had hot canapés in the evening, which again, our guests said they really enjoyed! The rooms at the Woolpack were reserved for our guests and we stayed in Nanette’s Rose, the bed was super comfortable, and we really enjoyed breakfast the next morning. The lady serving us was lovely. We can’t thank the Woolpack team enough! Everyone working in preparation and throughout the celebrations were so kind. They all worked so hard, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Our guests have commented since the wedding about how attentive the team were, no one wanted for anything and there were no queues at the bar. We are so grateful to the whole team. £280.00 expected a lot more ! Well struggling to find anything positive to say about our accommodation the room is tired dated nothing gels stained carpet no attention to detail someone has no or little taste the music from below bar area is loud and thumps through above our TV I would say the rooms are dramatically over priced bathroom light in main room with chrome kitchen sockets so disappointed as this was a surprise for my wife celebrating our wedding anniversary - The staff seem friendly and accommodating and the pub seems cosy and well presented but we are not sleeping in there I really couldn’t recommend this to anyone looking for something special

£10 for a small grated cheese and ham roll and particularly when the ham was reformed. The tiny accompanying salad had three lettuce leaves, a mega thin slice of tomato and a mega thin slice of cucumber. It was actually quite a shock, to be honest.

Pretty old pub in the centre of Tenterden - sadly the food let's it down. Baked potatoes ok, katsu chicken filling not good, likewise the basic and uninspiring burgers. Charged for a bottle of sparkling wine, only a glass had been ordered. The staff corrected the mistake, but weirdly added a charcuterie board to the amended bill - which had to be altered again. We won't be going to the Woolpack again.

Just a one-night stay when visiting the nearby Chapel Down Vineyard. We had a nice room, very clean and comfortable, with the sloping floors you expect in a lovely old building. Very good dinner (home-made pie) and breakfast. Helpful staff.

The Woolpack is an historic building with charm and character. Our room was very spacious and pleasing, with a modern ensuite that had been thoughtfully and skilfully integrated with the building's fabric. The lighting was pleasing and functional. We had a rather original view straight onto the church and its graveyard which in fact was picturesque and added to the unique charm of the place. We found the staff efficient, friendly and accommodating. Lost one star because there is still a little way to go avoiding single use plastics, the toilet macerator is unpleasantly loud and the shower screen is not sufficient to avoid a lot of water getting onto the bathroom floor.
