Alexandra Golden Boutique Hotel-Adults Only

Very little to fault with this hotel and we would certainly come back again. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location with the beach and private sun beds right on the doorstep. Rooms are large and clean and the cleaners do a great job. Restaurants and bars are in abundance and only a few minutes walk away. I have scored 4/5 for the following reasons whilst the majority of staff are very helpful we found the main restaurant understaffed especially at breakfast and for the majority of our stay it sometimes took up to 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and served. A smile and just an acknowledgment that you have been seen would help rather than being ignored. With breakfast starting at 8am the restaurant was always full and whilst we appreciated staff were busy for 5* hotel then it should be more efficient. Beach staff are wonderful and work very hard. And a shout out to Pedro at the front entrance who always has a smile for you and is full of local knowledge.

The hotel is in a wonderful location with its own private section on the beach and has free sun beds for guests. This was our third visit but to our disappointment the hotel has certainly lowered its standards. As already mentioned in previous reviews…., Breakfast starts at 8am and most morning hotel guests are left waiting for quite a while before being acknowledged by staff and served their drinks also on more than one occasion staff were still putting out the breakfast buffet while guests were left waiting. While sitting we could see staff still arriving for work …for a 5* hotel this should all be done in readiness for opening and all staff available to serve. During previous stays this was never an issue. We also noticed around the grounds discarded dirty plates and glasses which had been removed from the rooms by the cleaners but were just left outside and not taken back to the kitchen and were therefore attracting ants. Also as previously mentioned, one flannel between 2 is annoying in itself but every evening when pool towels were being delivered same said flannel would be removed so you were left without a flannel for the morning….,why on earth would that one flannel be removed unless of course there was a shortage. With regards to our room which was nice apart from a bathroom issue, the shower was in the bath so we had to climb in and out which was a slight irritant and could potentially be a problem for us older guests. Also the shower temperature was very temperamental and was sometimes very hot with no cold water coming through and although we did mention this during our stay and maintenance did take a look, the issue kept occurring possibly because we were in the older part of the hotel…..we were in a different block on previous occasions. You also do not get the lovely bathroom sundries previously available and again only one shower cap between two. I do not wish to give a negative review of the hotel as it is very lovely but I feel the hotel needs to pick up on these slight niggles and pay more attention to the small details which are annoying guests in order to maintain its 5 star rating.

My husband and I were looking forward to our week away at this hotel. As most reviews were glowing, our expectations were high. Tui were excellent with the transfers which all went beautifully. On arrival, the reception staff were smiley and helpful. We were shown to our room but were not happy and this was dealt with very efficiently by the hotel manager. The hotel is small with an old side and over the bridge, the new side. Our room was in the old section and was clean and comfortable. The room shows a bit of wear and tear in places. Our patio and pool were lovely, although we only got the sun up to about lunchtime. Clean bedding and towels whenever you want and clean beach towels delivered each evening. Beach is beautiful with comfortable beds and excellent service from staff with drinks or food. Some afternoons free treats are delivered to your sunbed, ice cream or frozen drinks. It is not a private beach, therefore there are families with children nearby. No watersports. Pool area is rather strange with no sunbeds around the main pool but the second pool has a few sunbeds around. There is no entertainment, day or night! We were B&B and were very glad we chose this option. Breakfast was ok but I agree with other guests who mention slow service with delivery of tea, coffee and orange juice. Also the same music is played every morning on repeat! There are loads of places to eat out for your evening meal. We recommend Palude and for a special occasion La Terrasse. We were also recommended to try Utopia in nearby town Panagia but didn't make it unfortunately. The hotel bar staff work hard and drinks were great, well presented and served with either nuts or crisps. Bring some cards or a small game to play. Loads of cats, often asleep on the sofa! A trip into town on the bus makes a change, lots of shops and bars. Thassos is a lovely unspoilt Green island with no high rise chain hotels. Really enjoyed our week but would not go back to this hotel.

Unfortunately not a five star as we know it. The hotel is in pleasant grounds with attractive main pool area and good beach space. Unfortunately there are often other holiday makers from the surrounding accommodations, many with children, spread all along the beach in front of the hotel's private area, with no attempt made to move them along . This somewhat defeats the objective of choosing an adults only hotel. Whilst the breakfast buffet is good with plenty of choice, the service at breakfast is not five star. The wait for a table to be set up is unacceptable due to a lack of staff/their attention/their motivation. They often walk by and seem oblivious to the fact that you may have been waiting 5 or 10 minutes. Frequently the simple order for tea/coffee/juice was incorrect when it eventually arrived. The room is kept clean by the maids but one face flannel provided between two is not acceptable and the toiletries in the bathroom were not replenished during our two week stay. During our 14 day stay we were given mini ice creams once on the beach and cold towels only on two occasions. It's these little touches which make a hotel deserve its rating if consistent but they most definitely were not.

We once again returned to one of our favourite hotels as a family and as usual received a great welcome. The hotel is an oasis of tranquility with staff who go above and beyond to ensure guests are looked after and the stay is relaxing and comfortable. From the Manager to the cleaners, all care about the guests. It was great to share family time in a place we know well and with staff who were a joy to interact with. Accommodation is exceptional, especially the executive grand suite, and the food and wine excellent. Certainly a place to be recommended for a truly relaxing and memorable holiday. Absolutely loved our stay here. Our favourite holiday yet, the staff at the hotel whether that be reception, housekeeping or the restaurant and bar were absolutely lovely. We stayed as all inclusive, we were apprehensive about this after reading some reviews but it didn’t disappoint at all, there were lots of items to choose from on the room service menu, lots of different cocktails and drinks too as part of the all inclusive. The food at night was amazing, we loved being able to pick a main course off the menu and have the buffet option for starters and desserts. We stayed in a junior suite with a private pool and side sea view (room 909) it was an absolutely gorgeous room and would really recommend that option. Lovely staff in the restaurant who were more than willing to accommodate you and we thoroughly enjoyed every meal!! Beach is lovely and lots of sunbeds on the beach! Would highly recommend, it is absolutely a 5* hotel, a lovely small homely boutique!
