The Royal Oak Tetbury

The queen of hotel bookings Shell strikes again. What a beautiful stay we had at the fantastic Royal Oak in the heart of the gorgeous Tetbury. Theo the DM was a credit to his industry, brilliant welcome from him and what an all round lovely chap he was. Answering all our questions on the area. We lucked out with the weather, so managed a few drinks outside in the garden area, just getting that Cotswold fresh up the nostrils was enough for me, along with sipping on a superb pint of Asahi (didn’t even nick the glass ). Room was lovely and cosy giving it that real country vibe. Bathroom was a delight, couldn’t believe how fresh that water was from the taps. Just a five minute walk up the hill and you are in the main town. No trouble parking, they have Ample free spaces. So many beautiful walking routes on your doorstep as well. Breakfast was just perfect the next morning, bizarrely I fell in love with the cutlery . Shame we only stayed for 1 night but next time it will be longer for sure. Thank you for a wonderful stay to kick off the Birthday week in style.

Pretty pub but disappointed with a few things. Room was dark but ok, shower was lukewarm both evening and morning. Booked a meal and very dossapointed, veg was raw. Puddings cheesecake was a spoonful of cheese with crumbs and some tasteless (frozen?) berries. Eton mess was the same berries (very soggy ie watery)in a tumbler with cream Staff were friendly but waited 40 minutes for food. ( I didn't see anyone else eating!) As previously mentioned although pub is pretty it lacks character inside and was cold

Fabulous pub with really friendly and accommodating staff. Popped in twice while staying in Tetbury for a local dig and can’t fault the service or the food. Made very welcome on first visit and a table was found for us to be able to eat there. Made to feel so welcome we came back two days later :) Hope the boss appreciates that having excellent staff like that leads to repeat visits. Ww will be coming back for sure.
